Abstract

Pemenuhan kebutuhan pangan berkualitas merupakan prioritas dalam menciptakan masyarakat yang sehat dan produktif. Di sektor peternakan unggas, itik menjadi salah satu komoditas unggulan karena kandungan gizi yang tinggi dan harga yang terjangkau. Namun, peningkatan produksi itik di tingkat peternak sering terhambat oleh keterbatasan bibit unggul akibat metode penetasan tradisional yang kurang efisien. Penyuluhan tentang penggunaan teknologi mesin tetas pintar dilaksanakan di Desa Pagersari, Kecamatan Mungkid, Kabupaten Magelang, untuk meningkatkan pemahaman peternak terhadap teknologi modern.Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa dari 86 peternak yang terdata, sebanyak 29% menghadiri penyuluhan. Para peserta, terutama peternak dengan skala usaha menengah hingga besar, memberikan respon positif terhadap teknologi ini. Demonstrasi penggunaan mesin tetas pintar memberikan wawasan tentang keunggulan teknologi dalam meningkatkan tingkat keberhasilan penetasan hingga 85–95%. Kendati demikian, beberapa tantangan diidentifikasi, termasuk keterbatasan modal, aksesibilitas terhadap teknologi, dan kebiasaan menggunakan metode tradisional.Penyuluhan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran peternak tentang pentingnya adopsi teknologi modern untuk meningkatkan efisiensi dan produktivitas. Langkah ini diharapkan dapat mendukung Desa Pagersari menjadi sentra peternakan itik berbasis teknologi di Jawa Tengah, sekaligus memperkuat daya saing dan kesejahteraan peternak secara berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Penyuluhan peningkatan sistem perkandangan di Desa Krandon, Kecamatan Kesesi, Kabupaten Pekalongan, Jawa Tengah. Kegiatan ini menargetkan 20 peternak ternak kecil-menengah (ayam, kambing, sapi) untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan praktik perkandangan yang berkelanjutan, berfokus pada peningkatan produktivitas dan kesejahteraan ternak serta peternak. Metode penyuluhan meliputi penyampaian materi terstruktur dengan alat peraga visual (gambar, diagram, video, demonstrasi model kandang), simulasi desain kandang, diskusi kelompok terfokus (FGD) interaktif, dan distribusi panduan praktis. Evaluasi pra dan pasca-penyuluhan menggunakan kuesioner dan observasi lapangan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan (p<0.05) dalam pemahaman peserta tentang ventilasi, pencahayaan, kebersihan, manajemen kotoran, dan manajemen penyakit. Sebanyak 88% peserta menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman tentang prinsip-prinsip desain kandang yang baik, dan 75% menyatakan komitmen untuk memperbaiki sistem perkandangan mereka. Analisis lebih lanjut mengungkap korelasi positif antara penerapan praktik perkandangan yang baik dengan peningkatan produktivitas ternak, yang didukung oleh temuan pengabdian sebelumnya. Studi tindak lanjut selama satu bulan pasca-penyuluhan menunjukkan peningkatan rata-rata produksi telur sebesar 15%, produksi susu 10%, dan penurunan angka kematian ternak sebesar 20%. Jurnal ini merekomendasikan pelatihan lanjutan yang lebih teknis, pendampingan intensif dan berkelanjutan, serta kolaborasi dengan pemerintah dan lembaga swasta untuk keberlanjutan program peningkatan kesejahteraan peternak di Desa Krandon.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of environmental temperature on feed intake and performance in broiler chickens. The study was conducted using 200 Cobb 500 broiler chickens divided into four temperature treatment groups: P1 (gradual temperature decrease from 32-34°C to 20-24°C), P2 (stable temperature at 28-30°C), P3 (natural temperature fluctuations), and P0 (control). The parameters measured included feed intake, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of broiler chickens. The results showed that temperature significantly affected (p<0.05) feed intake, weight gain, and FCR. The conclusion of this study is the importance of stable broiler house temperature management to optimize broiler chicken productivity. This study recommends the application of climate control technology and feed formula adjustments as thermal stress mitigation strategies, particularly in tropical regions with high daily temperature variations.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi praktik manajemen litter di peternakan ayam Joper dan dampaknya terhadap kesehatan serta produktivitas ayam. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi survei dan wawancara dengan peternak, serta analisis data kuantitatif mengenai kualitas litter, frekuensi penggantian, dan pengelolaan kotoran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa banyak peternak masih menghadapi tantangan dalam pengelolaan litter, dengan 50% peternak mengganti litter setiap dua minggu dan 40% melaporkan adanya penyakit pernapasan pada ayam mereka. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya edukasi dan pelatihan bagi peternak untuk meningkatkan praktik manajemen litter yang baik. Kesimpulannya, pengelolaan litter yang efektif sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kesehatan dan produktivitas ayam Joper, serta mendukung keberlanjutan usaha peternakan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of temperature on broiler chicken production. This study was conducted at the Dryland Lab, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Nusa Cendana University. The study was conducted for 28 days, divided into 1 week of adjustment and 3 weeks of data collection. The DOC chickens used were 1 week old with the CP 707 strain with a total of 100 chickens. The feed used was CP 11 and CP 12 feed. This study was an experimental study using a completely randomized design (CRD). This study consisted of 4 treatments and 5 replications with a total of 20 plots. Each plot contained 5 chickens. Treatments included T1 = Cage temperature 30-30.5°C, T2 = Cage temperature 32-32.5°C, T3 = Cage temperature 34-34.5°C, T4 = Cage temperature 36-36.5°C. The variables were feed consumption, PBB, FCR, and drinking water consumption. The data analysis used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and, if significant (P<0.05), was followed by Duncan's test. Statistical results showed that different cage temperatures significantly (P<0.05) affected feed consumption, PBB, and FCR, but not significantly (P>0.05) on drinking water consumption. It can be concluded that different temperatures affect broiler chicken perfomance.

