Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of the origin of the universe according to the Big Bang Theory and Ibn Sina's cosmology, as well as to identify the similarities and differences between the two. The study seeks to understand how modern science and Islamic philosophy explain the formation of the universe through different approaches while exploring the possibility that these perspectives complement one another. This research employs a qualitative method using a library research approach. The data were collected from various sources, including books, scientific articles, journals, and other relevant literature discussing the Big Bang Theory, Ibn Sina's cosmology, and the relationship between science and Islamic thought. The collected data were analyzed using a descriptive-comparative method to identify the similarities, differences, and relevance of both concepts. The findings indicate that both the Big Bang Theory and Ibn Sina's cosmology provide rational explanations for the origin of the universe and acknowledge the existence of order in the process of its formation. However, they differ fundamentally in their approaches. The Big Bang Theory is based on empirical observations and explains the physical process of the universe's formation through the expansion of an extremely hot and dense initial state. In contrast, Ibn Sina's cosmology explains the origin of the universe through the metaphysical and philosophical concepts of Wājib al-Wujūd (Necessary Existent), Mumkin al-Wujūd (Contingent Existent), and the theory of emanation. This study concludes that these two perspectives should not be viewed as contradictory; rather, they can be understood as complementary approaches to explaining the origin and existence of the universe.

Abstract

The increasing cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity within contemporary societies has intensified the demand for educational models capable of fostering social cohesion while preserving cultural identities. Although multicultural education has become a significant discourse in educational studies, existing models predominantly emphasize curriculum reform, tolerance, and diversity awareness, with limited attention to the strategic role of local religious role models in internalizing multicultural values. This study aims to develop a Ketokohan-Based Multicultural Education Model by integrating Islamic values with exemplary local leadership to strengthen multicultural competence and social intelligence within Indonesian Muslim communities. This research employs qualitative library research using a conceptual framework approach. Data were collected from scholarly books, peer-reviewed journal articles, and authoritative documents published between 2018 and 2026. The analysis utilized content analysis, comparative analysis, and conceptual synthesis to construct an integrative educational model. The findings demonstrate that Islamic values such as justice ('adl), mercy (rahmah), consultation (shura), tolerance (tasamuh), and moderation (wasatiyyah) become more effectively internalized when transmitted through respected local religious figures who function as educators, mediators, and cultural leaders. The proposed model consists of six interconnected dimensions: Islamic values, local role models, dialogical internalization, multicultural competence, social intelligence, and social harmony. This framework contributes theoretically by extending multicultural education beyond classroom pedagogy toward community-based character formation and offers practical implications for Islamic educational institutions seeking to strengthen inclusive citizenship in pluralistic societies.

Abstract

Pancasila, as the foundation of the state, serves not only as a source of values for the formulation of national law, including Islamic family law in Indonesia. However, systematic studies that integrate the educational values of Pancasila and the maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah as a single epistemological framework for the development of Islamic family law in Indonesia remain limited. This study aims to formulate the integration of Pancasila educational values and maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah as an epistemological framework for the reform of Islamic family law in Indonesia. The study employs a juridical-normative approach with philosophical and conceptual analysis through a literature review. The results indicate that Pancasila provides ethical, national, and contextual orientations. Meanwhile, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah offers a teleological basis oriented toward maṣlaḥah, protection, justice, and humanity. The integration of these two can be seen through the correspondence between the value of belief in God and ḥifẓ al-dīn; the value of humanity and the protection of life, reason, and lineage; the value of unity and family cohesion; the value of deliberation and the principle of shūrā; and the value of social justice and the protection and proportional distribution of rights. These findings contribute to offering an integrative epistemological paradigm that combines the educational values of Pancasila and the maqasid al-sharia within a framework for the development and renewal of Islamic family law in Indonesia

Abstract

Islamic Social Reporting (ISR) provides Islamic banks with a mechanism to communicate their social, ethical, and sharia-related responsibilities. However, disclosure extent alone may not demonstrate substantive stakeholder accountability. This study examines ISR practices in Indonesian Islamic Commercial Banks using directed qualitative content analysis of annual, sustainability, and governance reports published during 2021–2025. The analysis evaluates four accountability dimensions: transparency, stakeholder responsiveness, substantive responsibility, and Islamic accountability. The findings show extensive disclosure across sharia compliance, governance, employees, community activities, zakat, and environmental responsibility, but evidentiary depth varies. Policies and activities are more frequently reported than stakeholder outcomes, impacts, feedback, and systematic follow-up, although selected disclosures provide evidence of resource allocation and stakeholder reach. These findings indicate that ISR disclosure breadth alone provides limited evidence of substantive stakeholder accountability. The study contributes an accountability-oriented framework that integrates stakeholder and Islamic accountability and emphasizes the evidentiary quality of ISR reporting.

