Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning frequency on academic achievement of students of the Mathematics Education Study Program Universitas Negri Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau. The research method used is quantitative with a simple linear regression approach. The sample in this study consisted of 31 students selected randomly, while data on learning frequency were collected using a questionnaire while academic achievement was measured through GPA. The results showed that learning frequency had a significant effect on student academic achievement (significance value 0.041> 0.05). This study is supported by the results of the questionnaire which showed the tendency of students to study independently in a fairly good duration and intensity. That learning frequency contributes to student academic achievement, although it does not fully determine it. This study provides a basis for developing learning strategies that can encourage consistent independent learning habits.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of time management on the learning achievement of Mathematics Education students at UIN Suska Riau. In the world of higher education, many students face difficulties in managing time effectively, which has an impact on the quality of their learning. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a descriptive design. The research sample consisted of 37 students who filled out a questionnaire containing 24 statement items related to time management, including the ability to set goals, priorities, make schedules, minimize distractions, and delegate tasks. The results of the analysis using the Spearman test showed that the correlation coefficient value between time management and learning achievement was -0.069, with a significance value of 0.684, which was far above the threshold of 0.05. This finding indicates that there is no significant relationship between the two variables. Therefore, time management is not a key factor influencing academic achievement, and other variables that can contribute to student learning achievement need to be considered

Abstract

This study aims to determine the quality of questions in the Mathematics Olympiad in the 2025 Geometric Competition at STAIN Mandailing Natal. The focus of the study was on ten multiple-choice questions used in the competition. This study used a quantitative approach with descriptive analysis. The research data came from the answer sheets of 64 participants who were students participating in the competition. The data were analyzed using classical statistics, including validity, reliability, difficulty level, discriminating power, and distractor effectiveness tests. The results of the analysis showed that 60% of the questions were in the valid category. The reliability test results showed that the questions had not reached the threshold set for the reliable category. The difficulty level results showed that 100% of the questions were in the difficult category, requiring high ability from participants. The discriminating power results showed that many questions were in the weak and moderate categories. Meanwhile, the distractor analysis results showed that 87.5% of the distractors functioned well. This study shows that the quality of the questions in the 2025 Geometric Competition still needs improvement. The questions need to be reviewed in order to assess the mathematical abilities of the participants more accurately.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the reversible thinking ability of eighth-grade students in solving data presentation problems. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research involved two eighth-grade students from MTsN 2 Sumenep. Data were collected through a reversible thinking test and interviews and validated using method triangulation. Data analysis followed the data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that students’ reversible thinking consists of three aspects: forward reasoning, reciprocity reasoning, and negation reasoning. Students with high reversible thinking ability could trace two-way relationships between data and representations, while others still faced difficulties connecting numerical data with visual forms and reviewing their solutions logically. These findings suggest that reversible thinking involves not only procedural skills but also conceptual reflection on the relationship between data and results. Mathematics learning should therefore foster reflective and two-way thinking through activities using multiple representations.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of TikTok self-control failure on academic procrastination among Mathematics Education students at Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University Malang. The research sample consisted of 59 students from the 2022 cohort. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring TikTok self-control failure and academic procrastination, then analyzed using simple linear regression assisted by SPSS version 27. The results revealed a significant influence of self-control failure in TikTok usage on students’ academic procrastination behavior. The regression coefficient of 0.198 with a significance value of 0.010 indicates that the higher the level of self-control failure while using TikTok, the greater the tendency for students to delay their academic tasks. These findings emphasize the importance of managing social media use and strengthening self-control skills to minimize procrastination behavior, which negatively impacts students’ academic achievement. This study contributes to understanding the influence of social media on academic behavior in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to identify barriers in the implementation of Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM) in literacy and numeracy at the junior high school level through a literature review of 20 relevant articles. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review with stages of searching, selecting, extracting, and synthesizing data. The results of the study show that the main obstacles to AKM include: (1) teacher obstacles, in the form of a lack of understanding of the concepts and indicators of AKM and a lack of contextual practice questions; (2) student barriers, in the form of low ability to understand texts, interpret data, choose solution strategies, and lack of accuracy; and (3) infrastructure barriers, such as limited technological devices, teaching materials, and literacy environments. These findings confirm that the success of AKM depends on the readiness of the overall education ecosystem, not just the technical aspects of assessment. The results of this study can be used as a basis for teachers, schools, and policy makers in strengthening the implementation of AKM in junior high schools.

Abstract

Mathematical literacy ability is the ability that students have to use mathematics to solve problems in everyday life, including students' ability to understand mathematical concepts, mathematical reasoning, problem solving, mathematical communication and understanding the use of mathematics in everyday life. The aim of this research is to determine the mathematical literacy abilities of class VII students at MTs Darun Najah. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, based on the results of analysis and discussion, viewed from three aspects, namely formulating the situation mathematically, using concepts, facts and mathematical reasons, interpreting, applying and evaluating the results, it can be concluded that at the stage of formulating the mathematical situation the subject has the ability to high mathematical literacy is able to formulate situations mathematically, at the stage of using mathematical concepts, facts and reasons the subject is able to use mathematical concepts, facts and reasons well and at the stage of interpreting, applying and evaluating the results the subject is able to interpret, apply and evaluate the results well. Subjects with moderate mathematical literacy skills are able to formulate situations mathematically, at the stage of using concepts, facts and mathematical reasons the subject is able to use mathematical concepts, facts and reasons well even though the answers given are incomplete and at the stage of interpreting, applying and evaluating the results the subject is unable interpret, apply and evaluate results well. Meanwhile, subjects with low mathematical literacy skills were only able to formulate situations mathematically, for the second and third indicators the subjects were unable to meet the criteria for these indicators.
