Abstract

Competition law plays a strategic role in maintaining a healthy, fair, and competitive market. In Indonesia, competition regulations are stipulated in Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition, which aims to prevent market domination, protect consumers, and create fairness for all business actors, including small and medium enterprises. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of competition law and the challenges faced in its enforcement, particularly amidst the development of the digital economy. The research method used is normative juridical with a qualitative approach through a study of relevant laws and regulations, legal literature, and academic studies. The results indicate that although the legal framework for competition in Indonesia is quite comprehensive, its implementation still faces institutional obstacles, limited executive authority of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU), and new challenges resulting from the dominance of platform-based digital companies. Therefore, regulatory strengthening, institutional capacity building, and adaptation of competition law are needed to effectively and sustainably respond to modern market dynamics.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of product attributes, lifestyle, and brand image on iPhone purchasing decisions among students of the Faculty of Information Systems at Universitas Prima Indonesia. The study employed a quantitative explanatory approach with a sample of 82 respondents selected from a population of 460 students using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through questionnaires measured on a Likert scale and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results showed that product attributes, lifestyle, and brand image had positive and significant partial effects on purchasing decisions. Product attributes had the strongest effect, followed by brand image and lifestyle. Simultaneously, the three independent variables also had a significant effect on purchasing decisions, with an Adjusted R Square value of 0.581, indicating that 58.1% of the variation in purchasing decisions could be explained by the model. These findings suggest that students tend to consider functional product value, compatibility with their lifestyle, and the strength of brand image when deciding to purchase an iPhone. This study implies that companies should strengthen product quality, maintain a strong brand image, and align marketing strategies with consumer lifestyles in order to increase purchasing decisions.

Abstract

This study examines the preferences of Binjai City residents for investing in gold at the Pegadaian Syariah Outlet Binjai, influenced by various factors such as economic, religious, social, ease of service, and financial literacy levels. Gold investment is viewed as a safe, stable instrument capable of protecting asset value from inflation, making it increasingly popular among various groups, including the younger generation. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation of customers and Pegadaian Syariah. The results show that the increasing public interest in investing in gold is not only driven by economic benefits, but also by a sense of security, trust in sharia institutions, and easy access to the services offered. Furthermore, Pegadaian Syariah plays a significant role in improving public financial literacy through gold savings products that can be started with small capital and a system that complies with sharia principles. However, obstacles remain, such as a low understanding of the gold investment mechanism among some residents and suboptimal socialization. Thus, it can be concluded that the preference of the people of Binjai City in investing in gold is the result of the interaction of various factors that influence each other and indicate a change in the pattern of people's economic behavior towards a more productive and sharia-based direction.
