Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of stagnation in secondary-higher education on economic development and human capital in Southeast Sulawesi and to examine its implications for regional financial policies. Using a systematic literature review approach based on BPS data, empirical journals, and the latest education policies, this research finds that stagnation in access and quality of secondary-higher education is reflected in low school participation rates, decreasing average years of schooling, and significant regional and social group disparities. Structural barriers such as poverty, limited educational infrastructure, disparities in teacher distribution, and the effectiveness of educational aid policies are the main causes. Consequently, the workforce structure is dominated by lower secondary graduates, educated unemployment and informal workers remain high, and the demographic bonus has not been optimally utilized for regional economic transformation. The findings of this research indicate that regional fiscal policies—particularly the allocation of education budgets and the effectiveness of assistance programs—still need to be significantly improved, especially for secondary-higher education and underdeveloped areas. The reformulation of budget management strategies, improvement of education aid governance, and cross-sector collaboration are the main recommendations to ensure that education investments truly impact the enhancement of human capital quality and inclusive economic growth. This research also highlights the importance of data-driven policy innovation and strengthening the monitoring of educational programs to accelerate the sustainable transformation of human development in Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

The use of PayLater as a payment method can influence people’s lifestyles, particularly among Generation Z (1997–2012), who are familiar with technology. Although most of them do not yet have an income, Gen Z shows a high tendency to shop using PayLater, but often faces difficulties in managing their bills. Previous studies have examined the influence of financial literacy, impulsive behavior, and lifestyle on PayLater usage; however, they have not discussed its impact on hedonistic lifestyles that do not align with budgets. The advancement of financial technology, ease of access, fast registration processes, and various e-commerce promotions have further increased the use of PayLater among students. Therefore, this study aims to re-examine the influence of financial literacy, impulsive behavior, and lifestyle on PayLater usage among Gen Z at the University of Bengkulu, involving 100 respondents, It was found that financial literacy has a negative effect, while impulsive buying behavior and lifestyle have a positive effect on the use of Shopee PayLater among Generation Z at the University of Bengkulu.

Abstract

During 2024 batik sales at UMKM Batik Bambu Kenanga experienced unstable sales and limitations in online sales through whatsapp and offline sales with limited use of digitalization. This research aims to design a Business Model Canvas (BMC) as strategic decision making in formulating business development strategies at UMKM Batik Bambu Kenanga. The main focus of this research is limited to business development through the Channels element, which includes distribution and promotion channels both offline and online. The data collection process uses a qualitative approach with a case study method that includes interviews, observations, and documentation with owners and employees. The research results that the Business Model Canvas (BMC) design has succeeded in describing the real conditions of the UMKM Batik Bambu Kenanga through nine main elements. The business development strategy formulated from the BMC design results is focused on the Channels element and is divided into two stages, namely short-term and long-term strategies. The use of Business Model Canvas as an analysis and strategy development tool has proven to be effective in helping UMKM Batik Bambu Kenanga formulate business development steps that are more adaptive, structured, and sustainable.

Abstract

The purchasing decision is an essential part of consumer behavior that describes how individuals or groups make choices, use, and evaluate a product to meet their needs and desires. The decision-making process is heavily influenced by the information available regarding the product's quality, the brand's credibility level, and the benefits or usefulness of the product for consumers. This research aims to analyze the extent to which live broadcasts, online customer reviews, and brand image can influence purchasing decisions, as well as to understand  the interaction among these three factors in the context of marketplace platforms (e commerce), particularly Tokopedia. The data used is derived from primary sources using a survey method as a data collection approach,conducted through the distribution of questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression methods. The  population used as a reference is Generation Z who use the Tokopedia application and reside in the Samarinda area. The results of the study indicate that the live broadcast feature on the Tokopedia platform is effective in building consumers' confidence to purchase products, through real-time explanations, interaction with hosts, and limited-time offers. The research results also confirm that reviews from other users, especially those with logical arguments and a significant number of reviews, play a dominant role in influencing the purchasing decisions of Generation Z consumers who tend to rely on social proof. Furthermore, consumers are more likely to purchase products from brands with a strong visual identity, clear differentiation, and consistency in communication through digital platforms

