Abstract

This paper presents an effect of variation waterglass on moisture degree and clay degree in sand casting. The held as the word in sand casting used is waterglass with a variation of 0%, 15%, 25%, and 40%. Sand casting mixture on the sand river weighing 500 grams, the addition of 10 ml of water, and the addition of waterglass based on the variations that have been determined. Research carried out is descriptive research with experimental methods. The result show that the moisture degree and increasing clay degree. The higher addition of waterglass on molding sands increasing moisture degree. The resulting moisture degree is 1.50%, 5.18%, 6.48%, 7.14%. The higher addition of waterglass on molding sands increasing moisture degree. The resulting clay degree was 5.44%, 12.80%, 17.68%, 26.64%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were : (1) To knew how the effect of  heating premium fuel through a copper pipe installed between the fins of cylinder block to exhaust gas emissions (CO) and (HC) on Yamaha Vega R 2009 motorcycles. (2) To knew how the  effect of heating mixture of gasoline and fuel ethanol through a copper pipe installed between the fins of  cylinder block to exhaust gas emissions (CO) and (HC) on Yamaha Vega R 2009 motorcycles. (3) To know the value of the levels exhaust gas emissions (CO) and (HC) on the effect of heating fuel were installed between the fins of cylinder block Yamaha Vega  2009 motorcycles.This research used a descriptive quantitative method. The sample used was Yamaha Vega R 2009  motorcycles with the numbere of machine 4D71261848. The data obtained from the value of CO and HC with percentage variation mixture of premium ethanol E0, E5, E10, E15, E20, E25, E30 using a method without heating fuel and heating fuel using 1, 2 and 3 pipes. The data obtained from this research included in the tables and displayed in a graph, and then analyzed.Based on this research can be conclude : (1) The highest levels (CO) when  heating fuel on the 1 pipe,  while the lowest levels (CO) when without heating fuel. The highest levels (HC) when heating fuel on the 2 pipe,  while the lowest level (HC) when heating fuel on the  1 pipe. (2) The highest levels (CO) when heating fuel on the E0 variation of fuel while the lowest levels (CO) when heating fuel on the E0 variation of fuel. The highest levels (HC) when heating fuel on the E30 variation of fuel while the lowest levels (HC) when heating fuel on the E5 variation of fuel. (3) The highest levels exhaust gas emissions (CO) is 1.216 (% vol) and The lowest levels exhaust gas emissions (CO) is 0.083 (% vol). While the highest levels exhaust gas emissions (HC) 877 (ppm vol) and the lowest levels exhaust gas emissions (HC) is 99 (ppm vol).

Abstract

The purpose of this researchare to know the application of 5R (organization, neatness, cleanliness, standardization, discipline) by employee have been done well and to know the measures and activities of 5R practice in Machinery and Tool Unit (UMT) Mega Andalan Kalasan, Ltd. to achieve superior industry as the basic to build international industry.This research used experimental method and the techniques of data analysis used descriptive data analysis.Based on this researchcan be concluded:the application of 5R practice by the employee in Machinery and Tool Unit (UMT) Mega Andalan Kalasan, Ltd. have been done well. The measures and activities of 5R practice in Machinery and Tool Unit (UMT) Mega Andalan Kalasan, Ltd. to achieve superior industry are keeping the cleanliness of unit, doing comprehension activity continually about 5R, Head Unit, Head Subdivision and chief category in Machinery and Tool Unit controlling, giving example, reminding in order to keep the sense of 5R, Clean Friday of 5R, increasing RTB tools (shelf, trolley, box, tray), providing cleanliness facilities, determining KBS (cleanliness team and 5R in UMT), periodic evaluating by management, unit and  5R contest and money supply (deposit) UMT. The application of 5R increases the efficiency of work, the productivity of work and the safety of workin Machinery and Tool Unit (UMT) Mega Andalan Kalasan, Ltd.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the effect of the variations  of the added magnesium  (Mg)  element  on  the  hardness  and  micro  structure  of    aluminum.  Material  for  the research was  aluminum. Prior to further study,  aluminum  was exposed to chemical composition testing to find out its composition definitely.It  consisted  of  several  phases,  namely:  cutting  the  material,  smelting  the  material,  adding  the magnesium  element  at  the  Metal  Laboratory,  Ceper  Polytechnics  of  Manufacture  residing  in Batur, Tegalrejo, Klaten. The micro structure testing and the hardness  testing were conducted at the  Engineering  Material  Laboratory,  Gadjah  Mada  University  residing  at  Jl.  Grafika  No.  2 Yogyakarta. The data of the research were analyzed by using the descriptive analytical methods. The results of the research show that the hardness value of the aluminum increases along with the quantity of the added magnesium element. The increasing amount of magnesium element added into the cast aluminum causes grain size of the aluminum to get smaller.

