Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of a professional training program for elementary school teachers in improving teaching skills. The training program focuses on developing pedagogical competence, the use of educational technology, and classroom management. This research employs a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an experimental group that participates in the training and a control group that does not. Data were collected through teaching skills tests, classroom observations, and training satisfaction questionnaires. The results show that the experimental group experienced significant improvement in teaching skills compared to the control group. These findings indicate that professional training is effective in enhancing the competence of elementary school teachers, ultimately contributing to the improvement of classroom learning quality.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum in elementary schools and the learning innovations applied within it. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation at several elementary schools that have implemented the Merdeka Curriculum in Gunungsitoli, North Sumatra. The results of the study show that teachers play a central role in developing competency-based learning that aligns with the characteristics of students. Learning innovations include the use of project-based learning, thematic learning, and the integration of technology. However, challenges such as limited facilities and insufficient training remain obstacles to the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This finding suggests the need for ongoing training and improvements in school facilities to support the successful implementation of the curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PBL) by teachers in primary schools in Indonesia. PBL has proven to be effective in enhancing 21st-century skills, such as problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. Although many primary schools in Indonesia have started to implement this approach, various challenges remain, including the lack of teacher training and limited resources. This research uses a qualitative approach with case studies in several primary schools in Indonesia, utilizing interviews and observations as data collection methods. The results show that the implementation of PBL has a positive impact on student motivation and engagement in learning, but challenges related to teacher readiness and supporting facilities exist. This study is expected to provide recommendations for improving the effectiveness of PBL implementation in primary schools

Abstract

Reading is a fundamental skill that students must master at the elementary education level. However, many early-grade elementary school students face various difficulties in learning to read, such as challenges in recognizing letters, pronouncing words, and understanding texts. This study aims to explore the strategies employed by teachers to overcome reading difficulties in early-grade students. The research utilizes a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that teachers employ various strategies, such as phonetic approaches, game-based learning, the use of visual media, and providing positive feedback to enhance students' reading abilities. Additionally, collaboration among teachers, parents, and schools proves effective in creating a conducive learning environment. This study offers practical implications for the development of innovative and inclusive reading instruction strategies to support student success at the elementary level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of technology-based interactive learning media in improving students' understanding of science concepts. Technology-based learning media, such as virtual simulations and interactive applications, are designed to support more engaging and participatory learning. The research method employed is an experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of junior high school students divided into two groups: an experimental group using interactive learning media and a control group using conventional methods. The results showed that the use of technology-based interactive learning media significantly improved students' understanding of science concepts compared to conventional teaching methods. These findings suggest that integrating technology into science education can be an effective strategy to address students' difficulties in understanding abstract concepts. This research is expected to contribute to the development of innovative learning media relevant to the needs of modern education.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of the holistic-integrative approach in the education of prospective Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers. The holistic-integrative approach is considered a comprehensive strategy that combines various aspects of child development—including physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual domains—while also promoting collaboration between schools, families, and social services. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis in several ECE teacher education programs. Findings indicate that although prospective teachers have begun to understand the concept, its application remains largely theoretical and has not been fully integrated into the curriculum or learning practices. Key challenges include limited cross-sector involvement, weak curriculum integration, and insufficient practical field experiences. Therefore, curriculum reformulation, lecturer capacity-building, and strategic partnerships with ECE institutions implementing the holistic approach are necessary. A teacher education model based on this approach is believed to foster competent and responsive educators capable of supporting children’s development in a comprehensive and inclusive manner.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an innovative learning model that can be implemented in the education of elementary school teacher candidates. Using a research and development (R&D) approach, this study designs a learning model that integrates problem-based learning, project-based learning, and the use of digital technology to enhance student engagement and pedagogical competence among teacher candidates. The research stages include needs analysis, model design, and classroom implementation. The results show that teacher candidates were able to adopt and implement the learning model effectively, improving their skills in designing and delivering more creative and interactive lessons. However, challenges related to limited facilities and varying levels of technological proficiency remain as barriers. The study suggests the need for further training and mentoring for teacher candidates to maximize the use of this innovative learning model. The developed model is expected to serve as a reference for enhancing the quality of teacher education and enriching the learning experience of elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies for developing social-emotional competencies among Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers and their impact on teaching quality and classroom management. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis. The findings show that social-emotional training attended by ECE teachers significantly enhanced their ability to manage emotions, communicate effectively, and create a classroom climate that supports children's social-emotional development. However, challenges such as limited time and crowded classrooms posed barriers to the consistent application of the skills learned. This study suggests the need for ongoing evaluation and a strong school culture to optimize the development of teachers' social-emotional competencies. In conclusion, the development of social-emotional competencies for ECE teachers has been shown to improve teaching quality, teacher-child relationships, and create a more inclusive learning environment that supports overall child development.
