BACA: JURNAL DOKUMENTASI DAN INFORMASI (Jurnal BACA) is a scientific journal in the documentation, information, and library subject that is published consistently by The National Research and Innovation Agency (Previously this Journal was managed by Center for Scientific Data and Documentation - Indonesian Institute of Sciences (PDDI LIPI). The publishing purpose is to provide up-to-date and quality information to readers who have an interest in science and technology development in these topics. Every article published in Jurnal BACA is the result of research activities, literature review, and best practices. Jurnal BACA is published twice a year, precisely in June and December. The number of articles for each issue is at least five articles. As a reference for submitting manuscripts, the author can refer to ODLIS to determine the list of terms related to the scope and focus of the journal. Abstract

The aim of this research are to find out: (1) data proceed from database with the topic maritime and marine that can access by the user through the OPAC: (2) precision of the data in database: (3) the precision between data proceed by the standard tabulation of literature (keyword) and title in database; (4) the precision between data was inputed with content and metadata field. Result of the extract data from ISJD is descriptor (keyword) Maritime Field (25 pieces keyword from 609 article title) tabulated and made the matrix by excel office. Data that have been collected will be validated base on the recall result, and the precision it will be analyzed descriptively. It found that in Maritime field the descriptor used as keyword was 25 pieces. The keywords were: marine alga as food, ocean mining, marine park and reserves, marine chemical ecology, marine biodiversity, marine law, maritime policy, maritime industry, marine mineral resources, maritime safety, marine biological diversity, loading and unloading, marine ecosystem, marine resources, marine pharmacology, marine resources conservation, marine ecology, marine tourism, marine fisheries, marine environmental, ports, marine shipping, marine pollution, maritime law, and marine transportation. The number of article is found based on keywords.

Abstract

One of the tasks in Center for Scientific Documentation and Information – Indonesian Institutes of Sciences (PDII - LIPI) is to disseminate the results of existing research in Indonesia. The research result can be either books or journal articles. Currently, activity of retrieval system on a journal article have still using a traditional retrieve systems regardless of the relevance of data search results. The order of search results based only on the order of data entry that need to be developed information retrieval of digital full text articles as data retrieval alternative. Development of information retrieval system that uses Sphinx Search software. The data used are the result of the conversion from Portable Digital Format (PDF) into XML as much as 1000 file. Data of conversion result, then are processed through “tokenisasi” and indexing techniques using Sphinx Search software. Retrieval system tested with a query that has been determined. Retrieval results calculated using standard recalls eleven that in mind the relevance and accuracy. Data retrieval system produces search results that are relevant and accurate with average presicion (AVP) value is of 79%.

Abstract

The purposes of this study are: (a) determine the level of customer satisfaction in library and ISSN services; (b) determine customers feedback in improving the quality of library and ISSN services. Type of data this study is quantitative. Data were collected by distributing Survei Kepuasan Masyarakat (SKM) questionnaires. There are nine indicators in SKM: (1) compliance with the service requirements; (2) easy of servicing procedures; (3) the timeliness of service; (4) the suitability of the service charge; (5) product assurance services; (6) the competence of service personnel; (7) the behavior of the service personnel; (8) clear intimation of service; and (9) the handling of complaints, suggestions, and feedback of services. SKM questionnaire distributed to 60 respondents who have received services from the concierge of library and ISSN service. The data are interpreted with a frequency distribution table. Each indicator item in SKM has processed by the value/score of the class interval system. Results of this study indicated that the information service on library and ISSN are satisfactory of customer. The results based on customer survey uses nine indicators of SKM. Most respondents who become customers of the library and ISSN feel satisfied, the number of 43 respondents (71,7%) said they were satisfied and 11 respondents (18,3%) expressed great satisfaction with the services. If viewed from the service unit, there are 25 respondents (83,33%) as a subscribers of library services and 18 respondents (60%) as a ISSN customers whose are satisfied with the those services. However, despite on the results of SKM had been satisfaction, the institution must be to improve the quality system of services ongoing basis. This is done to reduce or eliminate various forms of complaints from customers.

Abstract

Biotechnology Research Center as an institution engaged in the research, the need for data and updated information is an absolute thing. This requirement can be met one of them is the use of information technology either by using the internet. With the increasing number of Internet users in Biotechnology Research Center and order for all users who are members of the Local Area Network (LAN) can utilize the internet needed a good network management. While, during the network management Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI), under the supervision of the Joint Network Team (TGJ – LIPI ) only provide one local IP segment which is limited to only 250 users. While number of internet users in Biotechnology Research Center and more than that number will continue to grow. To overcome these problems, then the LAN network at the Research Center for Biotechnology service facility utilizes Network Address Translation (NAT) contained in Kerio Control software version 7.4.1. The subject of this article is limited to the implementation and configuration of NAT using Kerio Control 7.4.1 version. From these results, we concluded that the implementation of NAT helps all users in the network LAN Biotechnology Research Center get Public IP, so that it can connect to the internet properly.

