Abstract

This study aims to examine the nature, sources, and classification of knowledge from the perspectives of Western philosophy and Islamic thought. Using a descriptive qualitative approach through the method of library research, data were collected from relevant primary and secondary literature. The analysis was conducted using historical and thematic approaches by examining philosophical texts as well as classical and contemporary Islamic literature. The findings show that Western philosophy classifies knowledge based on its origins namely empirical (based on experience), rational (based on reason), and intuitive (based on intuition) and distinguishes between a priori knowledge (prior to experience) and a posteriori knowledge (derived from experience). Meanwhile, Islamic epistemology regards revelation, reason, and the senses as complementary sources of knowledge that do not contradict one another. Knowledge in Islam is also classified hierarchically, such as ‘ilm al-yaqīn (knowledge through reliable information), ‘ayn al-yaqīn (knowledge through direct observation), and haqq al-yaqīn (true and certain knowledge). Furthermore, knowledge in Islam is differentiated into naqliyah and aqliyah sciences, fardhu ‘ain and fardhu kifayah obligations, as well as worldly and otherworldly knowledge. Comparatively, Western epistemology tends to be secular and separates the spiritual dimension from the sources of knowledge, whereas Islam integrates the divine dimension throughout the entire epistemic process. Thus, the Islamic paradigm of knowledge is holistic and transcendental, in contrast to the Western approach, which tends to be dualistic and fragmentary. These findings highlight that in Islam, knowledge is not only a means of understanding reality but also a path toward closeness to God and the construction of a meaningful life. This study emphasizes the importance of an integrative approach in understanding and developing knowledge, particularly in addressing the entrenched dichotomy of sciences in contemporary education. In this context, Islamic thought and Western philosophy can, in fact, enrich one another. Although Western epistemology tends to emphasize the rational and empirical aspects while detaching them from the spiritual dimension, the systematic and analytical methods developed in Western traditions can complement the Islamic worldview, which is both transcendental and ethical. By critically and selectively linking the two, it becomes possible to construct a more holistic framework of knowledge one that is not only focused on technical advancement but also spiritually and ethically meaningful for humanity.

Abstract

The development of technology has an impact on all aspects of human life, including education. Apart from the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, the era of society 5.0 has emerged. This requires education to face it. Islamic education as part of education continues to strive in contemporary life to be able to face the various challenges that arise. For that, how to formulate supervision of Islamic education in the era of society 5.0. This study uses a mixed method, namely field studies and literature by exploring data based on discussions that are part of data collection techniques. This discussion examines the era of society 5.0 and the challenges of contemporary Islamic education. Abstract

The evaluation process within Islamic education holds a crucial role, functioning not only as a tool to measure students’ academic achievements but also as an instrument to assess their moral, spiritual, and behavioral competencies. As Islamic education aims to develop comprehensive individuals characterized by faith, knowledge, and noble character, evaluation should align with these multidimensional goals. This study aims to elaborate the concepts, guiding principles, evaluation methods, and implementation strategies of educational evaluation in Islamic education, particularly in the context of contemporary challenges. Employing a descriptive qualitative research method through extensive literature review from national and international academic sources within the last five years, this article identifies various techniques applied in Islamic educational settings, ranging from traditional oral and written tests to modern digital-based assessments. The findings highlight that evaluation in Islamic education should be based on Islamic values derived from the Qur'an and Hadith, while also embracing technological innovations. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of implementing a holistic and integrative evaluation system that measures cognitive abilities, moral character, spiritual development, and social skills. This study emphasizes the importance of implementing a holistic evaluation system that includes assessments of students’ cognitive abilities, moral character, spirituality, and social skills. This necessity arises from the fact that evaluation systems commonly applied in many Islamic educational institutions still predominantly focus on cognitive achievements, while moral and spiritual aspects are often overlooked. In reality, the challenges of contemporary Islamic education, especially in the digital era, are not limited to academic mastery but are closely related to moral degradation, value disorientation, and the negative influence of instant digital culture on student behavior. Therefore, this article proposes an integrative evaluation model based on Islamic values, which is not only relevant to be applied in the digital era but also essential as a strategic solution for establishing a comprehensive, fair, and technology-adaptive evaluation system for Islamic education that remains grounded in Sharia principles. This model is expected to serve as a reference for Islamic educational institutions in designing a more holistic, balanced, and contextually appropriate evaluation framework in line with the needs of contemporary Islamic education.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the author's curiosity about character education which has not been fully understood by students and has not been fully used as the main guideline and has not been fully implemented in the world of education in Indonesia, especially character education according to Imam Ghazali in the book Ayyuhal-Walad. The purpose of this study is to explain. (1) character education in general. (2) character education according to Al-Ghazali. (4) Gen-Z character education and (5) the relevance of character education according to Al-Ghazali with Gen-Z character education in the era of Globalization. This research is a library research, with the object of research being the book Ayyuhal-Walad and supported by several other books. The research approach used is a philosophical approach. Abstract