Abstract

Purpose of this research is : Investigate influence of use of dual spark plugs against the engine power produced Yamaha motorcycle Jupiter z in 2009, Investigate influence of use of dual CDI against the engine power produced Yamaha motorcycle Jupiter z in 2009, Investigate influence of use of dual spark plugs and dual CDI against the engine power produced Yamaha motorcycle Jupiter z in 2009. Research used experimental methods and techniques of data analysis using analysis descriptive, the results of experiments observed directly then concluded and determine the result of research. Population in research using Yamaha motorcycle Jupiter Z in 2009. The sample in this research is a motorcycle Yamaha Jupiter Z in 2009 with engine number 30C653165 and chassis number F8034661I. Based on the results of the research can be summed up : using dual spark plugs can increased engine power and improve the quality of combustion, brake horse power increased according to the increase according engine round enhancement. Engine round enhancement after the maximum power is reached make power decreases, using single spark plug with dual CDI increased the maximum brake horse power 5.400 HP. Brake horse power enhancement occurring 0.574 HP or approximately 11.89 %, using dual spark plugs with single CDI increased the maximum brake horse power 5.767 HP. Brake horse power enhancement occurring 0.941 HP or approximately 19.50 %,  using dual spark plugs with dual CDI increased the maximum brake horse power 5.649 HP. Brake horse power enhancement occurring 0.823 HP or approximately 17.05 %,  using dual CDI can increased the maximum engine round, using dual CDI less efficient, multiply the CDI is feared could make shorting the wiring and not necessarily ignition curve between both alike.

Abstract

The use of carbon steel HQ 709 as gears, crank shaft, shaft, and engine components in addition to requiring hardness properties also require wear resistance and toughness properties. To get the properties of carbon steel with a combination of hardness, plasticity, ductility, strength, wear resistance, and stable crystalline structure necessary tempering process. Tempering is an attempt to reduce the residual stress of materials with a decrease hardness material. The purpose of the study were : to investigate how the effect of tempering temperature variations to changes in the carbon steel microstructure HQ 709, to investigate the effect of tempering temperature variation to changes in carbon steel hardness HQ 709, to investigate the effect of tempering temperature variation to changes in wear resistance of carbon steel HQ 709, to investigate the interaction between changes in the microstructure, hardness and wear resistance due to the tempering temperature variations. Research using experimental methods and techniques of data analysis using descriptive analysis is to directly observe and then experimental results and determine the results of the study concluded. Based on the results of the study concluded that: there is the effect of tempered temperature variations on the microstructure of steel HQ 709, there is the effect of tempered temperature variation of the hardness levels steel HQ 709. Based on the results of hardness testing, heat treatment specimens obtained average level of the highest hardness at 870 ° C quenched specimens with holding time is 30 minutes for 560.97 VHN and the lowest average hardness of the specimen tempering 650 ° C with a holding time of 30 min 287.4 VHN, there is the effect of tempered temperature variations on the wear resistance of steel HQ 709. Based on the results of testing the wear resistance, heat treatment specimens obtained an average rate of wear of the highest numbers of specimens tempered at 650 ° C with a holding time 30 min at 0.873 × 10-7 mm2/Kg and the average wear rate lowest in quenching the specimen 870 ° C with a holding time of 30 minutes 0.3 × 10-7 mm2/Kg, there is an interaction between changes in the microstructure, hardness, and wear resistance of steel 709 HQ. Such changes have a certain pattern of interaction or relationship.

