Abstract

Comet fish (Carassius auratus) is a kind of ornamental fish and very popular in the world. Comet fish has a distinctive feature that can be seen from the beautiful color, beutiful fins especially elongated tail fin, and makes the comet fish has a high selling value. The color should be upgraded and maintained its quality. Such efforts to increase color has be done by adding natural pigment resources into the feeds. Natural pigment resources can be obtained from Spirulina platensis, the Spirulina were give 1 %, 3 %, and 5 % for 30 days. The purpose of this research is to determine dosage of Spirulina platensis make it optimal to increase the color of Comet fish. This Research using Complete Random Design (CRD) with three treatment repetition and control. The results of 3% Spirulina was significant bright color, compared of 1% and 5% Spirulina were give. Abstract

Putra Deli Beach is located in Deli Serdang with an area of approximately 22 ha. This study determine the potential of mangrove ecosystem ecotourism as an object, calculate the suitability and mangrove ecotourism carrying capacity, inventory of facilities and supporting infrastructure in Putra Deli Beach, potential of mangrove obtained by transect measurement of mangrove while the tour suitability obtained by using mangrove ecotourism suitability criteria and supported by interviews with the community and visitors to establish the carrying capacity of the aera and the concept of management. The study was conducted in March until July 2015. The method used was purposive random sampling for potential mangrove and interviews. Samples were taking from three stasiun, stasioin I (located at the West Coast of Putra Deli Beach), station II (located in the middle of Putra Deli Beach) and station III (located in the eastern part of Putra Deli Beach). Mangrove species found include: Avicennia alba, A. lanata, A. marina, Rhizophora mucronata, Bruguiera cylindrica, Acrostichum speciosum, Lumnitzera littorea with population density values exceeding 1000 trees/ha. The mangrove ecotourism suability index at the first station was 71,79% Suitable with Condition, station II was 76,92% Suitable with Condition and station III was 74,35% Suitable with Condition. The carrying capacity (DDK) at first station was 20 persons/day, 24 persons/day at second station and 16 persons/day at third station. The management concept of Putra Deli Beach was definited by the public and controlling by government.Keywords : Ecotourism, Mangrove, Institutioal Patterns, Putra Deli Beach

Abstract

In the cultivation of fish consumption, the most important factors are the growth and survival. Catfish is a freshwater fish consumption that growth relatifely fast. This study was aimed to know the influence of EM-4 in feed to the growth and survival rate of catfish and to determine the amount of EM-4 effective concentration to the growth and survival rate of catfish (Clarias gariepinus). Fish fed 5 % of fish body weight per day. Feeding frequency of three times a day at 08.00 WIB, 13.00 WIB and 18.00 WIB. This study used a completely randomized design with 4 treatments : K (control), P1 (2ml/kg), P2 (4 ml/kg), P3 (6 ml/kg) with three replications. The result was tested by ANOVA, the results showed that concentration EM-4 on feed significantly affect the survival and weight of catfish, but did not significantly affect the fish length. Best weight growth rate was in P3 treatment and the best survival rate was in P2 treatment.Key words : Clarias gariepinus, EM-4, growth, survival rate

Abstract

Sei Nypah beach are located in the eastern coast of Sumatra, it has a variety ofactivities that affect the water quality. Information and understanding of environmentalchange is indispensable in ecosystem monitoring efforts.This research aims todetermine the status of Sei Nypah’s the water quality. This research had been conductedon May to Juny 2015 in Sei Nypah Beach, Serdang Bedagai District, North SumateraProvince. There are three station observed, Station 1 : aqua culture activities area;station 2 : agriculture activities area; and station 3: tourism activities area. Samplingwas done three time within 2 months. The value of physical and chemical parameters ofwater include temperature from 29,2 – 31,9 oC, turbidity 2 – 8 mg/l, pH 7,4 – 8,5,salinity 25 – 30 o/oo, DO 7,6 – 8 mg/l, BOD 0,6 – 1,7 mg/l, COD 11,12 – 18,36 mg/l,nitrate 0,0029 – 0,0041 mg/l, and phosphate 0,015 – 0,075. Sei Nypah’s water quality topollution index and storet method for station 1, station 2, and station 3 according werecatagorized to class lightly polluted.Keywords : Sei Nypah Beach, Pollution Index, Storet.

Abstract

Mud crabs in the mangrove ecosystem play an important role and potentialcommodity, however the population has decreased. Knowledge level of maturity of gonadmud crab is very important to note because this level illustrating the ability of aquatic animalsto reproduce in order to remain sustainability.The aim of the research is to know the effect ofdifferent density on the gonad maturity and difference in carapace length with the maturitylevel of gonad in the mangrove area of Sicanang Medan Belawan, North Sumatera.Theresearch has been analyzed in July-September 2015 in Sicanang Medan Belawan, NorthSumatera. The research using purposivesampling method that consists of 3 stations. Mudcrabs (Scylla serrata)are captured using traps and observed level of maturity gonad. The totalwere amount 66 mud crab tails. Respectively gonad maturity level mud crabs in the period inJuly was I. 50 %, II. 36,36 %, III. 4,54 %, IV. 9,09 %. Gonad maturity level mud crabs in theperiod in August is I. 60,86 %, II. 30,43 %, III. 4,34 %, IV. 4,34 %. Gonad maturity levelmud crabs in the period in September was I. 57,14 %, II. 19,04 %, III.14,28 %, IV. 9,52%.The gonad maturity level V was not found in all stations. Between the carapace with thematurity indexs of gonads Correlation coefficientwas 0.907 . Abstract

