Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh temperatur quenching terhadap nilai kekerasan dan ketangguhan pada hasil pengelasan baja karbon sedang dengan pengelasan Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). Bahan yang digunakan adalah Keylos 50 yang merupakan baja karbon sedang. Sedangkan elektroda yang digunakan adalah baja karbon rendah yaitu E 7016. Setelah proses pengelasan kurang dari 5 detik setelah pengelasan benda didinginkan cepat dalam air dengan variasi temperatur 5? C- 10? C, 25? C- 30? C dan 70? C- 75? C. Kemudian hasil pengelasan diuji tingkat kekerasan dan ketangguhan.  Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pendingin air temperatur 5? C- 10? C merupakan yang paling ideal untuk proses quenching. Hal ini dikerenakan pada pendingin air 5? C- 10? C didapat kekerasan HAZ tertinggi yaitu 263,65 kg/ mm2 dan nilai ketangguhan impak tertinggi yaitu sebesar 1,597 Joule/mm2.

Abstract

Result of cast pulley which better and high quality for mainly manufacture industry absolutely needed, so that the process of casting a nice, efficient, and economical to increase the yield and reduce the waste production. Casting is formed of a material by means of a metal melt and pour into the cavity desire with what we want. The purposes of the research were (1) to investigate the effect of the variation ingate the micro structure as the results of pulley aluminum casting bean using sand molds, (2) to investigate effect of the variation ingate toward the hardness of the results of pulley aluminum casting using sand molds, (3) to investigate the effect of the variation ingate toward the impact strength in the result of pulley aluminum casting using sand molds. This research used experimental method that contains one free variable (variable of the number of channel entering) and three factors of bond variables (micro structure, hardness and strength impact). The object of the research was the result of pulley casting from aluminum ingot Al-1,15%Si, and 2,01%Zn. The data analysis of this research is using descriptive data analysis, which is explaining the result of the research graphically on the table, histogram and micro structure. As the input parameter in data analysis, covers: variation ingate (1 ingate, 2 ingate, 3 ingate) micro structure, hardness, and the strength impact. Based on the research, it can be concluded that micro structure in the pulley aluminum casting with 1 ingate indicate metric Al-Si that has rare granular distance. Si that grouped form would be created large silicon granules phase. Micro structure in the pulley aluminum casting with 2 ingate indicates close Al-Si metric and the Si granule size is smooth. Micro structure in the pulley aluminum casting with 3 ingate shows close Al-Si metric and the size of the Si granules are smooth and spread evenly. The highest hardness result of pulley aluminum is on pulley with 3 ingate, it is 71, 6 VHN, then pulley aluminum with 2 ingate is 63,4 VHN, and the lowest result of the hardness is on the pulley aluminum with 1 ingate, it is 51,4 VHN. The highest result of the strength impact is on the pulley casting with 1 ingate, it is 0,077 J/mm2, then pulley with 2 ingate; it is 0,058 J/mm2, and the lowest result of the strength impact is on the pulley casting with 3 ingate, it is 0,054 J/mm2.

Abstract

The aims of this research are: (1) To study about the using of copper wire electrolyzer effect to fuel consumption in Yamaha Mio 2010 Motorcycle, (2) examining the effect of solution variation to fuel consumption in Yamaha Mio 2010 Motorcycle Research has done in automotive repair shop of mechanical engineering, teacher training and education faculty, Sebelas Maret University of Surakarta. The research uses Yamaha Mio 2010 motorcycle with engine serial number:  28D-2105099. Data analysis technique uses in this research is experiment method with descriptive data analysis. Data acquired by assessing fuel?s consumption level of motorcycle. From assessing results of fuel consumption level then presented in bar chart to analysis.Research results showing that: (1) Fuel consumption level of premium in Yamaha Mio 2010 motorcycle doesn?t use electrolyzer as 12,93 ml/minutes, (2) Fuel consumption level of premium in Yamaha Mio 2010 motorcycle using electrolyzer with NaHCO3 solution variation is 12,46 ml/minutes, there is a consumption level decreasing as 0,47 ml/minutes compared with premium fuel consumption level examining without electrolyzer, (3) Fuel consumption level of premium in Yamaha Mio 2010 motorcycle using electrolyzer with KOHsolution variation is 12,33 ml/minutes, there is a consumption level decreasing as 0,6 ml/minutes compared with premium fuel consumption level examining without electrolyzer, (4) Fuel consumption level of premium in Yamaha Mio 2010 motorcycle using electrolyzer with NaOHsolution variation is 11,66 ml/minutes, there is a consumption level decreasing as 1,27 ml/minutes compared with premium fuel consumption level examining without electrolyzer, (5) using of electrolyzer in motorcycle influencing the level of fuel consumption, in the other words, it occurring the process of fuel saving in motorcycle using electrolyzer.

