Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) how user education (user education) in the library of the Islamic State Islamic University Imam Bonjol Padang, (2) how the use of the library in the library of the Islamic State Islamic University Imam Bonjol Padang, and (3) how the influence of user education (user education) on the use of the library of the State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol Padang. This study uses a descriptive type of research using quantitative methods through the distribution of questionnaires as a data source. The population in this study were students of the Islamic State University of Imam Bonjol Padang with the determination of the sample through simple random sampling technique which is a random sampling technique without regard to the existing strata in the population. The results of the research questionnaire that the author conducted are as follows: (1) user education at the library of the Islamic State Islamic University Imam Bonjol Padang is classified as high because it has an average of 4.08 which is in the interval range of 3.41-4.200 in the high category. , (2) the use of the library in the library of the Islamic State Islamic University of Imam Bonjol Padang is classified as high which has an average of 4.13 in the interval range of 3.41-4.20 in the high category, (3) there is a significant influence between user education with the use of the library at the Imam Bonjol Padang Islamic State University library, which is 0.687 in a scale range of 0.61-0.80, it is quite strong.

Abstract

This study examines the perceptions of students of the Department of Information Science and Library FBS UNP Class of 2021 towards information search using ChatGPT. This research uses quantitative descriptive methods. The research population was 249 students with a sample of 72 students. The sampling technique used simple random sampling technique. Data analysis in this study by verifying the data, then tabulating and processing the data by calculating using the mean formula to calculate the average per statement item, as well as calculating the grand mean to calculate the total average of each indicator. The results showed that the perceptions of students of the Department of Information Science and Library FBS UNP 2021 Angaktan towards information search using ChatGPT have responded well.

Abstract

"Perceptions of Library Use on Thesis Writing Motivation of Library and Information Science Students at Padang State University." Thesis. Library and Information Science Study Program, Department of Information and Library Science, Faculty of Languages and Arts, Padang State University. This research was motivated by the lack of motivation to use the library in looking for reading materials for thesis writing within the Padang State University environment. Most students look for references more from the internet such as Google Scholar and the UNP digital library than from the library, resulting in fewer library visits at the Faculty of Languages and Arts. This research aims to describe the perception of library use on the motivation for writing a thesis for Library and Information Science students at Padang State University. This research is quantitative research. The population in this study was 97 people and the sample for this study was 50 Library and Information Science students at Padang State University using a simple random sampling technique using the Slovin formula. The analysis of this research uses the T test. The results of this research show (1) Perception of library utilization of Padang State University Library and Information Science students in the Good category (2) Padang State University Library and Information Science student's thesis writing motivation in the Good category (3) Library utilization has a significant effect on student thesis writing motivation Padang State University library and information science.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the implementation of a lending service policy limited to reserve collections. This research aims to describe the implementation of the limited loan service policy for reserve collections at the Andalas University Library. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews and documentation. This data analysis technique is carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that: (1) Standards and objectives have not been implemented properly. (2) Resources have not been implemented, where the resources for facilities and infrastructure have not been met. Therefore, to achieve success, the policy of facilities and infrastructure must be met. (3) The characteristics of the organization or implementing agency that have been implemented in lending services are limited to reserve collections. (4) The attitude of implementing the service policy has been implemented, because the implementers in realizing limited lending services for reserve collections are also enthusiastic in implementing limited lending services for reserve collections. (5) Inter-organizational communication in implementing limited loan services for reserve collections has been implemented in a harmonious manner, the results provided from this impact have also become part of the form of inter-organizational communication implemented in the limited loan service policy for reserve collections at the Andalas University Library.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the perceptions of inmates towards Islamic collections in the Class IIB Correctional Institution Library in Solok City. This research uses a quantitative type of research using descriptive methods. The population in this study were all inmates who borrowed Islamic collections from the library, namely a sample of 52 respondents. To collect data using a questionnaire. The results of this research are: (1) Relevance, obtaining an average of 2.59 categorized as good; (2) Recency, getting an average of 2.43 is considered not good; (3) Title ratio, getting an average of 2.85 which is categorized as good; (4) Quality, getting an average of 3.0 is considered good: (5) Scientific objects, getting an average of 3.25 is considered very good. Based on the overall average obtained, namely 2.78, it is categorized as quite good, but it needs improvement and support according to the number of users, number of titles and budgets from various parties in order to get satisfactory results.