Abstract

This study examines the management of digital fundraising at Inisiatif Zakat Indonesia (IZI) North Sumatra in supporting the financial sustainability of da’wah programs. The study focuses on how institutional management practices, digital fundraising strategies, and donor relationship management contribute to sustaining religious and social programs. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through semi-structured in-depth interviews with three key informants representing the program team, zakat education and fundraising partnership team, and the leadership of IZI North Sumatra. Data were analyzed thematically through data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that digital fundraising management is implemented through annual planning, centralized platform management, digital campaign implementation, and periodic evaluation. IZI North Sumatra utilizes WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Zakatpedia to expand donor engagement and maintain communication with contributors. However, limited human resources remain a challenge in producing consistent digital content and strengthening data-based fundraising management. The study also shows that digital fundraising contributes to supporting da’wah sustainability through programs such as assisted villages and shelters for patients’ families, although specific allocations for da’wah activities remain limited. This study contributes to the understanding of digital fundraising as a managerial mechanism that connects institutional governance, donor engagement, and the sustainability of Islamic social programs.

Abstract

This study examines the methodological relationship between Qur’anic tadabbur and contemporary tafsir and clarifies their epistemological boundaries and contributions to understanding revelation. It employs qualitative library research. Primary sources include the Qur’an, Qawā‘id al-Tadabbur al-Amtsal li Kitābillāh, and works on tafsir methodology, while secondary sources comprise scholarly articles on tadabbur, maqāṣid al-Qur’an, Qur’anic pedagogy, and contemporary interpretation. The literature was classified into normative, conceptual-theoretical, and contemporary scholarly sources and analyzed through comparative content analysis across purpose, object, epistemic basis, analytical instruments, procedures, validity criteria, and expected outcomes. The findings indicate that tafsir provides the scholarly foundation for establishing the meaning of Qur’anic verses, whereas tadabbur develops that meaning through reflection, internalization, and contextual application. The two should not be treated as a binary opposition because tafsir may incorporate reflective dimensions, while tadabbur continues to require methodological control from tafsir. This study proposes a five-stage conceptual model: reading the verse, establishing its meaning through tafsir, reflecting on its message, internalizing its values, and applying them contextually. Its novelty lies in formulating a methodological sequence that connects interpretation with the actualization of Qur’anic values without equating tadabbur with tafsir. As a conceptual study, the proposed model requires empirical examination among readers, educators, or interpretive communities

Abstract

Leaders in a government are figures of success in realizing a country. This research departs from the occurrence of geo-political conditions in various countries, where in reality there are still many countries that act arbitrarily. This research aims to explain the concept of justice in Al-Ghazali's politics in state society by explaining good governance according to Islam and describing how to be a just leader. This type of research is library research-based research. Primary data comes from Al-Ghazali's book which is related to political perspectives, such as political ethics which is a translation of the book At-Tibru Al-Masbuk Fi Nasihat Al-Muluk. Meanwhile, secondary data comes from journals, articles and documents related to this research. The results of this research provide an illustration that in a government to achieve justice, Al-Ghazali in his political philosophy said that the main step taken is to have an intelligent, moral leader. Al-Ghazali grouped several principles of justice that a leader must possess, namely: recognizing the value of power and its risks and dangers, the ruler must be happy and fond of asking for advice from the ulama, moved to eradicate injustice, humble, aware that the ruler/leader is basically also the people, likes to help/care about the people, qana'ah, gentle, loves the people, does not violate the Shari'ah.

Abstract

This article examines the paradigm of muamalah from a Qur’anic perspective by moving beyond a descriptive inventory of individual principles toward an integrated normative framework for commercial and social relations in Islam. The study is situated within Islamic Studies, particularly Qur’anic studies and fiqh muamalah. It employs qualitative library research using a thematic-interpretive approach. The primary sources comprise the Qur’an and selected classical and contemporary tafsir, while secondary sources include fiqh muamalah literature and recent peer-reviewed studies on Islamic economic ethics and contemporary transactions. The literature was selected purposively according to relevance to the Qur’anic verses and principles under examination, scholarly authority, and its usefulness for connecting textual interpretation with contemporary economic realities. The analysis identifies six interconnected principles: permissibility (ibahah), halal, justice (‘adl/qist), maslahah, mutual assistance (ta‘awun), and documentation (kitabah). The principal contribution of the study lies in its conceptual synthesis: these principles should not be understood as isolated rules. Rather, they constitute an integrated architecture of Qur’anic muamalah governance in which ibahah opens room for innovation, halal establishes substantive boundaries, justice regulates the distribution of rights and contractual conduct, maslahah provides ethical direction, ta‘awun supplies a social dimension, and documentation strengthens procedural accountability. The study further clarifies how thematic interpretation can connect Qur’anic norms with fiqh reasoning and contemporary transactional challenges, including digital commerce, fintech, and technology-mediated contracts. Accordingly, the article contributes to Islamic Studies by offering an integrated conceptual framework rather than merely restating separate legal principles.
