Abstract

The mangrove litter which has been decomposed contributes organicmatter as food source for many species of fish and other organisms in themangrove ecosystem. The purpose of this research is to know the decompositionrate of R. mucronata litter leaf and to know the nutrient content of carbon (C),nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) in the R. mucronata litter leaf which beenreleased during the decomposition time. This research was done at Serambi DeliBeach Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province during July untilNovember 2014. This research used purposive sampling method at three stationsand the determination of the station is done by seeing the availability of R.mucronata at the Serambi Deli Beach. The results showed that the decompositionrate of R. mucronata litter leaf on day 105 are 6,41 in stasiun I, 3,56 in station IIand 5,35 in station III. The fastest decomposition rate is the station I with 6,41and the slowest decomposition rate is the station II with 3,56. The nutrient ofcarbon during decomposition in 105 days are 23,48% at station I, 21,96% atstation II and 28,4% at station III. Nutrient of nitrogen which been decomposedon day 105 are 0,42% in station I, 0,7% in station II and 0,54% in station III.Nutrient of phosphorus during decomposition in 105 days are 0,20% in station I,0,22% in station II and 0,23% in station III.Keywords : Serambi Deli Beach, Decomposition, Rhizophora mucronata

Abstract

Tidal flood case is a problem that often happens in coastal areas. This happens because of the surface of the ground low or even the same compared to the surface of sea water. Besides that, this can also happens due to the increase of sea levels so that when there is a tide the sea water will come and flooded the coastal areas. The purpose of this research is to analyze the condition of tide in coastal areas of Medan city in Medan Belawan sub district and provide a map vulnerability to the increase of sea levels in Medan city. The number of increasing sea levels is obtained from the average of increase tidal per year. This number then will be associated with land use data, topography data, population data, and also direct interview with the local residents. After that, VCA method will be used based on PERKA BNPB N0. 2 the year 2012 to acquire the class vulnerability in each village and projected into the form of map with overlay method. The result of this research showed that the inundation area caused by the increase of sea levels always rising. Based from the VCA method and direct interview, resulted that most of vulnerability that happens in Medan Belawan sub district is belong to the high vulnerability. This result is also suitable with map vulnerability made by BNPB that stating North Sumatera is belonging in category of high vulnerability class. Therefore it needs further treatment to decrease the effect of the increasing sea levels.Keyword : Sea Level Rise, Rob, VCA method.

Abstract

Maskoki fish (Carassius auratus) is a type of fish that have other names which have a gold fish body shape ranging from red, yellow, green, black and silvery. As fish are included in the category of ornamental fish, then to produce the best maskoki fish, needed a good environment and foods high in nutrients. Good food nutrition will support color, good health. Color is one of the reasons ornamental fish demand by the public, so farmers need to retain the color of ornamental fish in particular by giving feed containing pigment. The work done to obtain a uniform bright colors in fish is added to the pigment in the feed source. Source of natural pigments can be obtained from flour carrot (Daucus carota). The purpose of this study was to determine the dose of carrot flour that can enhance the color of maskoki fish. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications, with doses of 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% for 30 days. The addition of carrot powder through the feed can improve the color of maskoki fish. Giving carrot flour with a dose of 5% produces a brighter color than the other doses. Carrots Flour Addition on the feed had no effect on the weight and length maskoki goldfish. Keywords: Carassius auratus, maskoki fish, Daucus carota, color