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational culture and transformational leadership style on employee performance at Astra Motor Honda M. Yamin Samarinda Dealer. The research uses a quantitative approach with a population of 78 employees, using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results show that organizational culture does not have a significant effect on employee performance. Meanwhile, transformational leadership style has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. This indicates that leadership plays a more dominant role in improving employee performance compared to organizational culture. This study is expected to provide useful input for management in improving employee performance and developing effective human resource management strategies.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of price and income on contemporary coffee demand through product quality among Generation Z at convenience coffee stores in East Jakarta. This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to respondents who have purchased coffee at convenience coffee stores. The number of respondents in this study was 219 people, selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis method used in this study is Partial Least Square (PLS) with the assistance of SmartPLS software to test the relationships between variables in the research model. The results show that price does not have a significant direct effect on coffee demand, while income and product quality have a positive and significant effect on coffee demand at convenience coffee stores. In addition, the results also indicate that price and income have a positive and significant effect on product quality. In testing the indirect effects, it was found that product quality is able to mediate the effect of price on coffee demand and also mediate the effect of income on coffee demand. This indicates that consumers do not only consider price when purchasing coffee, but also pay attention to the quality of the product offered and their purchasing power which is influenced by their income level. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that income and product quality are important factors influencing contemporary coffee demand at convenience coffee stores, while price does not directly affect demand but plays a role through consumers’ perceptions of product quality. This study is expected to contribute to the development of economic knowledge, particularly in the field of consumer behavior, and to serve as a reference for convenience coffee store businesses in determining pricing strategies and improving product quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Influence of Regional Income and Population on the Distribution of Economic Growth in Southeast Sulawesi Province. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques using time series data from 2020 to 2019. The results of the study indicate that partially, the Income variable does not have a significant effect on the distribution of economic growth with a significance value of 0.869 (> 0.05). Meanwhile, the Population variable has a significant effect on reducing economic growth with a significance value of 0.101 (<0.05). Simultaneously, income and population have a significant effect on economic growth, as indicated by the F test significance value of 0.049 (<0.05) and the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.577. This study provides an empirical contribution to the formulation of more effective government policies in efforts to grow economic growth in Southeast Sulawesi.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of work skills and work environment on employee work productivity at PT XYZ Balikpapan. A quantitative approach was employed with a sample of 41 employees selected based on specific criteria. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed through multiple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS Statistics version 27. The results indicate that work skills have a positive and significant effect on employee work productivity, highlighting the important role of individual capabilities in achieving optimal performance. In contrast, the work environment does not have a significant effect on work productivity, suggesting that it functions more as a supporting factor rather than a primary determinant of employee productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Effective Communication of Generation Z Employees in the Marketing Communication Division of a Banking Company. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. In this study, a purposive sampling technique was used to select informants who fit the research focus, namely generation Z employees in the Marketing Communication division of PT Bank KB Indonesia Tbk who are directly involved in daily work communication activities. Based on these criteria, the researcher determined four informants consisting of one Marketing Communication Coordinator and two Marketing Communication Staff. The implementation of effective communication in the Marketing Communication division has been running quite well by applying the REACH communication principles, which include respect, empathy, audibility, clarity, and humility. This is evident in the mutual respect among employees, the ability to understand coworkers' perspectives, the use of various communication media, and openness in accepting criticism and admitting mistakes in the work communication process. The characteristics of generation Z have an influence on communication patterns in the work environment. Generation Z tends to have a more open, communicative communication style, and is easily adaptable to the use of digital technology in work communication activities. In addition, generation Z is also more active in conveying ideas and opinions in work discussions, thus supporting the creation of more dynamic work communication. Although work communication in the Marketing Communications division has been running quite well, several barriers remain that impact its effectiveness. These barriers include differences in perceptions regarding messages, unclear work instructions, and differences in communication styles between generations in the workplace.

Abstract

This study analyzes transparency and accountability in village financial management. The background of this study is the continued problems in the implementation of transparency and accountability in village financial management, such as limited access to public information and suboptimal presentation of financial reports to the public. The purpose of this study is to understand the importance of implementing transparency and accountability in village financial management as an effort to realize good governance and prevent budget misuse. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Primary data were collected through interviews with informants, namely the Village Head, Village Secretary, Finance Officer, Village Consultative Body and Village Community. Secondary data were obtained from documents owned by the Mekarlaksana Village Government. The data in this study were analyzed by referring to the provisions contained in the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 20 of 2018. The results of the study indicate that Mekarlaksana Village has implemented the principles of village financial management in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 20 of 2018, but its implementation has not been optimal in several aspects. This demonstrates the need for improvements in village financial management to comply with the provisions stipulated in Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 20 of 2018.
