Abstract

The relationship between the physical condition of fisherman’s house with Acute Respiratory Infection complaints on children under five years old in Lingkungan Pintu Angin Kelurahan Sibolga Hilir Kecamatan Sibolga Utara Kota Sibolga in 2013. Acute Respiratory Infection has been a serious health problem problems in Indonesia. According to the preliminary survey at the Puskesmas Pintu Angin, Acute Respiratory Infection takes the high number firstly out the data ten the most disease. Children under five years old very susceptible to respiratory infection. One of the causes Acute Respiratory Infection is physical condition of house is bad. The houses of fisherman in Lingkungan Pintu Angin area mostly in stage constructed above sea water and non permanent. The type of research is descriptive analytic study, with cross sectional design. Populations are all mothers with children under five years old and have house with a constructed stage that has been built above sea water, that is 74 people and sample is total sampling. The results showed that there was significant relationship between the natural lighting (p=0.015) and humidity (p=0.026) with complaints of Acute Respiratory Infections on child under five years old, while ventilation (p=0.07), floor (p=0.613), wall (p=0.322), and ceiling (p=0.119) there was no relationship. People who live in Lingkungan Pintu Angin, expected to open their windows every day and encourage them to keep cleanness their home. And education needs to be improved by public health officials about the healthy condition of the house, especially to prevent acute respiratory infection diseases. Abstract

Effectivity of spearmint leaves powder as repellent to american cockroach. American cockroach (Periplaneta americana) is mechanical vector which can bring agent of diseases. In Cockroach had ever been found about 40 microorganism so that can contaminate human food and cause some intestinal diseases even the allergic for human.Usually, People control the American cockroach by using chemical substances which persistent in environment if we use it continuously. This research showed that there was differences average of the quantity of American cockroach which can pass spearmint leaves powder at observation after five minutes with p =0,048. There wasn’t differences average of the quantity of American cockroach at observation after ten minutes and fifteen minutes with p= 0,064 and p= 0,059. The calculation of average protection power of spearmint (Mentha spicata) leaves powder as a repellent to the american cockroach (Periplaneta americana) showed that there wasn’t average protection power over than 90%. The conclusion of this study showed that there there wasn’t average protection power over than 90%. So that spearmint (Mentha spicata) leaves powder wasn’t effective to used as repellent to the american cockroach (Periplaneta americana). Abstract

Correlation the quality of  microbiological dug well water and management of domestic waste with the incidence of diarrhea at  family in Terjun Village District Marelan 2013. The source of clean water which is mostly used by society is dug well. Dug well is easily contaminated by bacterial from the source of pollution. It can cause the disease like diarrhea. Moreover, waste is the source of disease too and the breeding ground of vector like fly.The purpose of this research was to know correlation between the quality of microbiological water of dug well and description management of domestic waste with the incidence of diarrhea at family in Terjun Village District Marelan.This research used the cross sectional design, to know how the correlation the quality of  microbiological water of dug well with the incidence of diarrhea and description management of domestic waste. This population are family in environment 20. And do the examination of dug well  water in respondent’s house with taking sampel by purposive sampling.The Result showed that the quality of microbiological water  of  dug well are  the  Total of uneligible coliform is 73,30% of water samples  and the uneligible Escherichia coli is 90% of water samples.  All family (100%) do not seperation the waste, all family do not provide the eligible trash, method  of  waste destruction that good is 83,30% and not good  is 16,70%. Diarrhea happened in every member family is 33,30%. There is no corellation between  the quality of the microbiological water with the incidence of diarrhea (p=1,000) and (p=0,251). Puskesmas should be made the socialization to use the water  filter and the water sanitation. The society provide the eligible  trash, do separation the waste, and keep healthy behavior of  use the water. Keywords: the quality of microbiological water, management of waste, diarrhea

Abstract

Content of sodium benzoate on canned fruit in the medan city 2013. Canned fruit is the fruit packaging in a sealed tin container so that the bodies of destroyers and air can not enter into it. In the canned fruit does not reveal any information on the use of sodium benzoate as a preservative canned fruit last for years. The purpose of this study was to determine the general idea of ​​whether or not the preservative sodium benzoate and abortion levels in fruit cans in circulation in the city of Medan in 2013. This research is a descriptive survey study that analyzes the content of sodium benzoate on canned fruit with a sample of 10 samples consisting of 5 samples of fruit and 5 samples of canned fruit syrup obtained from several supermarkets in the city of Medan. Samples were then taken for examination in the Central Health Laboratory in North Sumatra province. The results of this research indicated shows the content of the preservative sodium benzoate in 10 samples still meet the health requirements for public consumption. Highest levels of sodium benzoate found in klenkeng fruit syrup samples were coded samples B2 0,608 g/kg material and owest levels of sodium benzoate found in rambutan fruit samples were coded samples C1 0,037 g/kg material. Conclusion, it is suggested to the manufacturer should include all types of preservatives used in canned fruits and consumers should be more selective in choosing food that will be consumed especially food preservatives. Abstract

Egg in half cooked food prepared by boiling an egg approximately 5 minutes in order to get high protein from the eggs. Eggs can contain bacteria harmful food called Salmonella sp. Because of that the authors consider it necessary to conduct research on analysis of Salmonella sp. the food half cooked eggs. The purpose of this study is to find out about the analysis of Salmonella sp. the food half-cooked eggs are sold in the village Samanhudi Hamdan Maimoon Medan Medan District. The method used in this study is a descriptive to see observations and laboratory analysis to determine the content of the bacteria Salmonella sp. the food half cooked eggs. The results showed that in a sample of 10 egg mixture before brewed with hot water, 2 of 10 samples found to be contaminated with Salmonella sp eggs. Meanwhile, mix eggs for 10 samples, after brewed with hot water, discovered the bacterium Salmonella sp. Sp salmonella bacteria content in food is expected to meet the standards that refer to SNI 01-6366-2000 that is negative or zero (0). The conclusion of this study indicate that the bacterial content in foods by processing existing health ineligible because eggs contain bacteria that were previously brewed still contain bacteria after Salmonella sp. Eggs containing bacteria probably caused long storage and processing methods that do not meet the standards. The expected need for supervision and counseling to the holding of merchants by the local government on the importance of food processing eggs and to increase efforts to restructure the food so that the food received eggs already qualified healthcare consumers. Abstract

