Abstract

Analysis of lead (pb) in cooking oils before and after frying that used by merchant at traffic light area of Medan city in 2012. Some fried food merchants located at the intersection of the highway near the traffic lights, where it was risk contaminated by lead resulting smoke emission vehicles. Lipophilic of lead could be attached to the cooking oils. This study was descriptive research, intended to know the levels of lead (Pb) in the cooking oils before and after fried that used fried merchants caused smoke pollution. The object of this study were 10 points cooking oils samples consist of 5 samples before and 5 samples after fried. The results of the study showed that there was one sample before frying cooking oils that were not eligible under the Regulation of BPOM RI No. HK.00.06.1.52.4011 2009, while the other four were eligible. For samples of cooking oils after fried, all points were not eligible. Behaviors of merchants at five intersections also was still not in accordance with the principles of food hygiene and sanitation in food processed  to avoid contamination of lead (Pb). It was recommended to the Medan City Health Department to coach and supervise the fried food trade that were found sold friend food in the highway intersections. Abstract

Hygiene sanitation and analysis of artificial sweeteners on the produce of dodol on Kecamatan Panyabungan Kabupaten Mandailing Natal in 2012. Dodol is a kind of snack which is popular and spread among the Indonesian community. The process which is home industry made the control of sweetener usage is unclear, based on the producer desire. More over the process is still traditionally, as of the workers do not care enough to the hygiene sanitation of the dodol making process. The purpose of this research was to obtain the description of hygiene sanitation process and the analysis of artificial sweeteners content on the produce of dodol snack in Kecamatan Panyabungan Kabupaten Mandailing Natal in 2012. The type of this research was descriptive survey by observing sanitation hygiene and laboratory analysis to obtain artificial sweetener contents on dodol.  The result of the research showsed that hygiene sanitation principal on dodol making process which comply with Ministry of Health Decree of Indonesia Number 942 / Menkes / SK / VII/2003 was storage of raw. From the 7 samples of dodol which inspected, there were 3 samples which contain of artificial sweeteners with saccharin grading are 00274 mg/kg, 0.0073 mg/kg, and 0.0054 mg/kg which comply with health permit, according to Permenkes RI No.722/Menkes/Per / IX/1988. The Health Department needs to conduct a thorough counseling and supervision by the related institution (Department of Health) on the importance of food hygiene sanitation, also counseling to the producer in the usage of food sweeteners. Abstract

Sanitation management of public toilet and analysis the content of Candida albicans in the tub water of public toilet in some traditional market of Medan city in 2012. Many merchant and visitors influence the need for public toilets. public toilets in Indonesia is inadequate, especially sanitation of public toilet is still far from expected. The bacteria most commonly found in all places in the toilet is a bacteria that normally exist in human skin. Poor sanitation in the toilet will facilitate growth of bacteria, viruses, fungi such as Candida albicans.This study aimed to find a public toilet sanitation management and the existence of Candida albicans in the tub water of public toilet in traditional markets. This studies was descriptive, to describe the management of sanitary toilet in traditional markets and Candida albicans in the tub water in public toilets. Object of this study is sanitary public toilets in traditional markets. In this study, a survey was also conducted on the fungus Candida albicans tubs toilets that are common in some traditional markets. The results showed the Pasar 3 toilet almost all variables meet health requirements established Pasar 1 toilet while the least meet the variable requirements. Management traditional markets toilet all have the operational and financial resources have toilet cleaners. Some traditional market toilet tub drain and clean the toilet at regular intervals in accordance with predetermined. Not found the fungus Candida albicans in the tub water at the four public toilets traditional markets. To the managers should further enhance efforts to manage and improve the behavior of officers by providing training on sanitation sanitation especially in toilets and sanitation facilities complete according to the sanitary standards of public toilets. Abstract

