East Java is undoubtedly a region rich in natural resources, as Indonesia has long been known as a country with abundant natural resources. East Java is one of the provinces in Indonesia that has abundant natural resources. Plantations/agriculture, fisheries and marine resources, mining and energy, forestry, and livestock are some examples of these natural resources. There is one surprising fact that naturally a region that has abundant wealth is an advantage for the region, but sometimes the natural wealth of a region can be a blessing and a burden. Panel data regression is used in the study to test three elements: unemployment, poverty, and gross regional domestic product (GRDP) using three approach models in panel data regression analysis, namely the Common Effect, Fixed Effect and Random Effect models, which are then selected from the three models as the best model that can explain the results of the study. The conclusion of the data analysis shows that although the gross regional domestic product of East Java Province has a positive effect on unemployment and a negative effect on poverty.

This research aims to analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian ferronickel in the four destination countries with the most transactions, and analyze the factors that influence the volume of Indonesian ferronickel exports, using a gravity model. The data used in this research is panel data from four countries from 2006-2022, using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood (PPML) methods. The results show that the RCA value in the four countries is greater than 1, meaning that Indonesian ferronickel has competitiveness in the destination country. Then, the factors that significantly influence the volume of Indonesian ferronickel exports are Indonesia's GDP, the GDP of the destination country, the exchange rate, and the COVID-19 pandemic with a positive coefficient, as well as the population of the destination country with a negative coefficient. Meanwhile, the economic distance variable doesn’t have a significant effect on the volume of Indonesian ferronickel exports.

Economic growth can be an indicator that reflects how advanced and prosperous the condition of a region can be influenced by various aspects. This study attempts to analyze the determinants of economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi Province using the identified factors, which include: (1) poverty percentage, (2) population density per km2, (3) average years of schooling, and (4) life expectancy. The research used fixed effect model estimation with panel data of 17 districts/cities in Southeast Sulawesi during 2019-2023. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the percentage of poverty, population density, average years of schooling, and life expectancy (AHH) simultaneously and significantly affect economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi Province. Economic growth is significantly influenced by the percentage of poverty rate, average years of schooling, and life expectancy rate (AHH). Meanwhile, population density has no significant effect on economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi. The limitation of this study is that the independent variables in the study were only able to explain 16,7 percent. For future research, the determinants of economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi can be tested by adding other variables.