Analysis of lead (Pb) on branded terasi and terasi producted at home industry were sold in some traditional markets in the Medan city in 2013. Based on composition, terasi (seasoning  food is made from fermented shrimp or fish mixed with salt),  was divided into fish terasi, shrimp terasi and paste mixture of both. From several previous studies proved that fish and shrimp including marine life which contaminated by heavy metals as a result of marine pollution. This study was descriptive research, to describe the levels of lead (Pb) in terasi, where the objects of study were composed of 10 samples of terasi consists 5 samples of branded terasi and 5 samples of unbranded terasi taken purposively as well as the accept daily intake (ADI) of the terasi. Determination of lead (Pb) using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry in Provincial Health Laboratory of North Sumatera.The results showed from five samples of branded terasi, there is one positive contains lead (Pb) (1.80 mg/kg) and didn’t qualify (BPOM’s maximum limit of 1.0 mg/kg), while the other four relatively safe because were under value detection tool (Pb <0.002 mg/kg). For the terasi samples that processed at home industry (unbranded), four samples contains lead (Pb), but only one that was above the maximum limit (1.88 mg/kg), and one sample under value detection tool. Recommended to the local Department of Health and the BPOM of Medan City in order to perform inspection terasi on the market mainly derived from heavy metal polluted waters of the region is quite high. Abstract

Bacteria of the genus Salmonella sp is the bacteria causing the infection. If ingested into the body and cause symptoms called Salmonellosis. More than 90% incidence of human disease caused by consuming food contaminated with pathogenic bacteria, such as Salmonella and Shigella sp s. there were 60% of cases of poisoning in developed countries, a result of the handling of food is not good and bacterial contamination in food at the point of purchase. This study aims to determine the presence of Salmonella sp. the processed beef (meat burgers) before frying and after frying. Type a descriptive research is to describe the hygiene and sanitation and the contamination of Salmonella sp. the burger meat. Object of this study is the burger meat that is used by five merchants burger. The result showed that none of the burger vendors meet the requirements of hygiene and sanitation vendors selling burger place. Salmonella sp found in sample 2 and sample 4 before being fried and Salmonella sp found in sample 1 after frying Hygiene traders most meet health requerements are merchent 5 and merchent 3. merchents who at least meet the requerment of hygiene are merchant 1 and merchant 2. To consumers to attention to the hygiene of the seller and the place before buying a burger. To The environmental health section of the health department to give traders an appeal to hygiene and sanitation in order to become a better trader. Abstract

One of the health effort the society is preparing the facilities basic sanitation. Latrine healthy is an important part in preventing transmission of infection diseases originating from feces. For it, important to reck the factors associated with the use of latrines.This study aims to determine the factors associated with the utilization of latrine bucket at the Village Deli Sub Chart Medan Belawan in 2013.This type of research is a cross sectional analytic design. The population in this study were 393 families who have a latrine bucket with a sample of 100 respondents is by systematic sampling methods. Statistical test used was exact fisher test with confidence level p <0.05. This study aimed to determine the factors associated with the utilization of the bucket latrine in the Village Deli Sub Terrain Chart Belawan. The research method used is analytic cross sectional design. The sample was a family who has a latrine bucket of 100 respondents, results showed that the variables that have a relationship with the utilization of the bucket latrine is knowledge (P = 0.001), attitude (P = 0.012), education (P = 0.001), the condition of latrines (P = 0.001), water supply (P = 0.020) health (P = 0.001), and the role of community leaders (P = 0.001). Statistical analysis using exact fisher test. Conclusions of this study are all factors that have a relationship with the utilization of latrine bucket at the Village Deli Sub Chart Medan Belawan, namely knowledge, attitudes, education, latrine conditions, the role of health workers and the role of community leaders. It is therefore recommended need increased knowledge, improvement bucket latrine conditions, availability of clean water, as well as an increase in the role of health workers and community leaders in order to increase the utilization of latrine bucket. Abstract

Relationships Hygiene Deli River Water Users With Skin Health Complaints and Actions River Pollution In the Hamdan Village District of Medan Maimun in 2013. The people who using river as clean water can cause health complaints those are itching. The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between hygiene Deli River water users with skin health complaints and the description of river pollution action in the Hamdan Village District of Medan Maimun.This research is an analytical survey with cross sectional research design, to know how the relationships between with skin health complaints of river users and to describe river pollution action. The population of this study are all housewives or the people aged 16 years or over represent that use river water for bathing, washing and toilet which amounted to 52 people with total sampling. The data used are primary data and secondary data. The data was analyzed using chi square test. The results showed that the largest percentage of water users is based on the age at age 16-25 years, the largest percentage based on the level of education is primary school graduation the largest percentage based on the type of work are housewife, and most income is Rp. 800.000-Rp 1.500.000. River water users have not good hygien. Water users have experience health complaints of skin with the largest percentage of symptoms are itching. There was relation between hygiene with health complaints of skin (p = 0.025). Most of the river water users perform actions littering the river pollution into the river each day. Local authorities should provide facilities and infrastructure trash in the river and the construction of water supply and disposal of water for people to use a large enough clean water, not defecating in the river and not throw garbage in the river.