Abstract

Serbuk tempurung kelapa dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif bahan kampas rem non-asbes  sepeda motor. Dalam penelitian ini, pada  komposisi serbuk tempurung kelapa 20%, serbuk aluminium 40%, resin 40% memiliki angka yang paling mendekati dengan kampas rem pembanding. Komposisi serbuk tempurung kelapa 20%, serbuk aluminium 40%, resin 40% memiliki angka keausan 0,071.10-7 mm2/kg. Komposisi serbuk tempurung kelpa 20%, serbuk aluminium 40%, resin 40% memiliki angka kekerasan 16,8 kgf/mm2. Dengan melakukan variasi komposisi akan didapat angka keausan dan kekerasan yang paling optimum. Variasi  komposisi  serbuk tempurung kelapa  sangat berpengaruh  terhadap angka keausan dan angka kekerasan  sampel kampas rem.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the suitability between spectrum curriculum 2008 SMK machinery engineering and competency needed on production engineering workshop in Surakarta. This research belonging to evaluation research used descriptive qualitative research study. The result of this study are : (1) competency profile of production machine operators in production engineering workshop at Surakarta are varieties, from the results of the study can be concluded that the design of DKK and KK Mechanical Machining Skills Competency declared to represent the competencies needed to become a production machine operator. There are several additional competencies that are considered by the industry namely includes personal competence discipline, work ethic, work spirit, enthusiasm for learning, honest, never give up, responsibility, and competence in the field of machining itself. (2) Mapping the suitability of basic competence DKK and KK Competency of Technical Skills Machining with competence profile of production machine operators in production engineering workshop Surakarta declared appropriate. With namely details of DKK Competency Technical Skills Machining declared low of 40.10%, and KK Mechanical Machining Skills Competency declared quite high at 60.72%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was (1) Determine the effect of the variation media cooling to hardness remelting of Al-Si based used piston waste with degassing treatment, (2) Determine the effect of the variation cooling media to micro structure remelting of Al-Si based used piston waste with degassing treatment, (3) Determine the effect of the optimal cooling media results hardness and micro structure remelting of Al-Si based used piston waste with degassing treatment.This study used an experimental method that uses a single independent variable factor (media cooling variation) and two-factor variable (hardness and microstructure). Objects in this study using the results of remelting of Al-Si piston former waste. Data analysis techniques in this study using descriptive data analysis results graphically illustrate the tables and histograms as well as images of micro structures. Input parameters in analyzing the data include: variations in the cooling medium (water well, oil SAE 40 and salt liquid), micro structure, and hardness.The results showed a change in the level of hardness and the micro structure formed. From the hardness test results obtained the highest level of hardness in the media cooling well water 86.83 BHN respectively towards the lows of the cooling medium salt liquid at 83.63 BHN, media SAE 40 oil cooler for 63.24 BHN, and the non-quenching at low 54.22 BHN. Microstructure test shows the micro structure consists of the formation of Al that is soft (low hardness) and Si as an addition to the level of hardness that affect resilience, the size of the grains of different suggesting that different levels of hardness coupled. So we get the greater amount Si then the resulting hardness will increase.

