Abstract

Graduates of the Vocational Education in Mechanical Engineering (PVTM) program at Ivet University have predominantly pursued careers in relevant fields of expertise. A total of 87% of alumni work as educators. According to the graduate profile, PVTM alumni are also projected to become industry instructors and entrepreneurs. However, a key issue arises regarding the implementation of the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) curriculum in PVTM, which remains focused on less adaptable skills, leading to concerns about graduates' competencies in the industry. By integrating the concept of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) with the Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (SKKNI) in the technical schema, graduate competencies are expected to be strengthened and better recognized in the industry. This study aims to design an OBE-integrated curriculum aligned with SKKNI to support the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) initiative in the Vocational Education in Mechanical Engineering program at Ivet University. The research employed the Borg and Gall research and development methodology, culminating in a hypothetical model represented by a draft curriculum ready for trial implementation. The findings resulted in an OBE-integrated curriculum draft aligned with SKKNI, targeting the Level IV Welding Inspector occupational schema, comprising: (1) Eighteen study topics forming eight core courses within the program; (2) A curriculum integrated with three key concepts: OBE, SKKNI, and Welding Inspector; (3) Study topics applicable to Merdeka Belajar activities such as independent studies, student exchange programs, and projects; (A survey of 10 expert respondents, where 83% strongly agreed, 12% agreed, and 5% were neutral regarding the draft curriculum's feasibility. Thus, it can be concluded that the developed curriculum draft is suitable for trial implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the IDA integrated DL learning model assisted by Nearpod application CET media on the material of the mole concept in increasing interest and learning outcomes of the mole concept. This research is an R and D (Research and Development) research. The design used is ADDIE including (1) analysis (needs analysis, infrastructure analysis, determining scope, determining boundaries and sources); (2) design (determining innovative ideas, making the syntax of the IDA-integrated DL learning model assisted by Nearpod CET media, making learning devices (Teaching Modules, LKPD and evaluation instruments, making Nearpod CET media prototypes on mole concept material); (3) development (validation of the syntax of the IDA-integrated DL learning model assisted by Nearpod application CET media, small-scale trials); (4) implementation (large-scale trials, tests) and (5) evaluation. Data collection techniques are learning outcomes test, observation, interview, and Likert scale of interest. Data analysis techniques are instrument validation, interest data analysis and learning outcomes. The data obtained are the results of validation of media experts and material experts, responses of students and teachers on small-scale trials, pretest and posttest results of students on large-scale trials. The results showed the effectiveness of the IDA-integrated DL learning model assisted by Nearpod CET on the mole concept material in the experimental class for learning outcomes N-gain value of 0.8148 has a high category. For learning interest, the N-gain value of 0.7725 has a high category.

Abstract

Chemistry is one of the subjects that is abstract and emphasizes concepts. This is often the cause of low levels of student understanding (misconceptions). Not only because of inappropriate learning methods or models, but less in-depth question instruments also increase students' misconceptions. This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the level of conceptual understanding of grade X students on the Periodic System of Elements (SPU) material which is basic material before other complex chemical materials. Misconception analysis was carried out using Rasch analysis from the results of the Three-Tier Multiple Choice Test (TTMCT) instrument. The method used is a quantitative method and expert validation was carried out by eight experts. The study was conducted in 5 schools (public-private). The results of the study showed that students' conceptual understanding was low and several misconceptions were found.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Ethno-SDGs-based learning media integrated with Virtual Reality (VR) technology on the colloid material to improve students' chemical literacy. This media integrates the local wisdom of Palu, such as Kaledo, Kapurung, Palumara, and Utadada, with the chemical concept of colloids. The background of this research is the low chemical literacy of students due to the lack of connection between learning and local contexts and technological innovations. The focus of this research is the development of contextually relevant and technology-based learning media. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Data were collected through expert validation of media and content, peer reviews, small-scale trial questionnaires, and pretest and posttest assessments. Expert validation indicated the media's feasibility, with scores of 80% for content aspects and 79% for media aspects, both within the acceptable range. Peer reviews resulted in an approval score of 82% for both content and media aspects. The student responses from the small-scale trial showed a satisfaction rate of 92%, categorized as very feasible. Students also indicated that the media was engaging and helped increase their motivation to learn. The N-Gain test results showed an improvement in chemical literacy skills after using this media. The research concludes that the Ethno-SDGs-based learning media integrated with VR is effective in enhancing students' chemical literacy.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are essential for addressing 21st-century challenges. In the field of education, learning systems are designed to enhance students' abilities to analyze information, evaluate arguments, and make well-reasoned decisions based on rational and logical thinking. This study aims to examine the differences in the application of Paul-Elder-based student worksheets (LKPD) in improving students' critical thinking skills. This research employed an experimental method, using a control group that received Problem-Based Learning (PBL) worksheets and an experimental group that received Paul-Elder-based worksheets as a special treatment. Critical thinking skills data were collected through pre-tests, post-tests, and student worksheets (LKPD). The results showed that the experimental group experienced a more significant improvement in critical thinking skills compared to the control group. The improvement pattern in the experimental group was more systematic, particularly in problem identification, information gathering, and concept comprehension. However, a decline was observed in the conclusion-drawing stage, indicating that students still struggled to formulate accurate conclusions. Meanwhile, in the control group, critical thinking skills developed but followed a less consistent pattern.
