<![CDATA[This research focuses on the use of Culture-Based Learning (CBL) as learning content to improve students' mastery of English speaking. This research aims to look at the use of Culture-Based Learning (CBL) in improving the English-speaking mastery of class VII students at MTs. Negeri Tojo Una-Una. MTs Negeri Tojo Una-una is located in the District of Ratolindo, Tojo Una-una Regency, Central Sulawesi. The population in this research were all class VII students for the 2022/2023 school year with the amount of 77 students. This research method is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design using a sample of students in class VII A and VII B with a total of 50 students obtained by purposive sampling technique. To collect data, this research uses tests as instruments, namely pre-test and post-test given in the form of the oral test either in groups or individually. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that the use of Culture-Based Learning (CBL) as learning content shows a significant improvement. This is shown by the percentage improvement of 44.50% in students who are members of the experimental group, while in the control group, there is only an improvement of 10.60% from the pre-test, treatment, to the post-test.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to find out the difficulties experienced by students in learning English via online mode. The subjects of this research were students of Grade XI SMA Negeri 1 Sojol, Sojol District, Donggala Regency. This research used a survey study with mixed methods. The participants were 132 students of Grade XI at SMA Negeri 1 Sojol. The research instruments were questionnaire and an interview that. Each instrument contained open-ended and close-ended questions. The questionnaires distributed directly for each class and it consisted of 3 parts with the total was 21 items. Besides, there was interview which consisted of 5 questions, the researcher interviewed three students who answered many of the “agree” responses. The researcher found that the learning difficulties students of grade XI via online mode at SMA Negeri 1 Sojol are the network is not good to access internet, the teacher’s explanation difficult to understand, and students also constraint to buy internet quota because they don't have money. The teacher should to pay more attention to the problems faced by students in order to be able to provide solutions or policies to reduce the difficulties that faced by them.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this article is to prove that the use of reading narrative texts can improve the ability of grade eight students of SMPN 3 Palu to identify regular and irregular verbs. The method used is a true-experimental design in which there were two classes involved – experimental and control class. The question of this research is “Can the use of reading narrative texts improve the ability of grade eight students of SMPN 3 Palu in identifying regular and irregular verbs?” The sample of this research is the grade eight students of class I and J of SMPN 3 Palu. Class VIII I became the experimental group, and class VIII J became the control group. Based on hypothesis testing done, by using 0.05 level of significance and 78 degrees of freedom (df), the researchers found that the t-counted (7.12) was higher than the t-table (1.66). It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. In short, the answer to the research question above is “The use of reading narrative texts can improve the ability of grade eight students of SMPN 3 Palu to identify regular and irregular verbs.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine whether using the PQRST method can improve the reading comprehension of the tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tolitoli. The researchers applied a quasi-experimental research design by using non-random sampling techniques to get the sample. The instruments of data collection were pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was used to measure the students' prior knowledge, and the post-test was used to measure the improvement in students' reading comprehension using the PQRST method after the treatment. The t-test was analyzed to compare the mean scores of the experimental group (93.95) and the control group (89.58). The significance level was 0.05 with 60 degrees of freedom (df=66). The result of data analysis indicates that the t-counted (2,92) is higher than the t-table (1.659). It means that the hypothesis is accepted. It was concluded that using the PQRST method can improve students' reading comprehension of the tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Tolitoli.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this study is to examine and analyze articles concerning the strategies used in developing speaking skills published in between 2018 to 2023. This research employs library research methodology, which involves using library sources to gather and analyze data. The research results shows that the strategies used in developing speaking skills are Communication Strategies, Task-Based Approaches, Role-Play, and Technology-Enhanced Approaches and the most frequently used strategies are Role-Play, and Technology-Enhanced Approaches. To implement the two most frequent strategies used, educators need a careful planning and consideration. They should introduce concepts, select relevant content, and provide clear instructions. Technology can enhance authenticity and engagement in speaking activities by utilizing tools like YouTube, digital storytelling, or educational comics. In conclusion, this research provides valuable insights into the strategies employed to develop speaking skills.