Abstract

This research discusses the social interaction between Muslim and non- Muslim residents in Cibipark Residence Housing, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency, which consists of three different religious groups: Islam, Christianity, and Hinduism. It is a qualitative study obtaining data through observation, interviews, and documentation using a smartphone for recording and photos, employing a sociological approach. The results reveal various forms of interaction where Muslim and non-Muslim residents blend together to resolve conflicts, particularly regarding land and public facilities, marked by cooperation and accommodation. Residents are capable of managing conflicts without resorting to violence, relying on consensus-building, and no economic competition or religion- based sentiments were found. Supportive factors for social interaction include sympathy and the integrity of residents, most of whom are law enforcement officers, in promoting tolerance. However, the scarcity of places of worship for non-Muslim residents poses a potential conflict challenge in the future.

Abstract

This research discusses the Islamization of the tradition of Sedekah Laut (Sea Charity) in Karangagung Village, Palang District, Tuban Regency. This tradition is an expression of gratitude by fishermen for the bounty of the sea from Allah SWT and for seeking safety. The research uses a qualitative method with phenomenological approaches, and data collection through interviews, observation, documentation, literature review, and online sources. The results show that the Sedekah Laut tradition, previously known as 'Babakan', has a long history. Initial conflicts with Islamic teachings temporarily halted this tradition due to being considered polytheistic. However, since 2017, the tradition has resumed with some conditions. The name of the tradition has changed to Sedekah Laut or Tasyakuran Laut, reflecting acculturation and Islamization with terms such as 'sedekah' and 'tasyakuran'. This research is beneficial for understanding the existence and acculturation of the Sedekah Laut tradition among the fishermen community in Karangagung Village.

The results of this study found that referring to the question of the problem formulation, namely what are the forms of Javanese cultural inculturation in Ganjuran Church and how does the community respond to Javanese cultural inculturation in Ganjuran Church. First, in the Christian liturgy, this is very much in line with Smutzer's wishes, which really wanted the Church to conceptualize Javanese culture because Smutzer's love for Javanese culture was so much that the Church of the Sacred Heart of the Lord Jesus was made This became a church with the concept of Javanese cultural architecture, many such as ornaments, religious, there are even temples that are included in the building. The two churches of the Sacred Heart of the Lord Jesus, Ganjuran, use a form of Javanese cultural inculturation model which is indeed located in Yogyakarta can be seen in terms of architecture and buildings that use designs such as the Yogyakarta palace in the main building to art such as relics and ornaments that are formed also use Javanese culture because indeed this design involves the sultanate of Ngayogyakarta itself and is approved to be built to resemble the palace building. Third, the response of the people who were there did not mind even they were very amazed at what was achieved in the design of the Ganjuran Church. And Laurens in his theory of inculturation is in line with what is built on Church of the Sacred Heart of the Lord Jesus Ganjuran.
