Abstract

Using 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity in improving students’ problem solving skills on mixture separation topic. Objectives: The aim of this study was to describe the effectivity of laboratory activity on mixture separation topic based on 5E learning cycle to improve students’ problem solving skills. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out in the SMPN 33 Bandar Lampung by using the matching only pretest-posttest control group design. The 7th-D and the 7th-E grade were used as experimental and control classes, respectively, which they were obtained by using purposive sampling technique. Findings: The effectivity of 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity measured based on the n-gainand the effect size values. The n-gain value of experimental and control classes were in medium (0.52) and low (0.29) categorized, respectively. The effect size value was in large categorized (0.67). Conclusion: These results indicated that 5E learning cycle-based laboratory activity could be effective to improve students’ problem solving skills to separate of mixture. Keywords: problem solving skills, laboratory activity, 5E learning cycle. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v9.i2.201922

Abstract

This research aims to determine the ability of teachers in the planning, implementating and evaluating the learning outcomes. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive method. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation study. The subjects of the study are the school principal, vice principal in the curriculum division, student representatives and teachers. The results of the study show that: (1) The ability of teachers to plan character-based learning so far has had an impact on the development of attitudes and teaching methods of teachers (2) The implementation of character-based learning has a positive impact on the improvement of the character for whole students. However, teachers have less skilled in choosing and utilizing media, learning resources, the methods to support character-based learning goals. The teacher is unfamiliar to using multimedia learning media, (3) Evaluation of character-based learning outcomes for students give an excellent result related to the level of change that happen to the students, but there are also students who still need special attention and guidance in order to shape the character. Keywords: character education, teacher performance, islamic education, civic education.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v11.i3.202118

Abstract

Improving Students’ Self-Efficacy in Studying Salt Hydrolysis Using the SCCrT Model. Objectives: This study aims to determine the differences in the Self-Efficacy of students who learn to use the SCCrT (Scientific Critical Creative Thinking) model with the DI (Direct Instruction) model. Methods: This research is an experimental study of quasi-experimental design with a sample of 69 people consisting of 2 classes with data collection techniques using a questionnaire consisting of 15 statements using four aspects of self-efficacy. Data analysis was descriptive quantitative, and quantitative inferential with SPSS version 25. Findings:  The application of the SCCrT model affects students' self-efficacy acquisition, which is characterized by differences in the self-efficacy results with classes that apply the DI model with an average significance value of 0.00. Conclusion: There are differences in students’ self-efficacy between classes that study with the SCCrT model and courses that use the DI model. The SCCrT model performed better than the DI model in the average category, and the DI model performed well in the salt hydrolysis material category. Keywords: self-efficacy, salt hydrolysis, SCCrT model.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v13.i2.202322

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Project Based Learning Model on Students' Mathematics Problem Solving Ability. Objectives:The aim of this  research was to describe mathematics learning with the Project Based Learning model on mathematical problemsolving abilitties in class X SMA N 1 Simo. Methods: This type of research was quantitative research. The study took two classes as research subjects consisting of thirty-six students in each class. Data collection techniques were carried out with test instruments and documentation. The design of this research was quasi-experimental by comparing test results from different subjects. The Sampling technique in this research is a simple random sampling technique, which is a sampling technique by taking sample members from the population at random without regard to the existing strata in the population. Data analysis techniques esed include Analysis of Variance Test and Multiple Comparison Test.Findings: The mean of the experimental class and control class, namely the experimental class with the PjBL learning model, is 84.72 while the control class with the conventional learning model is 65.53. Conclusions:The result of this research indicate that class X MIPA 5 which is treated with project based learning model has better problem solving ability than class X MIPA 4 which is treated with conventional learning model. Keywords: project based learning model, mathematical problem solving abilityDOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpp.v12.i2.202225