Characteristics of Trader, Sanitation Processing and Analysis Content of Rhodamin B in Seasoning Chili Double-Milled in Traditional Market Sub-district Medan Baru in 2012. Rhodamin B is one of synthetic dyestuff commonly used as textile dyes are not allowed to use in food products. But there is still a trader who uses rhodamin B in food and beverage products. Seasoning chili double-milled is one of ingredient that is a result of grinding red chili until smooth. The housewife uses seasonings chili double-milled because it easy to use, cheap and time-saving. The purpose of this research was to know dyes rhodamin B in seasoning chili double-milled in traditional market sub-district Medan Baru in 2012, knowing characteristics of trader, the level of knowledge and sanitation processing seasoning chili double-milled. This research was a simple descriptive. The method used was applicable in the examination of laboratory in seasoning chili double-milled with chromatography paper and interview using a questionnaire to 11 traders in traditional market sub-district Medan Baru. Based on the observation known that the sanitary processing of seasoning chili double-milled did not meet the health requirement. The results of the laboratory examination known that all (100%) seasoning chili double-milled does not contain rhodamin B. The results of questionnaire showed that traders with knowledge of enough category as many as 8 (72.7%), traders with knowledge of good category as many as 2 (18.2%) and traders with knowledge of less category as many as 1 (9.1%). It was recommended to traders to pay more attention to sanitation processing and more wisely in choosing dye substance will be used and to the government to more tighten supervision and checks periodically on seasoning chili double-milled so there was no use dye substances not allowed as rhodamin B. Abstract

Relationship between the component of the house and the distance between house of SO­2 in the house around Namo Bintang final disposal waste Pancur Batu distric Deli Serdang regency in 2012. Final disposal waste has a very important function, but it potentially caused environment degradations. It is caused by a pile of garbage producing a variety of pollutans that could cause air pollution such as SO2 (Sulfur dioxide), either inside or out side the house around landfill side.This research was an analytic survey with a cross-sectional study design and the population was entire houses locating in Dusun III Desa Baru. The sample size taken was 32 houses, drawn by simple random sampling method.The aim of this study was determine the relationship between the component of the house, and the distance between house of SO2 in the house.The results showed that there wasn’t relationship between the components that include ceiling, windows home, family and guest room windows, vents, and disposal facilities kitchen smoke while SO2 levels, with p value = 0,848; 0,234; 0,081; 0,792; and  0,206. Construction of the walls of the house showed was relationship with SO2 levels, with p =0,034. There was no relationship between the distance between home and SO2 levels with p = 0,994. For that, it is needed an attention of the public and government to increase  public knowledge about the components of a qualified home through health promotion and improvement of the components in order to avoid air pollution. Abstract

The relation of Aedes aegypti larva existence and 3M Plus implementation with DHF disease in Area XVIII Binjai District Medan. Medan is one of DHF endemic area and the most endemic subdistrict is Medan Denai Subdistrict. The most effective way to eradicate DHF disease is with eradicating mosquito nest or PSN DBD, so that is important to know the Aedes aegypti larva existence and effectiveness of 3M Plus implementation.This research aims to know the relation of Aedes aegypti larva existence and 3M Plus implementation with DHF disease. The research location is in Area XVIII Binjai District Medan Denai Subdistrict. This research samples are 100 housewive, that is taken by purposive sampling technique. This research is analytic survey with cross sectional design study using Exact Fisher test.Results showed that the House Index value is 5%, Container Index is 4%. 3M Plus implementation that includes to good category 78% and bad 22% . The relation of Aedes aegypti larva existence with DHF disease has p=0,002. The relation of  3M Plus implementation with DHF disease has p=0,047. From the results, it can be known that there is relation of Aedes aegypti larva existence and 3M Plus implementation with DHF disease in Area XVIII Binjai District. It is suggested to Medan Health Department and Desa Binjai Health Service Center to socialize to do eradicating Aedes aegypti mosquito nest or PSN DBD regularly to decrease the number of DHF disease in Binjai District especially in Area XVIII. Abstract

Corelation of house characteristic with the prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis at public health centre  Simpang Kiri Subulussalam city 2012. Pulmonary Tuberculosis is a communicable disease which is caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis that lives in high humidity place, and house in one of media that gives high influence to the mycobacterium tuberculosis’s growth and its transmitting if the condition do not complete the term of health. Tuberkulosis bacteria can lives for weeks depend on the present of ultraviolet, the condition of ventilation, humidity, temperature and over crowding. The aim of this research was for determining the relation between the characteristics of house with the prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis.The design of this research was Case Control. Total samples of this research was 50 respondents which is consist of 25 respondents for case that as the sufferer of pulmonary tuberculosis which recorded on the medical record of public health centre Simpang Kiri Kota Subulussalam city, and 25 respondents for Control, that was the people who lives around the sufferer of pulmonary tuberculosis by matching the characteristics age and gender with case. The data was analiyzed by Chi Square with degree of confidence was 5 %. Accourding to the result of this research, there was a significant differend between the characteristics of citizen’s house who suffer from pulmonary tuberculosis. With the citizens who didn’t suffer from it. The data shows, that Odds Ratio Of the density of living is 13,5, ventilation is 30,5, type of floor is 22,1, lighting is 9,3, temperature is 27,5 and humidity is 84,4 it is estimated that the characteristic of citizen’s house who didn’t suffer from it this condition indicate that there is relation between the characteristic of house with the prevalence of pulmonary tuberculosis in public health centre Simpang Kiri area Subulussalam city in 2012. Abstract

