Abstract

Organic mangrove material is mostly used as a detritus such mangrove leavesthat fall throughout the year. Organic particles or litter become living places for bacteria, fungi and other microorganisms. The objective research was to measure decomposition and know the nutrient content of carbon (C) nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) leaf litter A. alba released during decomposition in Bagan Asahan Village, Tanjungbalai Sub-district of Asahan Regency. The study was conducted from February to April 2017 using purposive sampling method by looking availability of A. alba Bagan Asahan Village. Result of highest carbon nutrient content (C) station I 18,85% lowest station III 11,58%. The highest nitrogen (N) station III 2, 62% lowest station II 2,29%. The highest phosphorus (P) with the same value station III 0,03% lowest station II 0,01%. Highest C/N station results station III 6,44% lowest station II 4,70%. Dry weight of litter decreased period during the 90 days of the highest average station II 21,70 g lowest station II 2,13 g compared with the initial weight of 50%. The highest value decomposition rate between station III 2,81 lowest value 0,52. The highest average value decomposition rate (k) station I e.i. 41,70 lowest station III e.i. 1,66.Keywords: Avicennia alba, Bagan Asahan Village, Decomposition, Element Nutrient, Leaf Litter, Mangrove.

Abstract

Pantai Romantis adalah salah satu tujuan destinasi wisata di Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya dukung kawasan pantai, indeks kesesuaian wisata, persepsi wisatawan terhadap potensi dan strategi pengelolaan untuk mengembangkan Pantai Romantis sebagai kawasan wisata pantai. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama bulan September 2017 di Desa Sei Nagalawan Kecamatan Perbaungan Kabupaten Serdang Bedagai Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Parameter kualitas air yang diukur antara lain kecerahan, kedalaman, kecepatan arus, suhu, warna, bau, oksigen terlarut, salinitas, pH dantotal coliform. Pantai Romantis memiliki nilai 71.25 % untuk kegiatan rekreasi pantai yang tergolong dalam kategori S2, 88.23 % untuk kegiatan duduk santai yang tergolong dalam kategori S1, dan 80.24 % untuk kegiatan berenang yang tergolong dalam kategori S2. Daya dukung kawasan untuk kegiatan duduk santai sebesar 400, rekreasi pantai sebesar 106 dan berenang sebesar 40. Dari total 42 orang responden, 90% (38 orang) menyatakan indah dan 88% (37 orang) menyatakan nyaman berwisata di Pantai Romantis. Strategi pengelolaannya adalah dengan memaksimalkan sumberdaya yang ada dan menambah sarana prasarana yang baru yang dapat membuat daya tarik tersendiri. Untuk pemasarannya, promosi dapat dilakukan melalui   internet maupun media cetak serta dapat bekerjasama dengan pemerintah dan masyarakat dalam membantu pembangunan kawasan pantai.Kata kunci: Pantai Romantis, indeks kesesuaian wisata, daya dukung kawasan

Abstract

The condition of mangrove in Asahan regency is currently under pressure due to its utilization and less concern management in sustainability aspects. The decrease of mangrove area will have a direct impact for fishery resources especially shrimp. The purpose of this research was to know about community structure of shrimp in Ecosystem mangrove waters of Bagan Asahan Village, Tanjungbalai District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatera Province. This research was conducted for 3 months from March – May 2017. The method of this research used purposive sampling and determined 3 stations sampling that was near tourist and settlement area, estuary and toward beach. There were 8 shrimp found in ecosystem mangrove. Metapenaeus lysianassa had highest abundance of 38%, Penaeus merguiensis 33%, Metapenaeus affinis 16%, Macrobrachium equidens 9%, Leptocarpus potamiscus 1%. Penaeus monodon, Exopalaeomon styliferus and Squilla mantis had lowest abundance with value 0%. The value of Diversity Index (H') of shrimp ranged from 1.027 to 1.447, the value of Evennes Index ranged from (E) 0.741 to 0.964 and the Dominance Index (D) ranged from 0.271 to 0.402.Keyword: Bagan Asahan, Coummunity Structure, Shrimp