Abstract

This research aims to determine deficiencies or gaps that occur in the Andalas University Library reference services, so that improvements can be made according to targets. This research uses the DEM (Discrepancy Evaluation Model) model or what is called the gap evaluation model which focuses on three stages, namely input, process and output. This approach uses quantitative research with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques through questionnaires and interviews. This research data was obtained from distributing questionnaires to readers who used reference services. The population in this study were 264 users of Andalas University library reference services from January 2022 to August 2022. The samples in this study were taken using a non-probability sampling design with the Accidental Sampling technique so that a sample of 73 people was obtained. The results of research regarding the evaluation of reference services at the Andalas University Library are described as follows: First, the Librarian dimension obtained an average of 2.70. Second, the Collection dimension which obtained an average of 2.39. Third, the catalog dimension obtained an average of 2.85. Fourth, the Library Reference Service dimension which obtained an average of 2.47. Fifth, the Information Retrieval Service dimension which obtained an average of 2.87. Sixth, the Visitor Data dimension obtained an average of 2.94. Seventh, the Collection dimension obtained an average of 2.93. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the evaluation of reference services at the Andalas University Library obtained an overall average score of 2.73. This score is in the good interval class, namely 2.50-3.24, which means that reference services have been implemented well at the Andalas University Library.

Abstract

This research aims to describe how students at the Darussalam Pinaga Islamic Boarding School, West Pasaman Regency search for information, using the perspective of Ellis' information seeking behavior model. The method used in this research is a quantitative descriptive approach. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires directly to 62 respondents. Samples were taken using saturated sampling techniques. Data is analyzed by studying, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from the collected data. The results of the research show that all students at the Darussalam Pinaga Islamic Boarding School, West Pasaman Regency follow all stages of information seeking behavior in accordance with David Ellis' information seeking behavior indicators. These stages include starting, chaining, browsing, differentiating, monitoring, extracting, verifying, and ending.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of user satisfaction with services at the Lima Puluh Kota Regency Public Library. The type of research used in this study is quantitative with a descriptive research method. The population in this study were all users who had visited the Lima Puluh Kota Regency Public Library. The sampling technique used in this study was the accidental sampling or convenience sampling technique and was time-limited. Therefore, the sample in this study was 60 respondents. Based on the results of the data analysis carried out, it showed that the level of user satisfaction with services at the Lima Puluh Kota Regency Public Library with an average score of 3.23 in the good category. Data on the level of user satisfaction with services at the Lima Puluh Kota Regency Public Library was measured based on three dimensions: affect of service (performance of officers in service), information control (quality and access to information) and library as place (library facilities). (1) affect of service (performance of officers in service) showed that the average score was 3.23. This score is in the interval 2.51-3.25 which indicates that the level of user satisfaction is in the good category. This is proven that according to the library users, the performance of the officers in providing services is good, friendly, and reliable. (2) information control (quality and access to information) shows that the average score is 3.07. This score is in the interval of 2.51-3.25 which indicates that the level of user satisfaction is in the good category. This is proven that according to the library users, the quality and access to information provided by the library can be accessed easily, comfortably, quickly, and efficiently. (3) library as place (library facilities) shows that the average score is 3.19. This score is in the interval of 2.51-3.25 which indicates that the level of user satisfaction is in the good category. This is proven that according to the library users, the facilities, infrastructure, and infrastructure in the library are in good condition, clean, and well-maintained. So, it can be concluded that the level of user satisfaction with the public library services of Lima Puluh Kota Regency as a whole is in the good category.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the influence of TikTok content information on fulfilling information needs (study of the @buiramira account by library and information science students class of 2020). This research was conducted using descriptive methods with a quantitative research type. This research consists of two variables, namely social media (X) and information need variables (Y). The population of this research is library and information science students class of 2020. A sample of 50 was taken using the Slovin formula with a precision of 10%. The technique used is purposive sampling. Based on the research results, it is known that social media has a positive and significant effect on information needs. The social media variable (X) influences information needs (Y) by 46%, while the remaining 54% is influenced by other factors not examined in this research.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the quality of library services using the LibQual Method at SMP Negeri 18 Kota Jambi. This study employs a quantitative research type with a descriptive method through the distribution of questionnaires as the data source. The population in this study consists of students at SMP Negeri 18 Kota Jambi, totaling 746 individuals. The sample was drawn using the simple random sampling technique, resulting in a sample size of 88 individuals. The results of the data analysis on service quality using the LibQual method at the library of SMP Negeri 18 Kota Jambi indicate that in the dimension of Affect of Service, the average score obtained was 3.06, which falls into the moderate category with an interval scale of 2.51-3.25. In this dimension, the quality of library services is good, but there is a need for improvement in librarian training and information control. In the dimension of Information Control, the average score obtained was 2.63, which also falls into the moderate category with an interval scale of 2.51-3.25. In this dimension, the quality of library services is good, but improvements are needed in the ease with which users can find the library materials they need. In the dimension of Library As Place, the average score obtained was 3.26, which falls into the moderate category with an interval scale of 2.51-3.25. In this dimension, the quality of library services in terms of the library room atmosphere is high, but there is also a need for improvement in room optimization and interior design to enhance the user experience and meet their needs more effectively. This effort is expected to create a more quality and engaging library service for library users