Abstract

The growth of information technology becomes a challenge for the school librarian, especially in developing the book collections. Book procurement for the library must be matched with the library user’s need. In this research we develop a method to measure the library user’s opinion about the importance and performance of each kind of books in the library, in this case in a school library. The user’s opinions were obtained using questionnaire and analyzed by calculate the average of each score and placing each category in the importance-performance diagram. From the diagram, it could be observed which kinds of books should be added, weeded, or preserved in the library. Several adaptations could be carried out to implement this method outside the school library.

Abstract

Reference analysis of articles in online journals was conducted, namely Jurnal Ilmu dan Teknologi Kayu Tropis in 2013 – 2017. The study aims to: (1) find out the distribution of articles and references based on years; (2) know the reference composition based on the type of document; (3) know the patterns of authorship in reference; (4) know the update of the reference year; (5) find out the ranking of journals that are used as references; (6) know the authorship affiliation pattern. The research was carried out by descriptive method. Data was taken from the Journal of Tropical Wood Science and Technology for five years (2013-2017). Data collection was conducted in October 2018 from the journal webpage available at http://ejournalmapeki.org/index.php/JITKT. Details of each article published , such as the number of articles in each journal number, article distribution, authorship patterns for each article have been recorded and analyzed to make observations.The collected data was compiled and analyzed using an MS-Excel spreadsheet.The results showed that the average number of articles per year was 20,2 and and references per year is 385,8. The highest reference composition is articles totaling 1063, around 55,11 %.The pattern of authorship shows that more than half of writers prefer to work in collaboration because 51,44% of citations are multi-authors, while 48,56% of writers prefer to work in isolation, more reference skills in the span of 0-10 years (current category) namely as many as 1.108 citations/references and 821 citations/references classified as not up-to-date, namely over ten years as many as 821 citations / references. The most used ranking reference journal used by the author was taken from the Journal of Tropical Wood Technology.

Abstract

The success of librarians in developing their careers depend on their success in carrying out various items of librarian activities in Permenpan-RB No.9, 2014. Librarian activities in Permenpan-RB No.9, 2014 were added with some items which had not been covered by the previous rules. This study aims to determine the distribution of librarian activities based on Permenpan-RB No.9, 2014 and how its implemented in the Library of Malang State University. This research used a descriptive method. Data collection is done by research document and interview some informans. The results of the study showed that: (1) the Malang State University Library has not been able to carry out all the activities in Permenpan-RB No.9, 2014; (2) the largest portion of the implementation of the main task of the librarian is still dominated by items of activity according to the level of hierarchy (38%-63%), under the level of position (28%-47%), and above the position level (0-18%); and (3) there are several librarians who carry out two levels of activities under their position, even outside of their position groups.

Abstract

This study discusses the protection of static archives against fire disasters in the ANRI. Static archive protection is needed because the static archive has historical and national values. Moreover, the archive collection owned by ANRI is approximately 13,232 conventional archives and 8,080 new media archives. If the archive owned by ANRI is lost due to a disaster, the loss is not only felt by the institution but by the Indonesian. Not only archives that must be considered but the building or building where the archive is stored also needs attention. Buildings must be designed to store and protect archives from disasters. One of the disasters that caused many losses both soul and material was fire. For this reason, this study aims to identify the protection of static records against fire disasters at the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia, especially in the Directorate of Preservation. This study uses a qualitative approach to the case study method. Data collection methods used are observation and interview. The 11 informants were selected using purposive sampling method, with criteria of staff who formulated, implemented and fostered the field of preservation at ANRI. Static archive protection against fire disasters in ANRI cannot be considered as a small disaster risk because it will cause loss in the static archive collection that is owned. Protection is needed through the stages of prevention, preparation, reaction and recovery. Routine checks must be carried out on tools, training regularly, and special teams are made with clear job descriptions in case of a fire disaster.

Abstract

It is already more than a decade that the word of Knowledge Management (KM) have been discussed by librarians within the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA). Many librarians then became interested in studying KM in order to implement it in their organizations. The discussions about KM then become broad and have been expanded into some fields, including tacit knowledge, implicit knowledge, explicit knowledge, and procedural knowledge. The crucial dimension of KM is collecting and connecting, so that dissemination of knowledge in organization becomes broader and deeper than before. This paper discusses the perception of Indonesian librarians toward KM.

Abstract

This study aims to perceive the efforts done by State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga in running the literature acquisition process. It relates to the main task of library to fulfill the needs of the academicians’ learning process. In addition, the acquisition process is complicated and involves various parties namely lecturers, students, finance division, supplies division, faculties, distributors, vendors, publishers, and the librarians themselves. This study used qualitative method with interview techniques. The results showed that to expedite the work in literature acquisition, librarians must have interpersonal relationship with many parties like lecturers, students, faculties, publishers, distributors, supplies division and finance division.