Processing system of solid and waste water at Kabanjahe General Hospital according based on the Kepmenkes 1204/Menkes/SK/X/2004 about hospital environtmental health requirments 2012. Hospital as a health care facility is a gathering place for the sick and healthy people, or it can be the transmission of the disease and allow the environmental pollution and health disturbance. To avoid the risks and the health disturbance, it is necessary to the implementation of environmental health in according to health regulation. The purpose of this research is to gain an overview of waste water processing system at the Kabanjahe General Hospital, resource availability and the comparison with existing regulations. The present study is a descriptive one intended to analyze the solid and waste water processing of Kabanjahe General Hospital in 2012. The object of the study is all of solid and waste water processor. The data were collected by interview and observation based on the Kepmenkes RI No. 1204 of 2004 and then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the solid and liquid waste treatment is not in accordance with RI Kepmenkes No.1204 of 2004 (42.85% <80%). This can be seen from the scoring has been done, the temperature of incinerator <1000°C, no MoU with others, not do sterilization of shelter and radioactive waste is not handled according to the rules. The conclusion of this study is a processing of solid and waste water at the Kabanjahe General Hospital is not appropriate environmental the health requirements based on Kepmenkes RI No.1204 of 2004. Resource in processing solid and waste waters are not enough in number and function, so we need additional personnel, specific training for solid and waste water processing, the application of technical guidelines Waste Water Processing Plan and incinerator, conduct routine checks of wastewater composition and make a budget for the provision of rubbish bin which appropriate with health requirements. Abstract

Laboratory Analysis of the types and rate artificial dyes lollipop candy branded and unbranded around in Medan city. Lolipop candy is a popular product of snack to eat with variously types, have a prominently colors, that many people like it. In order to attract the consumer mostly the dyes substance as used to the product known as restricted formula due to the product may cause a dangerous impact over the human health. The objective study is to determine the sort and grade of artificial dyes rate on the lollipop branded candy and lollipop non-branded candy on Medan City for 2012. To view whether the uses of the artificial dyes on lollipop candy fulfilling the requirement for health. The method used study in survey research with descriptive one. The sample taken from Petisah Market, Thamrin Plaza, Medan Fair Plaza, Palladium Plaza, and also from Supermarket operation on this city, bring it to laboratory for examination. The result showed that from 7 types of the market lollipop candy existed on market and in examination found that it contained an artificial dyes as not permitted that is Ponceau 3R and another 7 samples of lollipop non-branded candy in examination, 1 samples containing artificial dyes not permitted that is Ponceau 3R. The rate noted on 7 samples of lollipop branded candy found at least 3 samples not fulfilling the requirement that is 441 mg/kg, 450 mg/kg, 451 mg/kg and 1 sample of  lollipop non-branded candy not seemly fulfilling the requirement because used an artificial dyes not permitted. Abstract

Hygiene Sanitation Implementation and Examination of Drinking Water Quality on Drinking Water Stands on Padang in 2012. Refill water was one of important water drinking resource used by people. In order to keep the water being safe therefor need a sanitation hygiene execution effort of drinking water stand.The Purpose of this research was to determine the execution of sanitation hygiene and nitrate level on drinking water stand. The method used in this research was observational and laboratory examination by used observation sheets and laboratory examination on 24 sample which selected by random sampling. The research was a survey and the result presented in a frequency distribution table.The result showed that 12 depot water stand (50%) was not qualified on drinking water stand sanitation hygiene. Most of drinking water stand was not qualified on internal supervision amounted 17 drinking water stand (70,8%). Almost all of drinking water stand was not qualified on licensing amounted 20 depot water stand (83,3%). 8 depot water stand (33,3%) was not qualified on microbiologic for drinking water. Nitrate level on basic and drinking water was qualified the nitrate level qualification. The conclusion of this research were most of drinking water stand not qualified for sanitation hygiene, internal supervision, and licensing. Some part of was not qualified on microbiologic then nitrate content was qualified at all samples of drinking water stand. There are recommended for the drinking water stand to executing sanitation hygiene. And, government should to implement external supervision then sanitation hygiene execution of drinking water stand would be good. Keywords: Sanitation, Supervision, Licensing, Water Quality
