Abstract

The Function of Ethnomathematics in the Development of Pancasila Student Profiles for Indonesian Students Via Mathematics Education in Schools. The present mathematics curriculum in Indonesia (IND) places a strong emphasis on the creation of a Pancasila student profile in order to ensure that pupils are learning mathematics in a meaningful way. This paper suggests an integration of ethnomathematics into the formal mathematics curriculum as one approach to dealing with these learning issues. It is based on a literature assessment of studies on ethnomathematics, mathematics education, and Pancasila student profile. The literature review method used with a narrative review design. A total of 28 articles were selected for publication at the final stage of the review process. In light of the preceding explanation, it is clear that ethnomathematics plays a part in the formal school mathematics curriculum since the context-relevant and constraint-filled problem-solving techniques give many abstract mathematical notions the required contextual meaning. Keywords: ethnomathematics, mathematics education, pancasila student profiles.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202305

Abstract

Objectives: The main objective of this study was to identify the most frequent words, the sentiment, and the underlying themes in the students' responses regarding their enrollment in a graduate-level vocational education program. Methods: Word Cloud generation, VADER Sentiment Analysis and Latent Dirichlet Topic modelling were utilized to analyze the collected data. Findings: The most frequent words in the responses of students were "promotion", "personal", "development", "future", "possible", "knowledge", and "career". The sentiment analysis showed a positive overall polarity of 0.477 with no negative sentiment. The themes that emerged from the analysis were the desire for increased knowledge in vocational education, the requirement for a graduate degree, and the desire for career promotion. The findings provide insights into the needs and expectations of students and can be used by institutions to design programs and improve the educational experience of students. Keywords: vocational, sentiment analysis, graduate level, topic modelling, themes.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202337

Abstract

Exploring the Professional Development Pathways of Graduates from the Master's Programs in Education: A Tracer Study in a Center of Excellence. Objectives:  This tracer study aimed to trace the graduates of the master’s programs in Teacher Education in a center of excellence in Central Visayas, Philippines. Methods: Using a validated tracer study tool, the researchers obtained data from 136 respondents and analyzed these data through descriptive statistical and thematic analyses. Findings: Findings revealed that they became better after receiving the master's degree, where the university master's attributes are evident among them. They attained crucial attributes, developed complex skills, and were promoted to a higher teaching rank. Though they improved, they still recommended that the center of excellence employ flexible and integrative learning, where certifications and current trends and issues are embedded. Conclusion: In conclusion, the education master's program has provided instruction and a learning environment where students become proficient teachers and workers in their respective teaching stations. Future researchers may venture into other aspects of the graduates to include in tracer studies. Keywords: masters programs, center of excellence, teacher education, tracer studyDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202351

Abstract

Do Teachers Have the Requisite Digital and Technology Skills for Online Learning? the Case of A State University in the Philippines. This study was conducted to determine the digital and technological skills of the teachers using the TPACK framework. This study employed a cross-sectional explanatory design to determine the technological competence of 196 teachers in a state university in the Philippines. Results of the study show that the respondents have very high pedagogical and content knowledge. This reflects that the teachers demonstrated mastery of content and well-versed of various methodologies and approaches that they used in their teaching. Further analysis also reveals that those teachers who have a very high level of technological competence also have a high level of technology acceptance. Auxiliary to this, teachers who have high technological competence perceived that using technology was highly acceptable. This strongly suggests that educational institutions should continue to conduct intensive trainings and technical support among teachers to further develop their technological skills so that they will become well-versed in using technological tools which are indispensable during online learning. Keywords: tpack, technological competence, digital competence, online learning.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202319

Abstract

Using CIPP Model to evaluate the effectiveness of flexible learning implementation in Satya Wacana Christian University. Purpose: This study aims to assess the effectiveness of flexible learning-based learning at the university level. Method: The research approach uses a mixed method with a sequential explanatory model. The quantitative method is used in the first stage then the qualitative method is used in the second stage. The research subjects were 19 lecturers and 150 students and 1 head of the Bureau of Technology and Information Systems (BTSI) who manages f-learn. The qualitative of the data was obtained through interviews and document study analyzed using Miles and Huberman's model. Quantitative data obtained from numbers with descriptive analysis. Findings: The results showed that the evaluation of context aspects of learning-based f-learn was in the very good category, the evaluation of input aspects was in the good category, the evaluation of process aspects was in the good category, and the evaluation of product aspects was in the good category. Conclusion: Thus, f-learn-based learning has an impact on increasing students' and lecturers' knowledge and mastery of information technology. The drawback is that it needs improvement for the quality of the internet network for each student, which is different. Keywords: cipp model, effectiveness, evaluation, learning, online.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202310

Methods: This study employed made use of the analytical method of research, and documentary analysis of data taken from the official results of LEPT released by the Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC) in the years 2017-2022. In addition, this study made use of frequency counts and percentage to describe the profile of LEPT takers. On the other hand, percentage was used in reporting the average or rating of graduates in their licensure examination. Moreover, T-Test was used to examine the significant difference in the LEPT performances between graduates from AY 2017-2018 and AY 2018-2019. Findings: When compared to national passing rate, results show that DOrSU performed best in September 2021. On the other hand, DOrSU performed low in March 2022. Also, the results from the t-test for equality of means show that there is no significant difference between the AY 2017-2018 and AY 2018-2019 in terms of their ratings in LEPT. Conclusions: It is recommended that schools should create a mechanism in monitoring the performances of their graduates in their licensure examination. Keywords: Teacher education, performance analysis, analytical method of research, documentary analysis.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202325