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of broiler concentrate-based rations combined with corn and rice bran on the performance of native chickens. A total of four dietary treatments were formulated, namely P1 (100% broiler concentrate), P2 (75% broiler concentrate, 10% corn, 15% rice bran), P3 (50% broiler concentrate, 30% corn, 20% rice bran), and P4 (25% broiler concentrate, 55% corn, 20% rice bran). The parameters observed included feed intake, body weight gain, and feed conversion ratio (FCR). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), and significant differences among treatments were further tested with Duncan’s New Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that dietary treatments significantly affected the growth performance of native chickens (P<0.05). Chickens fed diets with higher proportions of broiler concentrate (P1 and P2) exhibited better body weight gain and more efficient feed conversion compared to those receiving lower concentrate levels (P3 and P4). In contrast, increasing corn and rice bran levels tended to increase feed intake but did not proportionally improve body weight gain, resulting in poorer FCR. It can be concluded that native chickens perform optimally when fed rations containing at least 75% broiler concentrate, which provides a balance between growth and feed efficiency.

Abstract

This study focuses on the weight of broiler chicken carcass components. This study aims to see the extent to which this treatment has an effect on the weight of broiler chicken carcass components. The study used 80 chickens, with feed given CP 11 and CP 12. This study with a Completely Randomized Design includes 4 treatments 5 replications. Treatments are P0 = P0 = Level 0% in 1 L of drinking water, P1 = Level 7.5% in 1 L of drinking water, P2 = Level 15% in 1 L of drinking water. P3 = Level 22.5% in 1 L of drinking water. The study used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to see significance (P <0.05) and continued with the Duncan test to see significant differences between treatments. The results of the study statistically provide a significant effect (P <0.05) on the breast weight variable, but not significant (P>0.05) on the thigh weight, wing weight, and back weight variables. It can be concluded that the addition of ginger extract has a positive effect on breast weight, thigh weight, wing weight, and back weight of broiler chickens.

Abstract

Native chicken (Gallus gallus domesticus) is one of the local poultry species that plays an important role in providing animal protein in Indonesia. Despite their adaptability and preferred product quality, the reproductive performance of native chickens remains lower compared to commercial breeds. This study aimed to analyze hatching performance and brooding behavior of native chickens under semi-intensive management systems. A total of 10 hens aged 10–12 months and 50 eggs were observed under natural incubation. Parameters measured included fertility, hatchability, embryonic mortality, chick weight, hatch quality index, incubation period, and maternal brooding behavior. The results showed a fertility rate of 82%, hatchability of 68%, embryonic mortality of 14%, average day-old chick weight of 32.4 g with a hatch quality index of 72%, and an average incubation period of 21 days. Hens with consistent brooding behavior exhibited higher hatchability (72%) compared to less consistent hens (60%). These findings highlight that brooding behavior plays a crucial role in the success of natural incubation. Although native chickens have lower hatching performance than commercial breeds, their strong brooding instinct remains a valuable genetic trait for local poultry breeding programs.
