Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of layers number towardflame resistance ofripoxy R-802 EX 800 gr/m2 woven roving e glass fiber glass composite. The flame resistance characteristic studied were the ignition time and the burn rate of ripoxy R-802 EX800gr/m2 woven roving e glass fiber glass composite with the number of fiber glass layers variation (up to 5 layers).The method which used  in this research was experimental method. The research was done at Engineering Materials Laboratory, Mechanical Engineering Department, Engineering Faculty, of Sebelas Maret UniversitySurakarta which located at Jalan Ir. Sutami No.36 A Surakarta. The equipment which used to study composite burning resistant was burn tester based on ASTM D-635. The specimens in this research was ripoxy R-802 EX800gr/m2 woven roving e glass fiber glass composite. Burning test was done based on ASTM D-635 standard (horizontal burning test). The data analysis which used in this research was descriptive analysis method.Based on experimental result can be concluded: (1) The effect of fiber glass layers number indicated more fiber glass layers number caused increasing of ingnition time and decreasing burn rate at composite. It was indicated that more fiber glass layers number will decreased composite burn rate. (2) 5 woven roving 800gr/m2 fiber glass layers caused this composite inflammable and the best variation of spessimen, because the fire extinguished before recommended distance based on ASTM D-635UL 94.

Abstract

Based on results an analysis of cutting camshaft ramp to fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions the suzuki shogun 125 sp in 2005, can be results of this study show that the fuel consumption average on the use of standard cam shaft for a distance of 100 km is 2777 ml. While fuel consumption average on the use of modified camshafts (duration 255o) for a distance of 100 km is 2887 ml. On the use of modified camshafts, fuel consumption for a distance of 100 km increased 110 ml. On the use of the standard exhaust camshafts CO emissions average is 1,396%. CO exhaust emissions on average use modified camshafts (duration 255o) is 5,583%. On the use of modified camshafts, CO emissions increased by 4,187%. HC exhaust emissions in the use of the average standard ridge axis is 141,667 ppm. HC exhaust emissions on average use modified camshafts (duration 255o) was 2621,33 ppm. On the use of modified camshafts HC emissions increased by 2479,663 ppm. The conclusions of this research is cutting ramp duration camshafts for 255o tend to increase fuel consumption, exhaust emissions CO and HC exhaust emissions on a motorcycle Suzuki Shogun 125 SP in 2005.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: (1) to design and to develop Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection on Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009; (2) to identify the impact of the use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection on the torque of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009; and (3) to identify the impact of the use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection on the power of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. This research used the descriptive quantitative method. The sample of research was Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. The data were obtained from the amount of torque and power of the motorcycle using pure premium fuel (standard) and Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection with the compositions of A100 (100% aquades + 0% methanol), A90, A80, A70, A60, and A50. They were put in the table, presented in the form of graph and then analyzed. The results of research are as follows: 1) The design and development of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection can work and operate well on Motorcycle Honda MegaPro 2009. 2) The use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection has impacts on the torque of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. The best maximum torque produced was 13.13 Nm at 6097 rpm or the amount of the torque increased as much as 0.34 Nm or 2.65%, by using the water injection (A60). The worst maximum torque produced was 12.75 Nm at 6288 rpm by using water injection (A90), or it decreased as much as 0.04 Nm or 0.31% from the maximum torque produced by motorcycle without using the water injection (standard) whose power was 12.79 Nm at 5883 rpm. 3) The use of Arduino Uno Microcontroller-based water injection has impacts on the power of Motorcycle Honda Mega Pro 2009. The best maximum power produced was 12.6 HP at 7556 rpm or the amount of power increased as much as 0.2 HP or 1.61%, by using water injection (A60). Meanwhile, the worst maximum powers produced were 12.3 HP at 8115 rpm by using the water injection (A100) and 12.3 HP at 7517 rpm by using water injection (A70), or the power decreased as much as 0.1 HP or 0.80% from the maximum power produced by motorcycle without using the water injection (standard) whose power was 12.4 HP at 7446 rpm.

