Abstract

Manual transportation of harvested crops using conventional wheelbarrows poses a high ergonomic risk to workers due to non-ergonomic working postures. Awkward postures such as bending, shoulder elevation, and excessive load on the back and arms may lead to musculoskeletal disorders and reduced comfort and productivity. This study aims to analyze working posture risks during the crop transportation process, design an ergonomic trolley based on workers’ anthropometric data, and evaluate changes in risk levels before and after the trolley implementation. The research methods include Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to assess working postures, anthropometric measurements to determine trolley dimensions, and Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) to translate user requirements into design specifications. The results indicate that the initial working condition using a conventional wheelbarrow produced a REBA score of 12, classified as a very high ergonomic risk. After the implementation of the ergonomic trolley, the REBA score decreased to 1, indicating a very low risk level. In addition, the load capacity increased from 40–50 kg to 60–70 kg per transport cycle, thereby improving work efficiency. The study concludes that the ergonomic trolley effectively improves working posture, reduces ergonomic risk, and enhances comfort, safety, and work effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to explore sales transaction data of spare parts at OTOXPERT Batam usingthe Apriori algorithm to identify association patterns among products. The main problemaddressed is that transaction data, although available in large quantities, has not beenoptimally utilized to uncover relationships between spare parts, so the potential use of thesepatterns to support cross-selling activities and stock management has not been fullyrealized. The data used in this study were sales transactions from January 1 to March 31,2025. The research method includes data preprocessing, transformation of transaction datainto basket form, descriptive analysis, and the application of the Apriori algorithm usingsupport, confidence, and lift parameters. The results show that the Apriori algorithm is ableto discover frequent itemsets and association rules that describe the tendency of spareparts to be purchased together. These patterns provide meaningful information aboutcustomer purchasing behavior and can be used as supporting information in decisionmaking related to sales strategies and inventory management. Therefore, this studydemonstrates that the Apriori algorithm is effective in transforming transaction data intovaluable information for business analysis at OTOXPERT Batam.

Abstract

IKM pillow maker ABC is a business that produces various types of pillows, mattresses, and sofas using different fillings such as dacron, cotton, and foam. The pillow production station currently employs 6 workers: 1 worker for cotton grinding, feeding cotton into the machine, and packaging, 2 workers for filling cotton into the pillows, 2 workers for sewing, and 1 worker for final inspection. Based on observations, one of the main problems identified is that the demand level is significantly higher than the average daily production capacity. As a result, the current workforce is unable to complete production tasks on time, leading to delays in meeting customer orders. To address this issue, it is necessary to calculate the workload and determine the optimal number of workers required to achieve the production target. This study applies Workload Analysis and Workforce Analysis to determine the ideal workforce allocation. The results indicate that the optimal number of workers needed includes: 1 worker for cotton feeding and grinding, 10 workers for filling cotton into pillows, 11 workers for sewing, 3 workers for quality inspection, and 3 workers for packaging. By increasing the number of workers in these key areas, the company is expected to significantly improve its productivity and meet customer demand more effectively.

Abstract

The rapid growth of transactional data in the retail sector, particularly in supermarkets, has resulted in large and complex sales datasets that require effective analytical methods to identify meaningful sales patterns. This study applies data mining through clustering techniques by implementing the K-Means algorithm using Python to classify supermarket sales patterns and group transactions with similar characteristics. The research methodology includes data collection, preprocessing, normalization using StandardScaler, determination of the optimal number of clusters through the Elbow Method, clustering with the K-Means algorithm, and evaluation of clustering quality using the Silhouette Score, Davies–Bouldin Index, and Inertia (Within-Cluster Sum of Squares). The results indicate that from 1,000 sales transactions, three clusters were formed, consisting of 515 transactions in the low sales cluster, 314 in the medium sales cluster, and 171 in the high sales cluster. The clustering evaluation produced a Silhouette Score of 0.6055, a Davies–Bouldin Index of 0.502, and an Inertia value of 122.01, indicating that the resulting clusters are compact and well separated. These findings confirm that the K-Means algorithm is effective for grouping supermarket sales patterns and can support sales management and strategic planning.

Abstract

Pak Sarno Tofu Factory is a small and medium enterprise (SME) in Batam City that stillapplies a semi-manual work system, particularly in the tofu whey sedimentation process. The manual scooping and handling of tofu whey using ladles and buckets potentially causemusculoskeletal complaints and reduce work efficiency. This study aims to identify the levelof Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) using the Nordic Body Map (NBM), analyze workposture risk using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method, and design anergonomic work facility using the Ergonomic Function Deployment (EFD) method. Theresults indicate that workers experience musculoskeletal complaints in the neck, shoulders, lower back, waist, arms, wrists, and lower limbs, with the highest complaint level occurringin activities classified as high risk. REBA analysis shows that ergonomic risk levels rangefrom moderate to high, with the highest REBA score of 9 occurring during the activity ofcarrying buckets filled with tofu whey, which is classified as a high-risk activity. Based on theEFD method, an ergonomic sedimentation tool was designed in the form of a 250-literstainless steel drum equipped with a faucet system, a roller-supported table, and dimensionsadjusted to workers’ anthropometry. This design is expected to reduce physical workload, minimize MSDs complaints, and improve production efficiency.

Abstract

JK Jaya Makmur Tofu Factory is a local tofu producer that still applies a manual cutting process using knives and simple tools. This condition requires high accuracy and potentially causes variations in cutting results due to worker fatigue and differences in working styles, which in turn increase workload and limit production capacity. Based on data from October 2024 to September 2025, the monthly production target of 150,000–157,000 pieces was not achieved, with actual production reaching only 130,000–140,000 pieces per month and an average achievement rate of 88%. This study aims to determine production capacity requirements, compare required capacity with available capacity, and formulate solutions using the Rough Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) method. The results show that the required production capacity averages 20,049.5 minutes per month and remains relatively stable throughout the planning period. Meanwhile, the available capacity averages only 9,424.8 minutes per month, indicating that production capacity is insufficient. Based on the calculations, there is a shortage of production capacity, which requires the addition of one worker at each workstation and an additional one working hour per day as a solution.