Abstract

The purpose of this research as followws to know the positive influence between employment work information and  work industry practice experience toward mental readiness into work world of the student class XII in light vehicle mechanic program SMK Negeri 2 Sukoharjo either partially or simultaneously. The study was conducted using quantitative research by inferensial statistical analysis planning. The population consists of 181 students. The sample consists of 125 students. The technique for collecting data is using questionnaire. Based on the research result we can coclude: there are positive and significant relationship between employment work information with mental readiness into work world of the student class XII in light vehicle mechanic program SMK Negeri 2 Sukoharjo with taccount>ttable = 9.459 >2.616. There are positive and significant relationship between work industry practice experience with mental readiness into work world of the student class XII in light vehicle mechanic program SMK Negeri 2 Sukoharjo with and taccount>ttable = 8.650 >2.616.There are positive and significant relationship between employment work information and work industry practice experience with mental readiness into work world of the student class XII in light vehicle mechanic program SMK Negeri 2 Sukoharjo with Faccount>Ftable = 59.123>4.783.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to get the successfulness: (1) in the improvement of the learning activeness in the Basic Welding subject matter of the students in Grade X M2 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta through the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type; and (2) in the improvement of the learning achievement in the Basic Welding subject matter of the students in Grade X M2 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta through the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type. This research used the classroom action research with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four phases, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of research were the students in Grade X Machinery 2 of the aforementioned school. The sources of research data were observation sheet on the learning activeness and the test of achievement. The data of research were collected through test i.e. written test items non-test i.e. students? learning activeness observation sheet during the implementation. They were validated through content validity for the data obtained through test and construct validity for the data obtained through non-test. The result of research shows that the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type can improve the students? learning activeness as indicated by the result of observation. Prior to the treatment, only one indicator of learning activeness fulfills the target. Following the treatment with the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type, 3 indicators fulfill the target in Cycle I, and all of the indicators fulfill the target in Cycle 2. Furthermore, the students? average score of learning achievement also improves. In the pre-cycle which uses the lecturing method, the completeness of the learning achievement is 41%. Following the treatment with the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw type, it becomes 68% in Cycle I and 82% in Cycle II respectively. Thus the application of the cooperative learning model of the Jigsaw typecan improve the learning activeness and achievement in the Basic Welding subject matter of the students in Grade X Machinery 2 of PGRI Vocational High School 1 of Surakarta.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine: (1) the effect of endmill cutter primary angel to the roughness level of steel ST 40 machining result by Tosuro CNC Milling controlled by GSK 983 Ma-H. (2) The effect of the endmill cutter flute amount to the roughness level of steel ST 40 machining result by Tosuro CNC Milling controlled by GSK 983 Ma-H. (3) a combination of primary angel and the flute amount of endmill cutter which produces the smallest level of roughness. This study is an experiment that uses two-factor variables (angle incision and the number of eyes slice endmill cutter) and one dependent variable (the level of surface roughness). This study was conducted at the Machining Practices Laboratory of SMK Warga Surakarta for the formation of Test Objects and implementation of the machining process using Tosuro CNC Milling controlled by GSK Ma-H. The level of the surface roughness conducted at Engineering Materials Laboratory of Mechanical Engineering Diploma, The Faculty of Engineering, GadjahMada University. The research method used in this study is an experimental method with analytic descriptive analytical techniques. The results showed that there was primary angel and the flute amount of endmill cutter effect to the roughness level of steel ST 40 machining result by Tosuro CNC Milling controlled by GSK 983 Ma-H. The smallest combination of primary angel and the flute amount of endmill cutter toward the roughness level of steel ST 40 machining results process by TS 218 CNC Milling is on the interaction between primary angel of 5° and 4 flutes of  endmill cutter is equal to 0,2013 µm and the greatest of the roughness level of steel ST 40 machining results process by TS 218 CNC Milling is on the interaction between primary angel of 10° and 2 flutes of endmill cutter is equal to 0,4691 µm. The more the amount of endmill cutter the smaller the level of the roughness.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of the variation of core thickness on strength bending characteristic of cantulas? fiber sandwich composite  with the type combination C-Flute and A-Flute of cardboard honeycomb core.         Cantulas? fiber is used to make the skin by applied it in the same way and get alkali ( 2% NaOH ) in 6 hours. Hand  lay up method  is used in the production process by using fraction 40:60 resin BQTN 157 with the thickness of skin 4 mm. in  making  the combination between C-Flute and A-Flute core honeycomb used Horisontal Gelombang Dua arah ( HGD ) method  with the variation of the core thickness 10 mm, 20mm, and 40 mm. then , adhesive epoxy versamid 140 is used to glue between skin and core.  the mechanical test is conducted using bending test according to ASTM C 393 standart.  the failure observation of the bending test is done by makro photo. The result shows that the variation of core thickness influence the  strength of bending sandwich cantulas?  fiber  sandwich composite  with the type combination C-Flute and A-Flute of cardboard honeycomb core . the maximum weight of the bending sandwich composite is in the 10 mm of the core thickness with the value 14,800 MPa,  on  core shear stress and facing bending stress is in the 10 mm of the core thickness with the value 0,634 MPa and 14,271 MPa. the pattern of failure is  in the core failure, delaminasi, deformasi and in  the skin is causes of  load tensile.
