Abstract

Bhineka Tunggal Ika is a slogan that unites the Indonesian people who live in cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity. However, in the current era of globalization, these values ​​have begun to be disturbed by social divisions, dissatisfaction with differences, and identity issues. This study aims to analyze the significance of the revitalization of the Bhineka Tunggal Ika value within the framework of a multicultural society using a literature study approach. The results of the analysis indicate that the low level of internalization of the values ​​of tolerance and respect for differences can be a serious problem in maintaining national unity. Civic education is a learning process that aims to provide individuals with an understanding of the rights, obligations, and responsibilities as citizens in a country. has an important function in building the character of inclusive, tolerant, and democratic citizens.

Abstract

Rapid social changes driven by globalization and technological advancements have significantly influenced how adolescents think, behave, and interact in their daily lives. Amid these challenges, Civic Education (PKn) plays a strategic role in shaping adolescents' social ethics to uphold moral and humanitarian values. This study aims to examine the role of Civic Education in developing adolescents’ social ethics in the modern era, as well as to explore relevant challenges and learning strategies. The research method used is a literature review by analyzing various scholarly journals, academic books, and relevant research reports. The findings indicate that Civic Education can serve as an effective medium for instilling social values such as empathy, responsibility, tolerance, and justice, particularly through interactive and contextual learning approaches. However, its effectiveness is greatly influenced by external challenges such as the impact of social media, individualistic cultural trends, and a lack of role models in the surrounding environment. Therefore, innovative teaching methods, integration of digital technology, and collaboration between schools, families, and communities are needed to strengthen the role of Civic Education as a foundation for character education among adolescents.

Abstract

Building national charater though education integrting pancasila values in civics lessons to improve students’character. This study reveals that the integration of pancasila can improve students’character,such as attitudes of nationalism,tolerance,and mutual cooperation. Thus ,this study provides an important contribution in indonesia and pffers an effctive stategy to improve the quality of education. This study aims to determine how to integrate pancasila values in civics lessons. The results pf the study indicate that the integration of pancasila values in civics lessons can impove students’character,such as attitudes,nationalism,tolerance,and mutual cooperation.

Abstract

Village democracy is a tangible form of governance at the grassroots level that embodies direct community involvement in decision-making. In the Indonesian context, village democracy is shaped not only by formal regulations, but also influenced by local values that exist in the community. This article seeks to explore the value bases that underpin village democracy by reviewing the literature on principles of participation and local knowledge. The research employs a descriptive qualitative strategy using a literature review method based on a wide array of scholarly literature and government policies. The findings show that village democracy is based on the principles of citizen engagement, collective deliberation, collaborative efforts, and respect for local knowledge. These values serve as the foundation for building inclusive, accountable, and sustainable village governance. Thus, village democracy not only functions as a political mechanism, but also as a tool to maintain the cultural values inherent in the community.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of legal awareness among university students regarding the regulations in the campus environment. Legal awareness is an important aspect in shaping the character of law-abiding and responsible citizens, particularly among students as agents of change. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collection conducted through questionnaires distributed to 100 students from various faculties. The results show that the level of legal awareness among students falls into the moderate category, with most students being aware of the existence of campus regulations, but not fully understanding their content and associated sanctions. Factors influencing legal awareness include the dissemination of regulations, enforcement of discipline by the campus authorities, and the role of lecturers in Citizenship Education (PPKn) learning. These findings highlight the importance of continuous legal education in higher education institutions to foster a strong legal culture.

Abstract

Civic Education (PKn) plays a crucial role in shaping the nation's character, especially in facing the challenges and opportunities presented by the digital era. PKn aims to equip students with an understanding of their rights and duties as citizens, as well as instill national values based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. In the digital era, technological advancements provide easier access to information but also pose a challenge in preserving national values often eroded by the global information flow. Therefore, civic education must be adjusted to technological developments, accompanied by the enhancement of critical thinking and empathy skills. Technology-based learning strategies, such as the use of digital media and social platforms, can make the learning process more engaging and relevant to the younger generation. This study aims to examine the role of PKn in building the nation's character in the digital age and strategies that can be implemented to optimize PKn learning.

Abstract

Social change driven by globalization, digitization, and technological advancements has triggered an increasingly complex and dynamic process of seeking and shaping national identity. National identity which encompasses a nation’s values, culture, and history is no longer static; rather, it is the result of negotiation between local traditions and the homogenizing currents of global culture. Digital transformation has created new spaces for identity expression, but it also brings risks of eroding patriotic values due to weak internalization of values and the dominance of foreign culture. The phenomenon of identity hybridization emerges when individuals and groups blend their cultural roots with modern adaptations through social media and digital technology. On the other hand, the crisis of national identity has become increasingly apparent, especially among the younger generation who are vulnerable to foreign cultural influences and unverified information. In this context, Pancasila plays a crucial role as a cultural filter and ideological foundation, while character education and civic education instilling Pancasila values and the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika serve as key instruments for safeguarding national integrity. Strengthening national identity in this era of social change requires synergy among the state, educational institutions, mass media, and youth. Through the development of character education based on Pancasila, the preservation of local culture, and the wise utilization of digital technology, society is expected to continually uphold the nation’s identity. Further research focusing on identity transformation mechanisms and the development of a comprehensive theoretical framework is needed to deepen understanding of national identity dynamics in the globalization era.

Abstract

Democracy is a system of government that places the people as the holders of the highest power, both directly and through representation. In the context of Indonesia as a democratic country, community involvement in local political processes is an important indicator for assessing the quality of democracy, especially at the community level. However, the level of political participation among village communities is often still influenced by various factors such as education, access to information, local culture, and the level of trust in government institutions. This research aims to describe, analyze, and conduct an in-depth study of the involvement of the Hilimbowo Olora village community in democracy within local political processes. The results indicate that the majority of respondents have a basic understanding of the concept of democracy, yet their application of democratic values in daily life remains limited. The perception of villagers towards democracy is a representation of how village residents understand, assess, and respond to the concepts and practices of democracy, both normatively and in its implementation at the local level. Therefore, the perception of village communities towards democracy and involvement in local political processes is complex and multidimensional. Democracy is not just about elections; it also concerns active participation, social responsibility, as well as transparency and accountability in governance.

Abstract

Citizenship education plays a crucial role in shaping social awareness and participation within communities. This article discusses efforts to empower communities through citizenship education as a strategy to enhance social participation in community life. This empowerment includes providing knowledge, skills, and understanding of the rights and responsibilities of responsible citizens. Through citizenship education, communities are expected to actively participate in decision-making processes, social activities, and maintaining social harmony. Moreover, increased social participation also contributes to sustainable development and the strengthening of democracy at both local and national levels. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach in several communities. The findings indicate that community empowerment through citizenship education can enhance social awareness, solidarity, and community engagement in social activities. Thus, citizenship education functions not only as a means of formal learning but also as an effective empowerment tool for creating participatory and resilient communities.

Abstract

In a democratic system, every individual has the right to voice their opinions and ideas, which become the foundation for the formation of public policies that are fair and in favor of the common interest. However, this right is also accompanied by the obligation to actively participate in democratic processes, whether in elections, public discussion forums, or in running the government. Democracy is not only about freedom of speech, but also about active contribution in determining the direction of the nation. This article examines the relationship between individual and collective rights and obligations in realizing quality democracy, as well as the challenges faced by society in implementing both. This discussion aims to strengthen the understanding that democracy is achieved when every citizen not only knows his or her true rights, but also carries out his or her obligation to participate in the political process constructively.
