Abstract

Indonesia is an agrarian country which focuses on agriculture sector, but has a lot of acid reaction soil. Among all plant species for cultivation activity, soybean is one of the most often plant which use for cultivation activity in Indonesia. The Purpose of this research is finding the effect of pH on root nodule formation, nitrogen and phosphorusuptake and crop production on some varieties of soybean in Inceptisol at screen house. This research use randomized block design factorial method, with 2 factor, first was pH, second was soybean varieties which quantity and weight of root nodule, plant’s nitrogen and phosphorus content, plant’s nitrogen and phosphorus uptake, soil pH, dry plant weight, and also quantity of pod plant as the parameter. The result of this research show that Tanggamus was the variety which had quantity of pod most is about 108 and also the most high nitrogen content 3.218 % in both condition of pH.Keyword : Soil pH,Soybean, Root Nodule, Nitrogen, phosphorus

Abstract

The influence of Cordyceps militaris on Coptotermes curvignathus Holmgren. (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae) mortality in laboratory. This research was to study influence of entomophatogen fungus C. militaris against C. curvignathus in laboratory. This study was conducted in Pest Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty, University of Sumatera Utara, Medan during of October 2014 with using completely randomized design (CRD) nonfactorial with nine treatments and three replications : control, C. militaris sprayed (10, 20, 30 and 40 g/ 100 ml water), C. militaris sowed (10, 20, 30 and 40 g). The results showed that the highest mortality (100%) of C. militaris on sprayed 30 and 40 g/ 100 ml water and sowed 30 and 40 g in seventh day; the lowest (78.33%) on C. militaris sprayed 10 g/ 100 ml water. Termites was infected by C. militaris suffered mimification and after a few days the colonies was growth with white colored (micelium) around the body. The fastest of mortality time at 50% was 3.67 days on C. militaris sowed 40 g and the longest was 5.00 days on C. militaris sprayed 10 g/ 100 ml water and C. militaris sowed 10 g.Keywords : Coptotermes curvignathus, Cordyceps militaris, mortality, spray, sowe

Abstract

Encapsulation of Some Trichoderma sp. on Soybean Seed to Control Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. The research aimed was to get species of Trichoderma which mixed alginat or tapioca encapsulated soybean seed to inhibiting S. rolfsii. This research was conducted in Laboratory of Plant Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara, use Randomized Block Design 3 factors and sixteen treatments : alginate, tapioca, alginate + S. rolfsii, tapioca + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. harzianum, tapioca + T. harzianum, alginate + T. koningii, tapioca + T. koningii, alginate + T. viridae, tapioca + T. viridae, alginate + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, tapioca + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. koningii + S. rolfsii, tapioca + T. koningii + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. viridae + S . rolfsii, tapioca + T. viridae + S. rolfsi, respectively with four replications. The result showed that all of Trichoderma sp. isolates which mixed alginat or tapioca have high viability in inhibiting S. rolfsii. All of Trichoderma isolates enabled to reduce damping off on soybean seed. The treatments alginate + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, tapioca + T. harzianum + S. rolfsii, alginate + T. koningii + S. rolfsii have high viability in inhibiting damping off by 100 % and followed tapioca + T. viridae + S. rolfsi and alginate + T. viridae + S . rolfsii (75%) and tapioca + T. koningii + S. rolfsii (50%).Key words: encapsulated, damping off, Sclerotium rolfsii, Trichoderma sp.

Abstract

Cryopreservation is a technique for long-term storage nuftah plasma. In this technique cells and meristem or other parts of plants were frozen and stored in liquid nitrogen at a temperature -196°C. The objective of the reseacrh was to know effects of type and duration of soaking cryoprotectant on the viability of roselle seed in cryopreservation. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Seed Technology Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan with a height ± 25 meters above sea level, from September to October 2014, using a randomized block design with 2 factors. The first factor is the type of cryoprotectant with 4 type of PVS1 ; PVS2; PVS3; PVS4 and the second factor of soaking cryoprotectant with 3 levels of 60 minutes; 90 minutes; 120 minutes. Parameter observed were the rate of germination (day), normal seedling (%), abnormal seedling (%), seeds die (%), vigor index, fresh weight of seedling (g), dry weight of seedling (g). The results showed soaking treatment of various types of cryoprotectant significant effect on the observation parameters the rate of germination (day), normal seedling (%), vigor index, fresh weight of seedling (g) and dry weight of seedling (g). Treatment of soaking cryoprotectant significant effect on the observation parameters abnormal seedling (%) and vigor index. Interaction type and duration of soaking cryoprotectant significant effect observation parameters on the rate of germination (day) and vigor index. Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the effect of GA3 concentration and soaking period on the seed yield of shallot. Research was conducted at Hatoguan Village, Palipi Subdistrict, Samosir from February up to July 2014, carried out by using randomizes block design with two factors, replicated three times. The first factor was GA3 concentrations (50 ppm; 100 ppm; 150 ppm; 200 ppm; and 250 ppm) and the second was soaking period (30; 60; and 90 minutes). Parameters observed were the number of plant producing flowers per plot, the number of umbel per plot, seed weight per umbel, and seed weight per plot. The results showed that among all parameters observed, only the number of plants producing flowers per plot and seed weight per umbel were affected by GA3 concentration. The highest number of plants producing flowers and seed weight per umbel were produced by G4 (200 ppm GA3) i.e 10,780 plants (43,12 %) and 0,202 g respectively. Meanwhile, only seed weight per umbel was significantly affected by soaking period. The correlation between soaking period and seed weight per unbel showed positive linear regression.Key word: GA3 consentration, soaking period, shallot

Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify the influence of GA3 Concentration and Dose of Boron on the seed yield of Samosir Shallot Sagala accesion. The research was conducted at Hatoguan Village, Subdistrict Palipi, Samosir, began from February until July 2014, using factorial randomized block design with two factors, replicated three times. The first factor was GA3 concentration (0, 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 ppm) and the second was dose of boron (0, 1.5, 3 and 4.5 kg/ha). Parameters observed were percentage of flowering plants per plot, umbels number per plot, seeds weight per umbel and seeds weight per plot. The results showed that the percentage of flowering plants per plot was significantly affected by GA3 concentration, and seed weight per umbel by dose of boron. The highest percentage of flowering plants per plot was 41,27% produced by G4 (200 ppm GA3), and the corelation between dose of boron and seed weight per umbel showed positive linear regression. However all other parameters were not significantly affected by both treatments.Kata kunci : GA3 Concentration, Dose of Boron, Shallot

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh ZPT GA3 dan pemberian pupuk fosfor terhadap pembungaan dan hasil biji bawang merah. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Desa Hatoguan, Kecamatan Palipi, Kabupaten Samosir, Provinsi Sumatera Utara dengan ketinggian tempat + 930 meter dpl yang dimulai bulan Februari sampai Juli 2014 dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial dengan 2 faktor perlakuan dan 3 ulangan, yaitu konsentrasi GA3 (0, 25 ppm, 50 ppm, 75 ppm dan 100 ppm) dan dosis pupuk SP 36 (0; 10 g/plot; 20 g/plot dan 30 g/plot Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwaterdapat interaksi antara konsentrasi GA3 dan dosis pupuk SP 36 yang berpengaruh nyata terhadap persentase tanaman berbunga per plot dan jumlah umbel per sampel dengan kombinasi perlakuan terbaik pada G3P2 (75 ppm GA3 dan 280 kg/ha SP 36) yang menghasilkan persentase tanaman berbunga per plot tertinggi (24%) dan jumlah umbel per sampel terbanyak (1,27 umbel). Sedangkan perlakuan GA3 dan pupuk SP 36 tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap parameter lainnya.Kata kunci :GA3, pupuk SP 36, bawang merah.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui dampak ketebalan abu vulkanik pada erupsi Gunung Sinabung terhadap sifat biologi tanah di Kecamatan Naman Teran, Kabupaten Karo.Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Biologi Tanah Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan dan di Balai Pengkajian Tanaman Pertanian (BPTP), Medan pada bulan Mei-September 2014.Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan melakukan pengamatan berdasarkan dengan ketebalan abu yang ada di lapangan dengan pengambilan sampel tanah diambil di daerah kecamatan Naman Teran, Kabupaten Karo dan dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali yaitu pada bulan April 2014 dan Juli 2014 dengan pengambilan sampel berdasarkan ketebalan abu yang tidak terkena A0 (tanpa), A1 (≤2cm), A2 (2-8 cm) dan A3 (>8cm).Adapun parameter yang diamati adalah pH tanah dan pengukuran aktivitas mikroorganisme tanah (respirasi).Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pH tanah dan pengukuran aktivitas mikroorganisme tanah (respirasi) bahwa semakin tebal abu yang menutupi permukaan tanah maka nilai pH dan respirasinya akan menurun.Kata kunci : abu vulkanik, ketebalan abu, sifat biologi tanah.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the type of Phosphate Solubilizing Fungi (PSF) as a result from isolated Andisol in Naman Teran district Karo sub district that affected by the eruption of mount Sinabung with some ash thickness around 0 cm (not affected), >0 cm - <2 cm (thin), >2 cm - 8 cm (moderate) and >8 cm (thick), and to determine its ability to dissolve phosphate on solid media. Isolation and potential test on solid media using media Pikovskaya with phosphate source Ca3(PO4)2. Evaluates JPF potential qualitatively by measuring the holozone diameter using index values dissolution. The results were obtained 4 PSF genus found in Andisol’s soil affected by the eruption of mount Sinabung: Aspergillus sp., Trichoderma sp., Penicillium sp.1 and Penicillium sp. 2. PSF were able to survive up to a thickness of Asharound >8cm is Aspergillus sp. Based on the test results the potential of solid media Penicillium sp.2 has the best ability to dissolve phosphate.Keyword: phosphate, volcanic ash, phospate solubilizing fungi

Abstract

This research aims to known inheritance soybean plant on F1 descent. The research was conducted at Agriculture Faculcity Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan in June 2014 until February 2015. The research counducted in 2 phase. The first phase is crossing, are G1 (♀Detam II X ♂Anjasmoro), G2 (♀Anjasmoro X ♂Detam II), G3 (♀Grobogan X ♂Anjasmoro), G4 (♀Anjasmoro X ♂Grobogan), G5 (♀Grobogan X ♂Detam II) and G6 (♀Detam II X ♂Grobogan). The second phase is F1 test. The percentage of successfully are 32.22-46.45%. The highest result of crossing G1 and the lowest G4. G1 and G2 significantly different of flower age, plant height, number of seeds and pods with seed 1, number of seeds and pods with seed 2, number of seeds and pods with seed 3, number of pods containing, number of seed per plant, seed weight per plant and 100 seeds weight. G5 and G6 significantly different of flower age, harvesting time, primer branch number, number of seeds and pods with seed 2, number of seeds and pods with seed 3, number of pods containing, number of seed per plant and seed weight per plant. Difference between F1 and F1 reciprocal occur because of maternal inheritance inindividuals crossing result.Key words : crossing, Anjasmoro, Detam II, Grobogan, F1 test