Abstract

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa: 1) Penggunaan elektroliser air menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar pada mesin Toyota Kijang sebesar 2,023×10-3 cc tiap siklus atau sebesar 5,4%, 2) Penggunaan pemanasan bahan bakar menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar pada mesin Toyota Kijang. Penurunan konsumsi terbesar pada pemanasan bahan bakar menggunakan pipa tembaga dengan jarak antar sirip 10 mm sebesar 4,818×10-3 cc tiap siklus atau sebesar 13%, 3) Penggunaan elektroliser air dan pemanasan bahan bakar menurunkan konsumsi bahan bakar pada mesin Toyota Kijang. Penurunan konsumsi terbesar pada penggunaan elektroliser air dan pemanasan bahan bakar menggunakan pipa tembaga dengan jarak antar sirip 10 mm sebesar  6,196×10-3 cc tiap siklus atau sebesar 16,8%.

Abstract

The objectives of research are (1) to find out whether or not there is a correlation between learning independency and welding practice achievement  at the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali, (2) to find out whether or not there is a correlation between entrepreneurship interest and welding practice achievement at the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali, (3) to find out whether or not there is a correlation between learning independency and entrepreneurship interest and with welding practice achievement  at the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali. The population of research was the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali consisting of 66 students. The sample was taken using Proportional Random Sampling. The sample size was determined using Krecjie table. The sample consisted of 56 students. Techniques of collecting data used were questionnaire and documentation. The results of research showed that: (1) there is a positive significant correlation between learning independency and welding practice achievement  at the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali,  with p = 0.00 < 0.05, (2) there is a positive significant correlation between entrepreneurship interest and welding practice achievement  at the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali, with p = 0.00 < 0.05, (3) there is a positive significant correlation between learning independency and entrepreneurship interest with and welding practice achievement  at the second grade of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Nogosari Boyolali, with p = 0.00 < 0.05.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to acquire knowledge about the internal factors and external factors are a barrier to completion of the study in thesis writing student S1 in PTM JPTK UNS Surakarta. The source in this research are all students Mechanical Engineering Education JPTK FKIP UNS Surakarta class of 2006, 2007, and 2008. The sample is taken by using sampling purposive technique. The sample in this research are students Mechanical Engineering Education JPTK FKIP UNS Surakarta class of 2006, 2007, and 2008 which take courses thesis. The most dominant factor that inhibits completion of studies students PTM S1 JPTK FKIP UNS Surakarta, among others: (1) Internal factors is health factors, fatigue factors, and psychological factors. (2) External factors is guidance by professors factors, family factors, friends factors, student reference factors, and administrative thesis factors.

Abstract

The purpose of study to determine the tutorials video learning method to produce better result than the conventional methods in the practice of Fuel Motor subjects in 11th  TKR class OF SMK Nagara Ngawi academic year 2013/2014.This research includes experimental research . Forms and researches strategy which used is a comparison between conventional learning with Tutorial Video learning innovation by using a control class population sample and experimental class. Total population in this study are 70 IIth students of Vehicle Engineering subjects of SMK Ngawi Nagara, consists of 2 class of automotive  in the  IIth grade (TKR 1 and 2 IIth class) on the fuel motor subjects in the academic year of 2013/2014. Samples are taken by a sampling total technique, the number samples are 70 students of IIth class Engineering Vehicle . Data collection technique is the competency test method. Data analysis techniques in this study is using normality test, homogeneity and hypotheses test by using the mean difference test two right- hand t test with significance level of 5 %.The results of this study shows that the effectiveness of the tutorial Video learning model of slit valve adjustment in improving student learning shows a significant difference with the conventional model of learning, the result learning of experimental group increased, and the average estimate of the results learning 75-95, the average study group experimental results of the 85.69. The results of the calculation of the difference average obtained t value = 84.024 > t table = 2.03. While the control group also increased, the average estimate of 60-80, the results average of the control study group 66.66. it shows that the result learning which used learning tutorial Video models of slit valve adjustment is better than using the conventional model. The conclusions of this study is the outcomes learning of the tutorial tutuorial video learning model of slit valve adjustment is better than the use of conventional methods It can be seen in the average value of a class that uses a learning model slit valve adjustment tutorial video turned out to greater outcomes learning is 85.69 while the results obtained by the conventional method of learning for 66.66. This implies that the learning model by using the tutorials Video learning of slit valve adjustment is more effective because the video stimulate the interest students, so that students are more active.
