Abstract

Redfin fish is one of an interesting ornamental fish. Intensive cultivation can bedone by optimizing the stocking density. This reasearch aims to determine the effect ofstocking density of redfin fish, on the growth and determine the optimum stockingdensity with an average length is 5,04 cm and an average weight is 1,01 gram. Redfinare used as much as 162 fishes and maintenance container used are 9 aquariums withsize 40 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm and the volume water are 12 liters each aquarium. Duringthe observed, fish are given an artificial feed as much as 5% of body weight per day.Feeding frequency are 3 times a day. The method used is Completely RandomizedDesign with the treatment of stocking density 1 fish/liter (P1), 1,5 fish/liter (P2), and 2fish/liter (P3). Ended treatment showed length P1 5,59 cm; P2 5,49 cm; P3 5,24 cm andweight P1 1,40 gr; P2 1,28 gr; P3 1,15 gr and feed comsumption 409,05 gr. Abstract

The germination of freshwater fish has good future prospect in local andexport. One of freshwater that has a higher selling price and market demand ismuch enough in local or export is goldfish (Carracius auratus). This researchaims to get the comparison quantity of good parents for maximal spawning anddetermine the ratio of male parent and female parent of goldfish which differenton hatching and survival rate of larvae. This research method was used acompletely randomized design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The firsttreatment was the comparison between male parent and female parent 2 : 1, thesecond treatment was the comparison between male parent and female parent 3 : 1and the last treatment was the comparison between male parent and female parent4 : 1. This research was conducted in 2015 on July until August. The result of thisresearch showed that the comparison of parents quantity has significant effect onthe degree of fertilization and showed the highest hatching rates got from the lasttreatment (82. 87 %) in comparison of male parent and female parent 4 : 1 whichthe chances of sperm to fertilize an egg was greater so that the number of eggsthat hatch will also be greater and the highest survival rate of larvae and alsoobtained from the last treatment (81. 82%).Keyword: Hatching Rate, Survival Rate, Goldfish.

Abstract

Strait of Malacca is a strait that located between the Peninsular of Malaysia (Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore) and the island of Sumatra (Indonesia). The strait of Malacca linked between the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean in the west. The aim of this study was to determine the variability of the concentration of chlorophyll-a and sea surface temperature (SST) as well as its relationship with the catch of tuna (Euthynnus sp.). The method used in this study is a sampling of respondents directly in the field with the interview. The factors of abundance fish Sea Surface Temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a concentrations, to get the value of SST and chlorophyll-a concentrations using a satellite imagery Aqua’s Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS). The data of pelagic tuna (Euthynnus sp.) obtained from the Fishing Port Ocean in Belawan. The monthly average of SST in the Malacca Strait from Aqua MODIS satellite imagery in 2009 – 2014 range between 28,9°C– 32,29°C. The SST of Malacca Strait is following of the wind pattern that occurred in Indonesian water. The highest mackerel tuna catches occurred in the west season and the second transition. The concentration of chlorophyll-a in the research area (2009 – 2014) of Aqua MODIS satellite imagery in (2009 – 2014) ranged between 0,59 – 1,89 mg/m3. The west season is the most dominating of the chlorophyll-a concentration around 1,89 mg/m3. The relationship between SPL and the concentration of the chlorophyll-a by catch tuna showed the negative correlation. In the west and the first transition season, tuna fish has a high correlation to chlorophyll-a and low SST.Keywords : Malacca Strait, Aqua MODIS,Wind, Chlorophyll and Sea Surface Temperature, and Mackarel Tuna.

Abstract

Koi (Cyprinus carpio) is a type of fish that can be cultivated to serve asornamental fish. As ornamental fish, koi fish that have beautiful and bright colors canbe high value. Color is one of the reasons ornamental fish demand by the public, sofarmers need to retain the color of ornamental fish that is by giving feed containingpigments. The work done to obtain a uniform bright colors in fish is added to thepigment in the feed source. Source of natural pigments can be obtained from flour carrot(Daucus carota L.). The purpose of this study was to determine the dose of carrot flourthat can enhance the color of koi fish. This study used a completely randomized design(CRD) with three replications, with doses of 0%, 1%, 3%, and 5% for 30 days. Theaddition of carrot powder through the feed can improve the color of koi fish. Givingcarrot flour with a dose of 5% produces a brighter color than the other doses. CarrotsFlour Addition on the feed had no effect on the weight and length growth koi fish. Keywords: Fish Koi, Cyprinus carpio, Color Enhancement, Daucus carota L.
