Abstract

This research aims to determine the differences in academic achievement between working and non-working students at the Faculty of Tarbiyah, IAIN Sorong, class of 2023. The background of the study lies in the increasing number of students who juggle their studies with part-time jobs, which may affect their academic performance. This study employed a quantitative approach with a causal-comparative design. The population consisted of 2023 cohort students, and a purposive sampling technique was used to select 16 students divided equally into two groups: working and non-working. Data collection used structured questionnaires to determine employment status and academic transcripts for learning outcomes (measured by GPA). Data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test with SPSS software. The findings indicate that there is no statistically significant difference in the GPA between students who work and those who do not, as evidenced by a significance value of 0.960 (p > 0.05). Although non-working students had a slightly higher average GPA (3.7183) than working students (3.7117), the difference was negligible. The study concludes that employment status alone does not significantly affect student academic achievement.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan berkolaborasi peserta didik kelas V sekolah dasar dalam proses pembelajaran matematika. Kolaborasi merupakan salah satu keterampilan abad ke-21 yang penting dimiliki oleh peserta didik agar mampu menghadapi tantangan dunia modern. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif dengan sumber data berupa hasil observasi terhadap 27 peserta didik. Instrumen yang digunakan terdiri atas delapan indikator kemampuan kolaborasi, yaitu: (1) berbagi ide, (2) berpartisipasi dalam penyelesaian tugas, (3) mendengarkan dan menghargai pendapat teman, (4) berbagi tugas dan peran, (5) menunjukkan tanggung jawab, (6) menunjukkan inisiatif, (7) mengambil keputusan bersama, dan (8) menjaga komunikasi positif. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif berbentuk persentase, dengan menghitung jumlah peserta didik yang tergolong mampu (skor 3–4) dan kurang (skor 1–2) pada setiap indikator. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berkolaborasi peserta didik berada pada kategori baik, dengan indikator tertinggi pada aspek tanggung jawab dan komunikasi positif, sedangkan indikator pembagian peran dan inisiatif masih tergolong rendah. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran di kelas telah mendorong kolaborasi, namun masih perlu penguatan pada partisipasi aktif dan pembagian tanggung jawab. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi praktis bagi guru dalam merancang pembelajaran yang lebih kolaboratif dan berpusat pada peserta didik. Selain itu, hasil penelitian ini dapat dijadikan dasar dalam pengembangan model pembelajaran inovatif seperti Project Based Learning untuk meningkatkan keterampilan kolaboratif di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Science education at the elementary level plays a crucial role in fostering students’ scientific thinking skills and practical abilities. This study aims to explore and describe the development of cognitive and psychomotor competencies in science learning among third-grade students at SD Nurul Sakinah Azzahra, with a specific focus on the topic of ecosystems and food chains. A qualitative descriptive–exploratory design was employed to capture the learning experiences of 21 purposively selected participants. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that contextual and experiential learning approaches significantly enhanced students’ understanding of ecological relationships and their ability to represent food chain concepts accurately. Students actively engaged in observing plants and animals within their school environment, classifying organisms into producers, consumers, and decomposers, and creating simple visual models of energy transfer. Cognitive growth was evident in students’ improved ability to explain interdependence among living organisms using logical reasoning, while psychomotor development was reflected through improved observation, recording, and drawing skills. The teacher’s role as a facilitator was central to encouraging exploration, collaboration, and inquiry-based learning. Although challenges such as limited time, instructional resources, and diverse student abilities were encountered, these were effectively managed through adaptive teaching strategies and contextualized learning activities. In conclusion, the study demonstrates that contextual and exploratory science instruction fosters not only conceptual understanding but also curiosity, creativity, and environmental awareness among young learners. These findings emphasize the importance of implementing active, student-centered learning approaches in elementary science education to promote holistic cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of digital technology use on students’ engagement in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMA Averos Sorong. The rapid advancement of information technology has transformed the conventional model of PAI learning into a more flexible and interactive process. This research employs a quantitative correlational approach to determine the relationship between technology utilization and students’ behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire distributed to 20 students of grade XII Math 1, whose responses were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and Spearman’s rho correlation test through Jamovi software. The findings reveal a positive correlation between the use of digital media and students’ engagement in PAI learning, with the strongest relationship found between emotional and cognitive dimensions. Students demonstrated greater enthusiasm, interest, and reflective thinking when teachers used visual and interactive digital tools such as videos and presentations. Although behavioral engagement showed a weaker correlation, technology use still contributed to a more active, enjoyable, and reflective learning atmosphere. In conclusion, the integration of digital technology in Islamic Religious Education at SMA Averos Sorong enhances students’ emotional and cognitive engagement, enriching their understanding of Islamic values through meaningful learning experiences. The study highlights the importance of teachers’ creativity in managing digital media to balance affective, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of student engagement.

Abstract

Mathematics is one of the core subjects that plays an essential role in developing logical and systematic thinking skills among elementary school students. Multiplication, as one of the fundamental arithmetic operations, serves as the basis for understanding more complex mathematical concepts such as division, fractions, and algebra. However, many third-grade students still face difficulties in mastering multiplication, both conceptually and procedurally. This study aims to describe the dynamics of studynts’ difficulties in solving multiplication operations, the contributing factors, and the strategies used to overcome them. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design. The research was conducted at MI Al-Ma’arif Kota Sorong during the 2024/2025 academic year, involving 20 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and diagnostic tests, then analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results revealed that most students experienced conceptual, procedural, and application-related difficulties. Conceptual difficulties occurred because students tended to memorize multiplication facts without understanding multiplication as repeated addition. Procedural difficulties appeared in multi-digit multiplication, where students often made place-value errors. Application difficulties were found in solving word problems, where students struggled to identify the appropriate mathematical operations. In addition, affective factors such as low motivation and math anxiety also contributed to students’ poor performance. These findings indicate that multiplication learning difficulties are multidimensional, influenced by cognitive, affective, and pedagogical aspects. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to apply concrete and contextual learning approaches using visual aids and real-life examples to strengthen students’ conceptual understanding and make multiplication learning more meaningful and enjoyable.

Abstract

Multiplication is a fundamental mathematical skill that serves as the serves as the foundation for understanding more advanced concepts such as division and fractions. However, the evaluation results in class IV B of MI Al-Ma’arif Kota Sorong show that many students still experience difficulties in mastering multiplication operations. This study aims to analyze the factors cousing the low multiplication operations. This study aims to analyze the factors causing the low multiplication ability among students. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through observation, open-ended questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The findings revealed that internal factors influencing students’ difficulties include weak conceptual understanding, limitedcomputational skills, low motivation, and lack of self-confidence. External factors of suboptimal use of learning media, less varied teaching strategies, and minimal parental support at home. The teacher has made efforts to improve learning outcomes through the use of concrete media and interactive learning, although their effectiveness still needs enhancement. Therefore, improving students’ multiplication skills requires collaboration among teacher, students, and parents to crate meaningful and engaging learning experiences.