Abstract

This research is a Classroom Action Research which conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, and reflection stage. The research was conducted class XI Mechanical Engineering academic year 2014/2015. Data obtained through field observations, interviews, achievement test (pre-test cycle, the first cycle and second cycle) and documentation. This study uses comparative descriptive data analysis techniques. It shows that the implementation of cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) improves the student critical thinking skills and learning outcomes at class XI Mechanical Engineering academic year of 2014/2015 in the subjects of Lathe Machining. In the pre-cycle stage where conventional method was used, it is found that the critical thinking skills and learning outcomes is quite low. When the cooperative learning model Think Pair Share (TPS) was applied, the student critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes increase eventhough it was still under the research target of 70% on each of the indicators of critical thinking skills and a minimum of 70% of students completed the minimum mastery criteria (?75). The target value of critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the second cycle until been reached the intended target. An increase in the percentage of students who passed the minimum mastery criteria of pre-cycle of 34.375% to 78.125% in the second cycle or an increase of 43.75%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the influence of  feedrate variation, timing of cooling  variation, and the interaction between feedrate and timing of cooling to rate wear HSS end mill cutter in machining result CNC milling with ST 40 steel. This research is an experimental research using two factor independent variable (feedrate and timing of cooling) and one dependent variable (rate wear of HSS end mill cutter). The results data of this research described using descriptive analytic method. The results of discussion with this method was enhancement of feedrate and timing of cooling the rate wear cutter increases. Type of cutter wear that occurs is flank wear and began to grow relatively quickly then followed by a relatively slow growth to a certain cutting. The smallest edge of the cutter rate wear occurs when interaction feedrate 0.11  mm/rev with a timing of cooling 10 minutes value is 562.57 ?m, while the largest edge of the cutter rate wear occurs when interaction feedrate 0.15 mm/rev with a timing of cooling 20 minutes value is 958.65 ?m. This research suggests that interaction between feedrate and timing of cooling has a certain influence to rate wear of HSS end mill cutter in machining result CNC milling with ST 40 steel.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to investigate: (1) the effect of use of intake manifold with base material of pineapple leaf fiber composites on torsion of Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007 at the revolution of 4500 rpm ? 9500 rpm; and (2) the effect of use of intake manifold with base material of pineapple leaf fiber composites on power of Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007 at the revolution of 4500 rpm ? 9500 rpm. This research used the experimental method. The test of the effect of use of intake manifold with base material of pineapple leaf fiber composites on torsion and power of Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007 was held at the liability limited company of PT. Motocourse Technology (Mototech), domiciled on Jl Ringroad Selatan, Kemasan, Singosaren, Banguntapan, Bantul, Yogyakarta, with the testing device of Sportdyno V 3.3. The sample of research was Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007 with the engine number of JB51E1951246. The sample was taken by using the purposive sampling technique. The data of research were gathered by using the experimental method by utilizing print out of the result of testing on torsion and power with the aforementioned tool. They were analyzed by using the descriptive comparative technique of analysis. The results of research are as follows: 1) There is an increase of effect in the use of intake manifold with base material of pineapple leaf fiber composites on torsion of Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007. The maximum of torsion increase is 0.039 kgf.m or 3.5% of the maximum torsion generated by the standard intake manifold. 2) There is an increase of effect in the use of intake manifold with base material of pineapple leaf fiber composites on on power of Motorcycle Honda Supra X 125 assembled in 2007. The maximum of power increase is 0.2 PS or 2% of the maximum power produced by the standard intake manifold. The increase in the torsion and power with the use of intake manifold with base material of pineapple leaf fiber composites can be used as a reference for the owners of motorcycles who are willing to increase the torsion and power of their motor cycle with a cheap cost.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were: (1) To knew the effect of higher octane number on gasoline type to torque and engine power on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle. (2) To knew the effect 10.2:1 high compression ratio on compression ratio variation to torque and engine power on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle. (3) To knew the effect higher octane number on gasoline type and 10.2:1 high compression ratio on compression ratio variation to torque and engine power on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle.This research used experimental method and the techniques of data analysis used descriptive data analysis.Based on this research can be concluded: (1) The higher octane number on gasoline type influenced of  torque and engine power on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle. (2) 10.2:1 high compression ratio on compression ratio variation type influenced of  torque and engine power on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle. Torque and engine power was decreased on 9.1:1  low compression ratio (2 gaskets) and 8.7:1  compression ratio (3 gaskets). (3) The higher octane number on gasoline type and 10.2:1 high compression ratio on compression ratio variation  influenced of  torque and engine power on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle. (4) With used pertamax plus on 10.2:1 compression ratio can producted optimum torque 10.24 N.m at 5000 rpm and optimum engine power 9.8 HP at 7646 rpm on Suzuki Shogun FL 125 SP 2007 motorcycle.