Teori Big Bang, Penciptaan Bumi, Al-Qur’an dan Sains. Penafsiran ilmiah terhadap teori Big Bang dalam konteks Al-Qur’an merupakan upaya untuk memahami hubungan antara ilmu pengetahuan modern tentang asal usul alam semesta dan ayat-ayat Al-Qur’an tentang penciptaan. Dalam penafsiran ini, para ulama berupaya memadukan penemuan-penemuan dalam kosmologi, fisika, dan astronomi dengan konsep-konsep yang terkandung dalam teks suci Islam. Mereka mencari persamaan atau hubungan antara konsep ilmiah seperti Big Bang dan deskripsi Al-Qur’an tentang penciptaan alam semesta. Pendekatan ini bertujuan untuk memadukan pemahaman agama dan ilmiah secara harmonis, sehingga memicu refleksi mendalam tentang bagaimana keyakinan agama dapat bekerja sama dengan pengetahuan ilmiah untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang misteri penciptaan alam semesta.

Abstract

Water is one of the resources that is very important for life because it has a vital function for the survival of life on this earth, especially rainwater which is said to be a blessing from Allah SWT. This research aims to explore and understand more deeply the concept of rainwater in the Qur'an, especially the process of rainwater and the descent of rain from al-munz. This researchwas prepared using a literature study approach that focuses on data collection techniques, recording and processing research materials. This research uses a qualitative approach based on existing theories and materials. Data collection is done by taking theories from books and journals. The results of this study found that the Qur'an describes rain as a sign of the greatness of Allah SWT and a source of life with its divinely regulated process. Rain not only plays an important role for agriculture and life but as a reminder to humans of the power and grace of Allah SWT. This research is expected to add deeper insight that the truth of the Qur'an can be proven through natural phenomena and various sciences.

Abstract

Plants are the foundation of most terrestrial ecosystems. In thematic encyclopedias it is explained that plants are the key to life. Without them, other  organisms will perish. Plants are included in the part of very valuable natural resources so that their sustainability needs to be maintained so that the diversity of plant and animal species and their ecosystems do not become extinct. In the Qur'an, Surah Al-An'am/6:99 Allah SWT emphasizes that Allah SWT created various types of plants to meet the food needs of mankind, plants can grow and revive previously dry land, plants also provide benefits for life, both as food, medicine, and natural beauty. Departing from the background above, the author wants to make a more in-depth study related to the special qualities of olives according to the perspective of the Qur'an and science (theory of the concept of olives in QS. al-An'am verse 99). With a qualitative approach, the data sources used in this study come from books, articles, journals, and writings that are relevant to the research theme. This research is expected to provide new insights, contributions, and a broader understanding of the topic being studied.