Abstract

R. mucronata is the dominan type of mangrove that grown in Hamparan Perak district. Mangrove’s litter that fall into the forest floor will be decomposed therefore it is involved the microorganism role such as fungi to produce nutrient in the waters. Fungi are the main decomposers in the decomposition of mangrove leaves. The purpose of this research is to know the population and the frequency of fungi colonization, hence to examine the number of species and index of fungi diversity in R. mucronata leaf litter at various levels of salinity. This research was conducted in February – June 2017. Purposive sampling is done by determine the 3 point observation station based on salinity difference. The results of this study show that the highest fungi population is at station 2 with salinity level 9 – 16 ppt ie 30,50 × 102 cfu / ml. The frequency of fungi colonization on the highest litter decomposition process is the type of Aspergillus. The highest number of fungi species is salinity level 1 – 8 ppt as many as 14 types of fungi. The diversity index of fungi type in Hamparan Perak district indicates the same range that is moderate which is describes adequate productivity, balance ecosystem and ecological pressure.Keywords: Mangrove, Leaf Litter, Rhizophora mucronata, Decomposition, Fungi, Nutrient of aquatic, Hamparan Perak District

Abstract

Analysis of business feasibility and selectivity of purse seine gear vessels of 30 GT determines that a fishery business can be developed because it has a profit, or in the business can not continued because the business result have a loss. The purpose of this research is to know description of purse seine gear, to know the business feasibilityby counting value productivity, analyze the financial and technical aspects, to know selectivity of purse seine gear on the catch vessel of 30 GT in Sibolga waters North Sumatera Province. The results of the research the length of purse seine nets for 30 GT boats of about 300 – 500 m were called of Rapat Trawls. The purse seine around Rp 586,508,000 up to Rp 845,174 per year and quite profitable. The purse seine mesh size of the cod 2 cm selective size to the type of Layang fish (Decapterus spp.) 8,573 tails or 22,4%, the fork length size were 20.0 up to 30.0 cm, average size were 25,525 cm. Cakalang fish (Katsuwonus pelamis) that were 3,300 tails or 8.6%, the fork length size were 25.0 up to 40.0 cm, average size were 31,061 cm and Kembung fish (Ratrelliger spp.) that were 4,215 tails or 11,02%, the fork length size were 15,0 up to 26.0 cm.Keywords: Sibolga Waters, Business Feasibility, Profitable, Selectivity, Purse Seine, Vessel 30 GT, North Sumatera Province.

Abstract

Binasi Beach is located in Tapanuli Tengah district and has potentially to be developed as a tourism object. This research aimed to analyze the suitability level of coastal tourism which is reviewed based on the carrying capacity of Binasi Pantai area and to know perception tourists. It was conducted on February - March 2017. The data collection technique used is purposive sampling, divided into three stations. Analysis of data used analysis of the suitability of tourism, assessment of the suitability of tourism activities, the carrying capacity of the area, and the perception of tourists. Results of swimming suitability analysis on the three stations have the same category as very suitable (S1). Conformity Index value for recreational tourism on the three stations has the same category as very suitable (S1). Different value of Boating station resulted category 1 as appropriated category (S2) while, station 2 has very suitable category (S1), station 3 has inappropriated category (S3). Carrying capacity of the Binasi Beach can accomodate 1.548 tourists every day. The tourist marked the Binasi Beach area with beautiful natural scenerly (79%) and comfortable (68%).Keywords: Analysis of the carrying capacity region, Binasi beaches, Land suitability assessment, Suitability analysis, The perception of tourists.