Mud crab is potential mangrove fishery that have important economic value. Tanjung Rejo Village has broad mangrove that used to support society economy causing degradation mud crab habitat. This study aims to know mangrove ecosystems condition in Tanjung Rejo village and analyze mangrove density effect to mud crab abundance. This study held in February until March 2016. Determination sampling using purposive sampling method and divided into 3 stations with different mangrove density condition. This study analyzed is mangrove ecosystem condition, water quality, mud crab population and mangrove density correlation with mud crab abundance. The results show mangrove density condition in Tanjung Rejo village at station 1 highly density category 2433 trees/ha, at station 2 low density category (damaged) 900 trees/ha and at station 3 medium density category 1000 trees/ha. Regression equation of the influence mangrove trees density and mud crab abundance is Y = 389.3 + 0,0348x. Abstract

This study aims to determine the condition of coral reef ecosystems, suitabilityand carrying capacity of beaches, diving and snorkeling. This study was conducted inNovember-December 2015 in the Berhala Island Serdang Bedagai North SumatraProvince. The data used primary data. The data obtained directly from approximatemeasurement, surveys, observations, interviews with travelers and relevant parties. Thesecondary data is the data obtained from the study of literature and documents relatedagencies. The results showed that the percent coral cover is very appropriate category(S1) by 75%. Suitability shore excursions including highly appropriate category (S1)amounted to 81.19% and the carrying capacity of the region amounted to 382tourists/day. Suitability dive tourism including appropriate category (S2) of 74.07% anda carrying capacity of 494 regional tourist/day. Suitability snorkel tours including highlyappropriate category (S1) of 78.39% and a carrying capacity of 214 regional tourist/day.Keywords: Ecotourism, Fish, Coral Reef, Berhala Island

Abstract

Bosur beach located in Central Tapanuli where it has great potential to be developed as a tourist beach. This study aimed to analyze the suitability of coastal tourism on biophysical and also the level carrying capacity Bosur beach as a tourist attraction and to know the perception of tourist. The study was held on August 2015. Analyze of the data used purposive sampling method. This research used suitability analysis method and carrying capacity of the region, and the perception of tourists to find out the beauty value and comfort value. The results of the suitability analyzes for beach tourism is classified very appropiate (S1), for category of swimming is classified appropiate criteria (S2) and a category boating and Banana boat is classified appropriate criteria (S2). Carrying capacity of the Bosur beach can accomodate 884 tourists every day. Perception of tourists about beauty value of Bosur beach is 49%, and the comfort value of Bosur beach is 51%.Keywords : Bosur beach, Carrying capacity of the region, Land suitability assessment,The perception of tourists, Tourist attraction

Abstract

Human and industry activities in Nelayan Village can be increasing the present of heavy metal in acuatiq environmental and can put on effect to aquatic organism. The purpose of this research is to analyze the content of heavy metals Cadmium (Cd) and Plumbum (Pb) on roots, barks, leaves and knowing the ability of A. marina in accumulating heavy metals. The sample was taken from Nelayan Village, District of Medan Belawan. The analysis of heavy metals Cd dan Pb is carried out in Balai Riset dan Standarisasi Industri Medan, by using the Atomic Absorption Spectrofotometer (AAS) method. The results of this research indicated that the heavy metal content of Pb in the roots, barks, and leaves is larger more than Cd. Based on the bioconcentration factor, the ability of A. marina in accumulate heavy metals Cd and Pb categorized low.Keywords : AAS, Avicennia marina, Cadmium (Cd), Heavy Metal, Plumbum (Pb)

Abstract

Gillnet is a fishing gear for pelagic fishes as the fishing target. The research aimed to review unit bloating and analyze the composition, diversity, dominance, size and analysis of the economy. This research was conducted in Pumpkin TPI Deli Serdang Regency from August until December 2015. Result of the research found 3 species of fish those were Rastrellinger kanagurta as the mayor catch is 816.2 kg while the minor catches is Scomberomorus commerson as 65.1 kg and Selaroides leptolepis as 37.8 kg. During research, the value of diversity index both appliance catch have low between 0.182-0.355 while the value of dominance index high between 0.832-0.920. It indicate that selectivity both appliance catch’s high. The rate value at the appliance catch gillnet as the target catch is aqual to 40.81 kg/trip, higher from the sideline catch that is aqual to 5.145 kg/trip. Gillnet catch the fish with an average 58.44% competent minimum size. The effort analysis to value the Revenue-Cost Ratio (R/C) of 1.2 which means that the effort is worth doing and worth Payback Period (PP) of 0.8 years.Keywords: Gillnet, Composition of catches, The target catch, The sideline catch, Effort analysis
