Abstract

The research aimed to enhance student’s curiosity by implementation of inquiry learning model on reproductive system at  grade XI MIA 8 SMAN 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015.This research was a Classroom Action Research that performed within 3 cycles. Each cycle consisted of 4 steps, there are planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject is 31 students of grade XI MIA 8 SMAN 1 Karanganyar academic year 2014/2015. Data were obtained by observation, test, interview, and documentation. The data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive technique. To measure student’s curiosity student’s activity had been observed and questionaire had been distributed as well. Precycle showed that student’s curiosity of grade XI MIA 8 SMAN 1 Karanganyar were low in each aspect, 1) Curiosity to get information and intellectual fact was 30,64%, 2) Curiosity to accommodate the experiences with sense was 38,71%, 3) Desire to knowing more about the part of science which exist was 32,26%, 4) Curiosity to explore existing knowledge was 48,39%.               keywords: inquiry learning model, curiosity

Abstract

This research considered as Research and Development. The reseach conducted from January to May 2016. The purpose of this research is to develope Subject Spesific Pedagogy (SSP) based on Problem Based Learning (PBL) to reinforce student’s environmental-caring attitude in Grade VII SMP Negeri A Karanganyar academic year 2015/2016. The population of this research was of class VII in SMP N A Karanganyar. Class VII H and VII I were selested as the sample of research. The research design is 4D (four-D) by Thiagarajan. This research model consist of define, design, and develope. The disseminate phase was excluded in this research because the purpose of this research only develope product SSP based on PBL. The characteristic of product is integration of PBL syntax and enviromental subject. The result of validation from expert judgements showed that 90% in RPP (valid), 90% in module (valid), 90% in LKS (valid), and 83% in instrument of evaluation (valid). The development testing result from teacher and students showed that 84% and 79% in modul and LKS (valid). SSP based on PBL is effective to improve environmental-caring attitude. NEP data showed that the mean value of all aspect had been improved from 48,39% up to 54,86%. Paired sample’s t-test showed that sig=0,000 < α=0,05 it’s mean there was differences students environmental-caring attitude between pre and post-treatment. The conclusion of this this research showed that SSP based on PBL is valid and proper for Grade VII SMP N A Karanganyar. Keywords : Subject Spesific Pedagogy, Problem Based Learning, Environmental-Caring Attitude, New Ecological Paradigm

Abstract

The research aimed to enhance student curiosity by implementation of guided inquiry learning model at grade X MIPA 2 SMA N 6 Surakarta academic year 2015/2016 amount of 30 student comprise of 18 male and 12 female. This research was a Classroom Action Research that performed within 3 cycles. Each cycle consisted of 4 steps; planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were obtained by observation, test, interview, and documentation. Student’s curiosity assessed by observation and questionnaire. The data were analyzed by qualitative descriptive technique. The result showed that the student’s curiosity were increased in precycle, cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III. Student who actively ask increased from 15,33 % to 54 %. Student who paid attention to do experiment increased from 40,67 % to 80,67 %. Student who interested to do experiment increased from 24,00 % to 60 %, and student who made a note and summarized increased from 37,33 % to 54 %. Conclusion of the research is that implementation of Guided Inquiry Learning Model can enhance curiosity of student in X MIPA 2 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta academic year 2015/2016. Keywords: Curiosity, Guided Inquiry Learning

Abstract

The research aims to apply the guided inquiry model to improve questioning activity in the learning material “Animalia” in class X Science 6 of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar in 2015/2016 academic year. The research was a classroom action research which was done in three cycles covering planning, action, observation, and reflection stage. The learning model applied was guided inquiry model including six stages, they are: observe, formulate inquiry question, develop hypothesis, design and conduct investigation, analyze data, and arguing. Subject of the research was 40 students of X Science 6 of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar in 2015/2016 academic year. The data of the research was gained by doing observation, interview, and documentation. The writer analyzed the data using descriptive qualitative analyzing technique. The result shows that applying guided inquiry model improve the score of questioning activity in the learning material “Animalia” of X Science 6 students of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar in 2015/2016 academic year. The improvement of students’ questioning activity is showed from the improving score of students’ questioning activity score to teacher, to students, and in wrtitten from pre cycle stage until cycle 3. The score of questioning activity from students to teacher improves from 7,5% or 3 students in pre cycle to 40% or 16 students in cycle 1, 50% or 20 students in cycle 2 and 55% or 22 student in cycle 3. The score of questioning activity from students to student improves from 0% or 0 students in pre cycle to 80% or 32 students in cycle 1, 95% or 38 students in cycle 2 and cycle 3.The score of questioning activity from students in written improves from 0% or 0 students in pre cycle to 37,5% or 15 students in cycle 1, 45% or 18 students in cycle 2 and 52,5% or 21 student in cycle 3. Data improvement of each aspect of students’ questioning activity from pre cycle until cycle 3 has reached the research target (≥50%). Based on the result, it can be concluded that guided inquiry model improves questioning activity in learning material “Animalia” of class X Science 6 of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar in 2015/2016 academic year. Keywords: questioning activity, guided inquiry