Abstract

One method for analysis of growth pattern of Mangrove Crab (Scylla serrata) is to measure of morphometric and meristic character in nature. The purpose of this research is to know the morphometric size and the range of Meristik Mangrove Crab and to know the growth pattern of Mangrove Crab in Sentosa mangrove ecosystem. The characters observedwere the width of the carapace, the length of the carapace, the height of the carapace, the optical groove widths, the right and left chela lengths, the length of the right and left profundus chela, the right and left chela, and the fixed meristik character. Morfometric data analysis used cluster analysis to research data by using scale or distance euclidean. The resultof cluster analysis yields the closest resemblance on stage 1 to 8 with the coefficient value of 0,000 (closest) while the furthest resemblance at stage 39 is composed of sample no 1 and 4 with coefficient value 40,535. The equation of regression between the width of carapace and body weight of mangrove crab caught in each station in mangrove waters of Kampung Sentosa Barat is Y = 54,754 + 0,217 X and value R = 0,954 with a negative allometric growth pattern.Keywords: Morphometric, Meristik, Growth Pattern, Mangrove Crab, Sicanang Belawan

Abstract

River is one of the water source which is very important for people because it can serve as a source of drinking water, and environmental sevices also as tourist attractions. This research was conducted on May-June 2017 at Babarsari River Kutalimbaru District of Deli Serdang Regency, it’s to analyz the influence of community activity on water quality of Babarsari river and to describe perception of visitor and manager on Babarsari tourism. The parameters observed were temperature, brightness, flow Rate, DO, pH, BOD5, N, P and total coliform. The results showed that according to Government Regulation No. 82/2001 and STORET rating system at stations 1 and 2 it categorized in class A (Very good) by fulfilling the Quality Standard, while Station 3 and 4 werecontaminated in medium condition with scores of -25 and -17. Perception of visitors to Babarsari tourism amounted to 75.6% stated Comfort and beauty level of 79.1% entered in the beautiful category. There are 5 managers or 100% who handle the garbage by stacked and then burned, there is a ban for visitors littering in order to maintain cleanliness of the area.Kata kunci : water quality, human activities, quality standart, Babarsari rivers

Abstract

Pintu Air Village is an area that has an intertidal zone which is a tidal and tall area that has a very large diversity of macrozoobenthos. This research aims to Analysis of macrozoobenthic community structures and their chemical physics relationships in the intertidal zone. The research was conducted at the Intertidal Zone of Pintu Air Village in May-June 2017. Determination of sampling location using purposive sampling method at 3 stations. Taking Macrozoobenthos on 9 plots in the intertidal zone. Results of the research obtained 19 species of macrozoobenthos. Density ranged from 7,6-11,7 ind/m2, Diversity ranged from 2,18-2,19 including the moderate category, Uniformity ranged from 0,54-0,58, Dominance ranged from 0,11-0,12 dan Distribution pattern ranged from 0,71-0,87. Pearson correlation results between the diversity of macrozoobenthos to temperature, depth and salinity are moderate, pH and brightness are low, DO is very low.Keyword : Pintu Air Village, Intertidal Zone, Macrozoobenthos, CommunityStructure, Water Quality.

Abstract

River Seruai is one of the rivers in Deli Serdang District of North Sumatera, that has been polluted by human activities. Pollution that occurs can caused the decreased of river water quality. This study aimed to identify the suitability of water quality of River Seruai for freshwater aquaculture in order to improve fish farming in the river. The study was conducted from May 2017 to July 2017 along the River Seruai of Deli Serdang District of North Sumatra Province. The measurement of water quality parameters was done at 3 (three) stations. Based on the plankton abundance, it still be stated that the Seruai River was still support for fish farming activities because the river has plankton which was a source of natural food for aquaculture fish although the number is relatively low ie average 47.25 cells/liter. Scores of water quality parameter of River Seruai based on Standard Quality PP No. 82 of 2001 that the scor of 1st station = 0, score of 2nd = -2 and score of 3rd station = -2. The status of the water quality of each station I is in accordance with the quality standard, the 2nd and 3rd station is lightly contaminated. The overall status of River Seruai Water Quality has a score = 0. Based on PP No. 82 of 2001 it can be concluded that the waters were suitable for freshwater fish farming activities.Keyword : Water Quality, Aquaculture, River Seruai, Deli Serdang
