Abstract

Poverty alleviation and micro-small enterprises are the essential topics in discussing the paradigm of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Micro and small businesses are considered as a panacea to alleviate poverty. So the relationship between poverty and the existence of micro and small enterprises is theoretically unidirectional. In other words, if poverty increases, micro, and small enterprises will also increase. To see the effect of poverty on micro and small businesses, this study will use the Village Potential Data (Podes) 2018 with a total of 8559 villages/wards in Central Java Province. Apart from poverty, this study will also examine the effect of technology as represented by the number of electricity customers, health from the number of supporting health centers, and finally education represented by the number of Public Elementary Schools (SDN), State Junior High Schools (SMPN) and State Senior High Schools (SMAN). By using multiple regression models, an interesting relationship is found. Those that have a unidirectional relationship to micro and small enterprises are poverty, technology, health, and primary education (SDN). The role of education in the growth of micro and small businesses strengthens Duflo's thesis (2001) on the effect of education on reducing unemployment which earned him the Nobel Prize in 2019. Meanwhile, junior and secondary education for its effect on micro and small enterprises is negative. This showed that the impact of secondary education is that it provides the possibility to work in other sectors outside of micro and small enterprises

Abstract

Foreign capital flows are important factors in the development of sustainable economies, especially in developing countries such as the OIC countries. Lately, the rapid development of the financial sector and macroeconomic stability became a serious concern by foreign investors, where financial inclusion and macroeconomics played an important role in attracting direct foreign capital flows (FDI). The study aims to investigate the role of financial inclusion and macroeconomic variables on the foreign direct flow of capital (FDI) by using data panels in 8 OKI member States during the 2012-2018 time span. The research uses the Fix Effect Model (FEM) Panel data Analysis tool, which is believed to be able to explain the correlation between independent variables and more accurate dependents. As for the results of the study showed that in partial only variable avaibility (the number of branches of the bank/100,000 adults) is a significant positive draws FDI in the OKI country. While on macroeconomic variables the exchange rates have significant negative effect on FDI, while interest rates and economic growth have significant positive relationships in attracting FDI.

Abstract

Fluctuations in the balance of payments are a reflection of the instability of the exchange rate; crisis factors also greatly affect the deficit or surplus in the balance of payments. If the exchange rate depreciates, a country will increase exports because domestic prices are relatively cheaper than foreign prices so that it is one of the competitive forces to increase exports, and vice versa if a country experiences appreciation, the country will increase imports. This study aims to analyze and compare whether there is a causal relationship between the balance of payments and currency exchange rates in ASEAN countries. This study uses the Granger Causality Test method, therefore the data of this study is in the form of a time series, namely the years 2005-2019. Only Myanmar and the Philippines have the exchange rate and balance of payments variables which have a causal relationship. This is in line with the curve in the introduction where the exchange rates of the two countries are relatively higher than those of Indonesia and Vietnam, which reach tens to tens of thousands of rupiah. This means that no matter how low the exchange rate (depreciation) is, there is no or little possibility for the countries of Indonesia and Vietnam to export, which reduces the current account, which is part of the balance of payments)

Abstract

Quality economic development is indicated by inclusive economic development, where an increase in economic performance is accompanied by an increase in welfare such as income distribution. This study aims to determine the effect of economic performance and expansion of access to income distribution in Indonesia. The study used secondary data from the Indonesian Inclusive Development Index published by the National Development Planning Agency for 464 districts/cities in 2019. Data analysis using multiple linear regression. The results showed a positive correlation between economic performance, expansion of access to public services and income distribution in Indonesia. However, expansion of access does not significantly affect income distribution, while economic performance has a significant effect. On the other hand, the condition of the income distribution in the previous period had a significant effect on the achievement of the income distribution for the next period. Improved economic performance and improved income distribution in the previous period will increase Indonesia's income distribution.