Abstract

The research was aimed to ascertain the influence of application augmented reality media based discovery learning toward learning achievement. The research was quasi experimental research, using post-test only with non-equivalent groups. The population was all students of XI IPA MAN 2 Surakarta in Academic Year 2014/2015, which is divided into 3 classes. The sampling technique used in the research was a cluster sampling. Sample was used class XI IPA 2 consist of 22 siswa for control class with image media with konvensional learning ang class XI IPA 1 consist of 22 siswa for experiment class with augmented reality media based discovery learning. The data were collected using tests and non-tests techniques. Tests techniques using tests method multiple choice and short essay to measure learning achievement in knowled domain, while non-test techniques observation method using observation sheet to measure learning achievement in skills domain and attitude domain. The hypothesis was analyzed with t-test and mann-whitney test using SPPS version 16. The result showed learning achievement knowledge domain (Sig. 0,000 < 0,05), skills domain (Sig. 0,003 < 0,05), and attitude domain (Sig. 0,008 < 0,05). Based on the result to indicate signification of learning achievement < 0,05 so there were difference effects of application augmented reality media based discovery learning with konvensional learning toward learning achievement. Keywords: augmented reality media, discovery learning, learning achievement.

Abstract

The research aims to improve the quality of student’s content writing in biology through implementation of Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research is a Classroom Action Researc carried out for 3 cycles. Subjects of this research were students of class XI MIPA 4 SMA N 7 Surakarta with the number of 31 learners. The research data was collected through writing documentation, observation and interviews. The validity of the data is performed using the technique of triangulation method. The research using qualitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the analysis of quality students content writing in the pre-cycle is 0; cycle 1 identified a score of 2, 3 and 4; 2 cycles identified a score of 2, 3, 4 and 5; score 3 identified a score of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. All quality content writing cycle 1 to cycle 3 are at level 1 in the category of writing skills. Keywords: PBL, quality of content writing, level writing skills, content writing score

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to ascertain the influence of learning cycle 5E models accompanied mind map toward biology learning achievment of VIII grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Karanganyar academic year 2015/2016. This research was quasi experiment research which used posttest only nonequivalent control group design. This research applied learning cycle 5E learning models accompanied mind map in experimental group and direct instruction learning models in control group.  The population of this research was all of VIII grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Karanganyar in academic year 2015/2016.   Sampling techniques used cluster sampling that choosed VIII A, VIII B, and VIII G as experiment group, and VIII H as control group. Data was collected using multiple choice test, observation sheet, and document.  The hypotheses analyzed by anova test. Result of data analysis using one way anova showed that  experiment group with application of learning cycle 5E learning models accompanied mind map has different signification 0.000 with other  experiment groups and Fstatisticwith value 7,436 is higher than F(α,df)with value 2,440.This research concluded that application of learning cycle 5E learning models accompanied mind map has real influential toward student’s biology learning achievement of VIII grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Karanganyar especially cognitive domain. Keywords : learning cycle 5E, mind map,learning achievment.

Abstract

This study aims to improving critical thinking skills of student of class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016 through the implementation of Constructivist-Metacogitive model. This research considered as Classroom Action Research that performed whitin 2 cycles and consist of 4 steps namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research procedure refers to Kemmis-Mc.Taggart spiral technique. Data are obtained by questionnaire, essay test, interview, and documentation. Data analysis using qualitative descriptive technique. The main data regarding students' critical thinking skills covering several aspects, namely the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation and self-regulation was measured using a test arranged by the researcher. Data analysis using descriptive analysis technique. Data validation using triangulation techniques. The average yield of pre-cycle critical thinking skills is 33.71% (low), then increased to 47.6% (average) at the first cycle, and increased to 75.76% (high) at the second cycle. The student’s critical thingking skill improvement have reached the reseach target (≥20%), Thus, application of constructivist-metacognitive models can improve students' critical thinking skills. The results showed that the application of Constructivist Model-metacognitive improving critical thinking skills of the students of class XI MIA 1 SMA Negeri 6 Surakarta.Keywords: Constructivis-metacognitive models, Critical Thinking Skills, Coordination System.

Abstract

This research aimed to improve the high-order thinking ability of students by applying PBL model in Environment Pollution Material in10th MIA 3 graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the school year of 2015/2016. This study was a classroom, action research use the procedure of research employed Kemmis and Mc.Taggart’s (2005) conducted in 2 cycles, from April to May 2016. Each cycle consisted of 4 stages: planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Subject of research was the in10th MIA 3 graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in the school year of 2015/2016 consisting of 31 students (18 female and 13 male students). Data of research was obtained using essay test on the high-order thinking ability, interview, observation sheet on the implementation of PBL syntax, observation sheet on affective and psychomotor aspects of students. Essay test of high-order thinking ability includes indicators: analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) based on Bloom’s revised taxonomy. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive analysis technique. Data validation was carried out using triangulation technique. The target of research was the improvement of students’ high-order thinking ability in every aspect of ≥ 23% from based line to the end of research cycle. The result of research showed that the application of PBL model in environment pollution material could improve the high-order thinking ability of students including analyzing (C4), evaluating (C5), and creating (C6) aspects consistent with the target of research, by ≥23% from based line to the end of research cycle. The increase of percentage gain in each aspect of high-order thinking ability from precycle to cycle II was as follows: 1) the analyzing aspect increased by 25.16%, 2) the evaluating aspect increased by 26.66%, and 3) the creating aspect increased by 23.95%. Keywords : Problem Based Learning, high-order thinking, environment pollution.