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to find out whether the Implementation of Communicative Language Games to Improve Speaking Skills of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Labschool Palu is effective in improving speaking skills of SMA Labschool Palu students. The design of this study was quasi-experimental which included students and class XI MIA 3 as an Experimental Group with a total of 20 students and XI IIS as a Control Group with a total of 20 students. The mean score of the pre-test of the experimental group is 41 while the control group is 45. The mean score of the post-test of the experimental group is 54 while the control group is 48. By using the 0.05 level of significance, the researchers computed the data and found that the value of the t-counted (2.702) is higher than the t-table (1.991.6). It means that the hypothesis is accepted. In other words, using the Communicative Language Games Technique can improve the students' speaking in the eleventh grade of SMA Labschool Palu.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this research is to find out the correlation between grammar mastery and writing skills. The researchers applied a correlational research design. There were two variables in this research, they were grammar mastery as variable X and writing skills as Variable Y. The researchers took the 4th-semester students as the population and the sample of this research. In selecting the sample, the researchers used a random sampling technique. 3 students from each class were taken randomly as the sample of this research. The total sample was 18 students. In conducting this research, the researchers used two tests. The tests were grammar and writing tests. A grammar test measured students’ competence in simple past tense. The test consists of 20 multiple-choice questions. The test is aimed at collecting data on students’ grammar mastery. In the writing test, the students chose one of three topics that were provided in the test’s instructions. The students wrote the text in the form of a recount text. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The result shows that the correlation coefficient between students’ grammar mastery and writing skills is 0.630. The result is categorized as substantial or high. It indicates that there is a positive correlation between grammar mastery and writing skills of 4th-semester students of the English Education Study Program of Tadulako University. It means that the students who have good grammar mastery also have good writing skills and the students who lack grammar mastery also have poor writing skills because grammar is one important aspect that influences students’ writing skills. The implementation of this finding in the teaching of writing skills is that the lecturers must find a way to integrate the teaching of writing skills with grammar.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims at finding out whether or not the implementation of Think- Pair-Share (TPS) Technique can improve the reading comprehension of the eleventh-grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Banawa. This research employed a quasi-experimental research design which involved two groups of students as experimental and control groups. The samples were selected by using a purposive sampling technique. The samples were the students of XI IPS 2 as the experimental group and XI IPS1 as the control group. The instrument of this research was a test that was given to the sample as a pretest and posttest in the form of a reading test. The result of data analysis shows that the mean score of the posttest in the experimental group is 76.82 which is considered higher than the mean score of posttest in control group (65.06). By applying 42 degrees of freedom (df) and 0.05 level of significance, it indicates that the tconted (3.84) is higher than the ttable (2.01). As a result, it clarifies that the hypothesis of this research is accepted. In conclusion, the findings of this research reveal that students’ reading comprehension can be effectively improved by using Think-Pair-Share (TPS)]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this research is to find out if the use of skimming and scanning techniques can improve students’ reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Palu. This research used quasi-experimental design that consisted of two groups; experimental and control group. The samples of this research was the eleventh grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Palu; XI MIPA 1 with 27 students as the experimental group and XI MIPA 2 with 27 students as the control group by using purposive sampling. The data were collected by using pre-test and post-test at first and last meetings. Then the treatment was only given to the experimental group. The result of experimental group’s pre-test is 61 while control group is 78.00. The result of experimental group’s post-test is 83.11 while control group is 81. By applying 0.05 level of significance, the researcher found that the value of t-counted (9.71) is higher than t-table (1.676). In conclusion, the use of skimming and scanning techniques in teaching reading can improve students’ reading comprehension of the eleventh grade students at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Palu.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this research is to investigate whether or not the use of DRAW Strategy is effective to develop reading comprehension of second grade students at SMP Negeri Satap Parigi Tengah. The method of this research was pre-experimental research design with one group pre-test post-test only. Since the sample of the research only one class, the researcher applied total sampling technique. The total number of students were 12. The instrument of data collection was test which administered twice called pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed descriptively and statistically. The result of data analysis showed that there is significant difference between the students’ achievement on pre-test and post-test. The students’ mean score on the pre-test increase from 42.2 to 81,62 on the post-test. By applying 0.05 significant level with 11 degree of freedom, it was found that the value of t-counted (46.53) is greater than the value of t-table (1.796). It indicates that the research hypothesis is accepted. Thus, the application of DRAW Strategy is effective to improve reading of the eighth grade students at SMP Negeri Satap Parigi Tengah.]]>