Abstract

The purpose of this study are investigate effect of usage booster coil,  adding methanol in premium and interaction at  1500 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm and 4500 rpm, to low CO and HC emissions on Yamaha Mio Sporty 2007. Component ware used for data analysis includes: ignition system (standard coil and installation booster coil), addition methanol (10% (M10), 20% (M20), 30% (M30) and 40% (M40)), variations of rotation engine speed (1500 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm and 4500 rpm), and exhaust emissions (CO and HC). Based on the results of research at 1500 rpm, 2500 rpm, 3500 rpm, 4500 rpm, We can concluded that usage booster coil, addition methanol in premium and interaction can affect CO and HC emissions, so it tends to fall.

Abstract

The purposes of this research: (1) To investigate the effect of using vitta-Q battery to load teston lead acid battery12V 5Ah liquid vented type. (2) To investigate the voltage of load test lead acid battery12V 5Ah liquid vented type after using vitta-q battery vitamin. Based on the research result, it can be concluded: (1) The measurement result after using vitta-Q battery vitamin on lead acid battery 12V 5Ah liquid vented type by using digital load tester provides the highest load test of 2 ml vitta-Q battery vitamin per cell is 8.2 V and it stays indicator parameter of 6.5V?9.6 V, that showing the battery is in good condition and needs for a recharge. (2) The measurement result after using of vitta-Q battery vitamin on lead acid battery12V 5Ahliquid vented type by using digital load tester provides the lowestload test of 3.5 ml vitta-Q battery vitamin per cell is 6.3 V showing the battery is on damaged condition and needs for a replacement. (3) The measurement result after using of vitta-Q battery vitamin on lead acid battery 12V 5Ah liquid vented type by using digital load tester of 2.5 ml battery vitamin per cell, as suggested by the company standard, provides the load tester is in 7.7 V and stays in the indicator parameter of 6.5 V ? 9.6 V, Showing the battery is on good condition and needs for a recharge.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to know the length of the critical comparison of: (1) Agave fiber, (2) Kenaf fiber, (3) Palm fiber, and (4) Coco fiber. This research conducted in the laboratory of materials in mechanical engineering Universitas Gajah Mada by using quantitative methods. Population in this research are a natural fiber. The sample used the technique purposive of sampling some 4 kinds of natural fibers. The research by using a agave fiber, palm fiber fiber, kenaf fiber, coco fiber, epoxy resins, and catalyst. The sample used piece from agave fibers, palm fiber, kenaf fiber, and coco fiber. To find the critical length of each fiber using the pull out of fiber test method. Testing critical length of fibers using fiber-universal test machine. The main material that is used in the form of agave fiber, coco fiber, palm fiber, kenaf fiber, pieces of pipe, epoxy resins and catalysts. Mixing resin epoxy with a catalyst using comparison 100 % : 1 % with 100 % of resins and 1 % of catalysts. The sample used are pieces of agave fiber, kenaf fiber, palm fiber and coco fiber. To find the critical length of each fiber by using pull out fiber test methods. Before the test with pull fiber test methods, fiber pull test single advance in search of single fiber tensile strength of each fiber. Testing critical fibre length by using the tool universal fiber test machine. The analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis. Based on the result of data analysis can conclude that: (1) Critical length of agave fiber is 9 mm; (2) Critical length of kenaf fiber is 36 mm; (3) Critical length of palm fiber is 11 mm; and (4) Critical length of coco fiber is 36 mm.
