Abstract

The final project service system in the Industrial Engineering Study Program at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" East Java is designed to support the administrative operations performed by both lecturers and students. However, the current system still relies on conventional methods such as Google Forms, email, and WhatsApp, which complicate the processes of submitting pre-proposals, proposal seminars, and result seminars. Therefore, a management information system is needed to integrate all final project service processes into a single application. The objective of this study is to develop a design for a final project management application for students of the Industrial Engineering Study Program at UPN "Veteran" East Java, based on Android. The application is designed using the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, which consists of three stages: Requirements Planning, Design Workshop, and Implementation. The system design includes the use of context diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD), and Data Flow Diagrams (DFD) to illustrate the data flow. Verification and validation tests show that all features of the application function as intended. This application is expected to facilitate and streamline the management of final project submissions, making the service more effective and efficient.

Abstract

This study develops an intrusion detection system optimized with machine learning techniques for efficient and effective detection of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks. Using the Decision Tree algorithm, the system is designed to maximise accuracy in the identification and classification of DDoS attacks. The CIC-DDoS2019 dataset, which consists of various comprehensive simulated attack scenarios, is used as the basis for training and validation, providing the model with robust capabilities in recognizing DDoS attacks with high accuracy. This IDS successfully achieved a 100% detection rate, which is a significant result in the network security environment. The system is integrated into the existing network infrastructure, monitoring data flows in real-time and performing predictive analysis to detect early indications of attacks. Each attack detection immediately triggers a notification sent via a Telegram bot, ensuring that the security team can react quickly to isolate and address the attack. These notifications include details such as the source, type of attack, detection time, and involved protocol information, enabling more informed and strategic response actions. The use of Telegram bots for real-time communication not only enhances the speed of response to threats but also supports system scalability by facilitating adjustments and integration across various operational scenarios. The system's quick detection and response is a big step forward for machine learning-based intrusion detection systems (IDS). It provides opportunities for further research and practical applications that can adapt to various digital security scenarios.

Abstract

Basketball is a popular sport in Indonesia which is ranked third after badminton and football. Basketball is a platform for young people to channel their talents and develop playing skills, especially in South Sumatra Province. In selecting South Sumatra basketball players, an accurate and structured selection process is needed to get quality players. However, player selection is often still carried out by appointing players, which has the potential to cause inaccuracies in player selection. This research implements the Profile Matching method in a decision support system to select player selection based on predetermined criteria, such as physical and technical. The Profile Matching method works by comparing each candidate's profile with a predetermined ideal standard. The calculation is carried out by determining the gap value between the player criteria and the expected standards, then ranking is carried out to obtain accurate and transparent selection results. The research results show that the Profile Matching method is able to increase better accuracy in player selection compared to player appointment selection. In this way, the Profile Matching method helps management make more appropriate decisions and can be a good solution in improving the quality of the South Sumatra basketball team.

Abstract

The relevance of libraries as learning centers, gathering places for the scientific community, and access points for resources not always available online underscores the importance of understanding the factors that influence library visitor interest. This study aims to analyze the factors impacting visitor interest using Factor Analysis and Discriminant Analysis. The key factors explored include service quality, comfort of facilities, quality of book collections, access to digital technology, and frequency of visits. Data was collected through surveys conducted with 500 library visitors across five different locations over a three-month period. Factor Analysis revealed that comfort factors and access to technology were the most significant variables influencing visitor interest, accounting for 65% of the variance in visitor behavior. Discriminant Analysis further classified visitors into high and low interest groups, showing that library facilities were the primary differentiator between these two groups. The study found that visitors with high interest were more likely to be influenced by the library's physical comfort and technology access, while those with low interest were less engaged with the library's services. This research provides valuable insights for library managers to enhance services, optimize library environments, and incorporate technological advancements to increase visitor engagement. It also contributes to the theoretical understanding of library management by identifying key factors that affect visitor interest, which can inform future strategies in the field. However, this study is limited by its cross-sectional nature, and the results may not be generalizable to other regions or visitor demographics. Future research could explore longitudinal data to assess how visitor preferences evolve over time.

Abstract

Laboratories in educational institutions have an important role in supporting learning and research. However, effective and efficient laboratory management is still a challenge, especially in recording inventory and managing consumables (BHP). The Bengkalis State Polytechnic Informatics Engineering Laboratory already has an application system, but there are still limitations in recording monthly BHP usage, borrowing facilities, and proposing equipment procurement. This research aims to design a blueprint for an integrated laboratory information system using The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) Architecture Development Method (ADM). This approach is applied to phase F: Migration Planning, which includes requirements analysis, business architecture design, information system architecture, as well as strategy and migration implementation. The results of this research produce a blueprint for a system information laboratory that includes application design, technology recommendations, and implementation stages that can be used as a guide in system development. This blueprint is expected to increase laboratory management efficiency by optimizing inventory recording, procurement planning and maintenance of laboratory services. In addition, the TOGAF ADM approach used can be adapted for laboratories in other educational settings that have similar needs.
