Abstract

Pancasila is the ideological foundation of the Indonesian state and is expected to guide people’s behavior in social and population life. However, in recent years, there has been a noticeable decline in the understanding and practice of Pancasila values within society. This condition can be seen in the growing sense of individualism, the weakening of mutual cooperation, decreasing social concern, and reduced tolerance among community members. This study aims to examine the extent to which Pancasila values are understood and applied in population-related daily life in Medan Tembung District, as well as to identify the factors contributing to the fading of these values. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method with a field study approach. Data were collected through direct observation of the community environment, in-depth interviews with local residents from various age groups and occupational backgrounds, and supporting documentation. This approach was chosen to obtain a more realistic and comprehensive understanding of social conditions as they occur in everyday community life. The results of the study indicate that most residents are still familiar with Pancasila as the state ideology; however, their understanding tends to remain general and theoretical. In everyday practice, Pancasila values have not been consistently implemented. This is reflected in declining attitudes of mutual respect, low participation in community social activities, and a lack of concern for population-related issues within the neighborhood. Several factors contribute to this condition, including the influence of modernization, excessive use of technology, limited character education, and the decreasing role of families and community leaders in instilling Pancasila values. This study is expected to raise public awareness of the importance of reapplying Pancasila values in population life.

Abstract

Pancasila, as the nation's identity, Pancasila holds important values as the national character and distinctive feature of the country. It stands out among other forms of identity as the nation's highest ideological value. Pancasila is unique compared to other identities, not merely a physical symbol but a psychological identity that reflects the character of Indonesia. This uniqueness, which is a characteristic of the nation, is often influenced by foreign cultures and globalization, often resulting in deviations. Therefore, efforts are being made to preserve the values of Pancasila so that they are not eroded by external cultural influences. A more in-depth analysis is needed to examine the influence of foreign cultures, and conceptual analysis methods are used as a guide to study this phenomenon. It is clear that in today's digital age, where everything is presented instantly, foreign cultures easily infiltrate the structure of social life, causing the erosion of idealistic values. Here are some ways to protect the values of Pancasila from foreign cultural erosion: (1) foster a strong spirit of nationalism, for example by encouraging love for domestic products and culture; (2) fostering love for the homeland; (3) instilling and practicing the values of Pancasila responsibly; (4) instilling and practicing religious values correctly; (5) being selective towards foreign cultural influences entering Indonesia; (6) strengthening and maintaining national identity so that it does not fade; and (7) strengthening Pancasila.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of investor and director liability within Indonesia’s investment system based on Article 15 letter a of Law Number 25 of 2007 on Investment and Article 97 of Law Number 40 of 2007 on Limited Liability Companies. Problems arise when both regulations emphasize the principle of Good Corporate Governance (GCG), yet differ in their objects and subjects of regulation, potentially creating overlapping responsibilities in investment practices, particularly when losses or legal violations occur. This research employs a normative juridical method with statutory and conceptual approaches. The findings show that Article 15 letter a of the Investment Law serves as a normative obligation for investors to implement GCG, whereas Article 97 of the Company Law affirms the legal responsibility of directors in managing the company. These two provisions have a complementary relationship in establishing an accountable investment system; however, in practice, gaps in law enforcement still exist, especially concerning the implementation of fiduciary duties, the principle of prudence, and the application of the piercing the corporate veil doctrine in cases of negligence or abuse of authority. This study concludes that integrating both provisions is necessary to strengthen legal protection, increase certainty for investors, and clarify the boundaries of liability between investors and directors in creating a transparent and sustainable investment climate.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the comparative effectiveness of consumer protection regulations between Indonesia and Japan in response to rapid technological developments and online transactions. The method used is normative legal research with a statutory and comparative approach using secondary data. The results show that Indonesia has an advantage in the aspect of legal substance because it has a single general consumer protection law formulated based on comprehensive academic papers. Conversely, Japan implements a fragmented regulatory system without a single general umbrella law but excels in legal enforcement structures and legal culture through periodic public awareness surveys conducted by the government. The factors most influencing legal effectiveness in both countries include legal substance, enforcement structures, public legal culture, and external factors such as technological advancement. In conclusion, Indonesia is more effective in norm formulation, while Japan excels in addressing social realities and institutional strengthening.

Abstract

Indonesia's foreign policy towards the Gaza conflict under President Prabowo Subianto has sparked intense public debate regarding the nation's moral positioning in international relations. While Indonesia consistently voices support for Palestinian independence through diplomatic channels and humanitarian aid, its participation in multilateral "peace" forums initiated by the United States and its allies is perceived by some observers as a pragmatic compromise that potentially undermines principled solidarity. This article critically evaluates these policies through an integrated analytical framework comprising three perspectives: (1) Islamic political ethics, (2) contemporary scholarly ijtihad, and (3) international political analysis. Employing a qualitative method with Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), this study examines official government statements (2023-2024), ulama fatwas from major Indonesian Islamic organizations (MUI, NU, Muhammadiyah), and literature on Islamic political ethics. The findings reveal a fundamental tension between the principle of Muslim solidarity (ukhuwah islamiyah) and the demands of realpolitik in contemporary diplomacy. While Islamic ethics emphasize justice ('adl), public interest (maslahah), and trustworthiness (amanah) as normative parameters, political analysis highlights the structural dilemma between moral idealism and national strategic interests. Specifically, this study identifies three key issues: (1) the ambiguity between rhetorical support and concrete diplomatic action, (2) the divergence between Islamic organizational positions and government policy, and (3) the risk of credibility erosion in Indonesia's soft power as a Muslim-majority mediator. This study concludes that Indonesia's foreign policy requires strategic recalibration to maintain moral credibility without sacrificing diplomatic efficacy, suggesting a need for greater transparency, public accountability, and explicit alignment with ethical principles. The research contributes to the growing discourse on Islamic ethics in international relations and offers a normative evaluation framework for assessing foreign policy in Muslim-majority democracies.
