Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive study on the transformation of corn stalks, an abundant agricultural waste, into structurally reliable block boards with high bending strength suitable for children’s toys. The innovation leverages physical principles of matter states, fiber mechanics, and sustainable design thinking inspired by Andry Masri’s creative-industrial research. The resulting material meets key performance indicators in bending, elasticity, water resistance, and cost competitiveness. Furthermore, this study frames the material’s development and application within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals .SDGs., particularly SDG 3, 9, 12, 13, and 15.

Abstract

Addressing global sustainability challenges requires innovative approaches that integrate environmental, economic, and technological solutions. This article explores the sustainable development potential of converting carbon dioxide (CO₂), a major greenhouse gas, into formic acid—a valuable chemical compound used as a freezing agent in the coagulation of natural rubber. The study further delves into the solid-state characteristics of materials involved in this process, emphasizing the distinction between crystalline and amorphous solids. Understanding the atomic arrangement in materials contributes to optimizing coagulation and freezing techniques critical for natural rubber production. This work links CO₂ valorization with advanced material science principles, promoting circular economy and environmental sustainability aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Aspen HYSYS has become a foundational tool in process engineering, offering robust capabilities for modeling, simulating, and optimizing complex industrial processes. This review explores the application of Aspen HYSYS across diverse industries—including energy generation, petrochemicals, renewable fuels, and waste heat recovery—with a specific focus on heat and mass balance calculations. Through several validated case studies, we illustrate how HYSYS enables engineers to evaluate thermal efficiency, optimize mass flows, and reduce environmental impacts. The study includes detailed performance data for shell-and-tube heat exchangers, reactive distillation systems, organic Rankine cycles, and dehydration processes. Each simulation case is contextualized in terms of energy conservation and sustainable process design, demonstrating direct contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action). Moreover, the review elaborates on numerical techniques and thermodynamic models used in HYSYS, offering guidance on choosing appropriate property packages and convergence settings. Challenges in fouling, turndown operation, and reference-state discrepancies in enthalpy tracking are also discussed. Ultimately, this article underscores the potential of process simulation not only as a tool for design and analysis but also as a driver of innovation and sustainability in industrial operations.

Abstract

This study analyzes the factors influencing investment intentions among Generation Z in Yogyakarta by applying the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). The variables examined include past behavior and subjective norms toward investment intention. A quantitative approach was employed, with data collected through online questionnaires distributed to 149 Generation Z respondents. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that past behavior has a positive and significant effect on investment intention, with a coefficient of 0,480 (p-value 0,001). Similarly, subjective norms also have a positive and significant effect on investment intention, with a coefficient of 0,451 (p-value 0,002). These findings highlight the importance of prior investment experience and social environment in shaping Generation Z’s investment intentions.

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to investigate the interrelationships between economic, social, and environmental components in modern development initiatives, as well as their implications for sustainability. The main goal is to decipher the complex dynamics and consequences of various variables in order to provide insights for holistic project planning and decision-making. Design/Methodology/Approach: A cross-sectional study was carried out utilising a questionnaire-based survey distributed to 500 participants in various development programmes. The study used statistical analyses such as Pearson correlation coefficients and t-tests to investigate the links between economic, social, and environmental variables, as well as their influence on social and environmental sustainability. Findings: The findings show substantial relationships between economic performance and favourable social and environmental indices, highlighting the interconnectivity of the two. Furthermore, a significant association was discovered between Economic, Social, and Environmental Indicators and the social impact on local communities and stakeholders. Originality/Value: This study adds new perspectives by objectively illustrating the interdependence of economic, social, and environmental factors in development programmes. The study emphasises the need of evaluating various variables concurrently for informed decision-making and long-term project results.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the extent to which supervisory behavior impacts employee engagement in Nepalese public organizations, highlighting the importance of effective supervision in ensuring a motivated and committed workforce, which is essential for successfully implementing government policies and service delivery. A purposive sampling method was used to select 200 employees from various public service organizations, with 151 valid responses collected through structured questionnaires. The data was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) through SmartPLS 4, which was chosen due to its ability to handle non-normal data. The study reveals that supervisory behavior significantly affects employee engagement in Nepal's public sector. Key factors include job management, leadership, communication, thoughtfulness, and social and emotional support. The research emphasizes the need for firms to regularly monitor and measure these actions, as they impact employee engagement, employee well-being, organizational efficiency, and performance.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of open innovation implementation on innovation performance in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia. Open innovation is seen as an important strategy for SMEs in the face of market dynamics and increased global competition. This research uses a quantitative approach with a population of all SMEs in Indonesia that apply innovation in their business activities. Sampling techniques were carried out by purposive sampling, and data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to SME actors in various sectors. Data analysis was performed using multiple linear regression to examine the relationship between the variables of open innovation implementation and innovation performance. Results show that the application of open innovation has a positive and significant effect on improving the innovation performance of SMEs, especially through external collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the use of digital technology. These findings indicate that openness to resources and ideas from outside the organization can strengthen the competitiveness of SMEs in Indonesia. It is hoped that this research will serve as a reference for SME actors and policy makers in designing sustainable innovation strategies.