Abstract

Abstract This paper explores the impact of qiṣāṣ on justice and social harmony in Nigeria, a nation known for its rich cultural and religious diversity. Qiṣāṣ, which underscores the principle of fair retribution in Islamic law, provides a framework for resolving conflicts and addressing grievances, thereby fostering community trust and collaboration. By analyzing its historical context and current applications, the study illustrates how qiṣāṣ can reduce cycles of violence and support restorative justice in Nigeria. The paper aims to identify the challenges and opportunities of integrating qiṣāṣ into Nigeria's legal system, incorporating perspectives from various stakeholders. Utilizing a blend of historical and descriptive research methods, the paper gathered data through interviews, observations, and literature analysis. Findings of the paper suggest that effective implementation of qiṣāṣ could greatly enhance social cohesion and improve the prospects for peace and sustainable development in Nigeria's diverse society. The paper therefore, advocates for genuine enforcement of the law in areas where it is practiced and its integration into the broader Nigerian legal framework.

Abstract

Keadilan merupakan hal penting dalam kehidupan seseorang. Karna seseorang berhan mendapatkan perlakuan yang sama dalam sistem peradilan, tanpa ada diskriminasi atau penindasan. Dengan menerapkan keadilan dalam semua aspek kehidupan, kita dapat menciptakan suasana ramah di mana setiap orang mempunyai kesempatan yang sama berkembang dan berkontribusi. Seperti hal keadilan gender. Saat ini keadilan gender sedang menurun. Dan banyk perempuan merasa dirugikan atas ketidakadilan dalam perekonomian, pendidikan dan lain sebagainya. Dengan penelitian kepustakaan, yaitu menggunakan bahan bersama yang relevan langsung dengan topik yang diteliti untuk melakukan penelitian. dapat bertujuan mengetahui bagaimana keadilan dalam dua agama, yaitu Islam dan Hindu, dan menyertakan ayat dari agama tersebut mengenai keadilan gender. Hasil penelitian yaitu: Ada unsur mendasar dalam kitab suci agama Islam dan Hindu yang menyatakan penghormatan terhadap kesetaraan gender. Kedua agama tersebut mengajarkan bahwa laki-laki dan perempuan mempunyai nilai yang sama di mata Tuhan dan mempunyai hak yang sama atas keselamatan dan realisasi spiritual. Prinsip kesetaraan gender juga berlaku, namun pengaruh budaya, tradisi, dan penafsiran kitab suci dapat menimbulkan variasi dalam penerapan kesetaraan gender dalam praktik sosial. Terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman dan praktik kesetaraan gender. Ajaran agama Islam dan Hindu memuat aturan dan prinsip yang mendukung perlindungan dan pemberdayaan perempuan, seperti hak waris perempuan dalam Islam dan penghormatan terhadap dewi dalam agama Hindu. Terdapat bukti bahwa pandangan beberapa agama mengenai kesetaraan gender dapat berubah dan berkembang seiring berjalannya waktu. Meskipun terdapat prinsip-prinsip kesetaraan gender dalam agama, namun masih terdapat tantangan dan perdebatan dalam praktik kesetaraan gender di masyarakat. Dalam beberapa tradisi dan budaya, pandangan tradisional mengenai peran gender masih ada, dan upaya untuk mencapai perubahan sosial mungkin memerlukan perjuangan yang berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The adverse effects of alcoholic beverages have increased crime rates in Indonesia. As a preventive measure, the government has issued a policy regulating the distribution of alcoholic beverages. However, this policy is considered problematic and has sparked controversy from various parties, including religious institutions. This article explores the views of the Bahtsul Masail Institute (LBM) PWNU DIY on the regulation of alcoholic beverages in Indonesia. Specifically, it examines the arguments that form the basis for supporting this regulation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review and descriptive-analytical presentation. The primary source is taken from the bahtsul masail decision of LBM PWNU DIY on November 9, 2024, which took place at the ORA AJI Islamic Boarding School in Sleman. Meanwhile, secondary sources are taken from news, articles, and other relevant supporting scientific works. The findings of this study show that there are three main arguments that emerge: First, the use of maqashid al-syariah. Second, consideration of the social and economic situation. Third, legal compromise. These three findings form the basis for the LBM PWNU DIY in supporting the government's policy on the restriction of alcoholic beverages. The findings also show a shift in the reasoning of bahtsul masail in the process of exploring fiqh law from the concept of “qauli” (following the views of classical scholars) which is theocentric to “manhaji” (using a contextual methodological framework) which considers actual human needs.
