Abstract

The research was aimed to study the physical, chemical, and sensory characteristics of  cake from composite flour of rice, cassava, potato starch, and soybean with the addition of hydrocolloid. This study used a completely randomized design with two factors, i.e : the proportion of rice flour: cassava flour : potato starch : soybean : xanthan gum in composite flour (T) : (30% : 50% : 15% : 4,5% : 0,5% ; 30% : 45% : 15% : 9,5% : 0,5% ; 30% : 40% : 15% : 14,5% : 0,5% and 100% wheat flour as control) and some type of egg replacer (G) : soy isolate protein, soy isolate protein : corn starch : guar gum and egg flour as control (36,4 g ; 24 g : 10,4 g : 2 g ; 36,4 g). The parameters analyzed were volume, browning index, texture, moisture content, ash content, protein content, fat content, carbohydrate content, crude fiber content, hedonic value of colour, aroma, flavor, and texture. The results showed that the ratio of rice flour, cassava flour, potato starch, soybean and xanthan gum  had highly significant effect on volume, texture, moisture content, ash content, protein content, fat content, carbohydrate content, crude fiber content, hedonic value of colour, aroma, flavor, and texture. Type of egg replacer gave highly significant effect of the volume, browning index, protein content, fat content and carbohydrate content but had no significant effect on texture, moisture content, ash content, crude fiber content, hedonic value of colour, aroma, flavour and texture. Interaction of the two factors had highly significant effect on volume, browning index, fat content, and carbohydrate content. Proportion of rice, cassava, potato starch, soybean and xanthan gum  (30% : 45% : 15% : 9,5% : 0,5) and soy isolate protein : corn starch : guar gum produced cake with the best quality. Abstract

Papaya and starfruit production in Indonesia is very abundant, but their processing is still very minimal, therefore the diversification of their processing is needed to increase. This study was conducted to determine the effect of ratio of papaya and starfruit pulp with carrageenan concentration on the quality of jam sheet. This study used a completely randomized design with two factors namely ratio of papaya and starfruit pulp (B): 80%:20%, 60%:40%, 40%:60%, and 20%:80%, and carrageenan concentration (K): 2,5%, 3,5%, 4,5% and 5,5%. The parameters analyzed were moisture content, total acid, vitamin C, total dissolved solids, color and texture scores as well as organoleptic values of color, aroma, taste and texture. The results showed that the ratio of papaya and starfruit pulp had highly significant effect on water content, total acid, vitamin C, total dissolved solids, texture scores as well as organoleptic value of taste and texture. Carrageenan concentration had highly significant effect on water content, total dissolved solids, vitamin C, color scores, texture scores as well as organoleptic of color, taste and texture. Interaction of the two factors had highly significant effect on water content and test scores texture. The ratio of papaya and starfruit pulp of 80%:20% with concentration of 4,5% carrageenan gave the best quality characteristics of the sheet jam and still acceptable for consumption. Abstract

The research was aimed to  study of the chemical and functional characteristics of composite flour from kind of the modified cassava flour with several drying methods and wheat flour. The reseach had been performed using completely random design (CRD) with two factors i.e  the ratio of kind of modified cassava flour with four drying methods, i.e M1=sunlight, M2=solar dryers, M3=stove and M4=combination of solar dryers with stove, and the ratio of wheat flour and kind of modified cassava flour with several drying methods: i.e (T1= 90%:10% ; T2= 80%:20% ; T3= 70%:30% ; T4= 60%;40% ). Parameters analyzed were water content (%),  ash content (%), fat content (%), protein content (%), dietary fiber content (%), water and oil absorption (g/g), swelling power (g/g) and baking expansion (ml/g). The results showed that the kinds of modified cassava flour with several drying methods had highly significant effect on protein content, beaking expansion, and had significant effect on the swelling power.  Ratio of the flour showed highly significant effect on water content, fat content, protein content, dietary fiber content, water and oi labsorption, swelling power and baking expansion. Abstract

Sugarcane filter cake can be used in brick-making  to reduce the use of cement.The size, compressive strength and absorption was calculated. This research used non-factorial completely random used design with  filter cake level (A) consisted of three types i.e  (A1= 5%, A2= 15%, A3= 25%). The parameters was size, compressive strength and absorption. The result showed that sugarcane filter percentage had significant effect on size, compressive strength and absorption. The highest measure  was  at level 25% and the lowest was at  filter cake of 5%. The highest compressive strength value obtained at 5% level of filter cake and lowest value obtained at 25%  filter cake. The highest absorption filter cake was obtained at  25% and the lowest was  at 5% level.   Keywords: Brick, Filter Cake, Waste.

Abstract

Infiltration is one of very important element in the hydrological cycle as it relates to the intensity of rainfall that will affect the water storage in the soil and erosion. This study was aimed to determine the rate of infiltration in the fields of rubber, cassava, maize and cacao in subdistrict Pancur Batu using Philips equation model. The results showed that in the field of rubber with argillaceous sand texture the infiltration rate was fp = 0.460006 + 2,24274t-0,5 cm / min, in the cassava fields with sandy loam texture the infiltration rate was fp = 0.018388 + 2 , 40156t-0,5 cm / min, in maize field with sandy clay loam soil texture the infiltration rate was fp = 0.08988 + 1,95682t-0,5 cm / min, and cacao field with sandy clay loam texture the infiltration rate was fp = 0.05513 + 0,44371t -0,5cm / min. Abstract

Patterns of land management include the ability of the tratcor to cultivate the land using processing pattern to measure work capacity, efficiency and fuel consumption. The objective of this research was to know the capacity of Quick Boxer G1000 tractor on rice field at Kecamatan Pangkalan Susu. Parameters measured were capacity, fuel consumption, tractor efficiency and analysis of tractor usage. The result showed that treatment pattern affected significantly the capacity, fuel consumption, and tractor efficiency. Abstract

Briquette is one type of alternative fuel made ​​from various kinds of biomass. Biomass used in this study was the palm kernel shells and palm oil sludge. This research was aimed to make biobriquette charcoal from palm kernel shells and palm oil waste sludge as an alternative fuel and to test the quality of biobriquette charcoal. Testing was performed under non factorial completely randomized design. The parameters observed were calorific value, water content, density and ash content. The results of this study indicated that the composition of biobriquette charcoal affected the calorific value, water content, density and ash content. The average of calorific value was 3714.16 cal/g, the average of water content was 7.95 %, the average of density was 0.79 (g / cm3) the average ash content was 19.84 (%). Abstract

The role of food commoditis (particularly rice) since years ago in Indonesia, was so good, as rice is a basic foodstuffs for the majority of Indonesian. Food needs of rice in our country is never recedes, but increased from year to year, in accordance with population growth. The importance of this report was to forecast rice plant production by means of rice plant prediction with monte carlo method to predict the needs of Rice Milling  Unit in the future. The results showed that rice production in 2013 to 2017 was increased so that the availability of Rice Milling Unit in subdistrict of Padangsidimpuan Hutaimbaru was unable to meet grinding rate, therefore steamroller should be created. Abstract

Rawang Panca Arga District as the largest of centra rice production in Asahan Regency, must be studied its irrigation system of rice field to hold out and increase production. The purpose of this research was to study the rice production potential in Sungai Bunut irrigation fields in Rawang Panca Arga district Asahan regency in achieving the maximum level of rice production based on sun  radiation level, time to grow rice, and rice variety. This research also studied the ratio between irrigation field and crops field, the ratio between technical irrigation and pre technical and conventional irrigation and reliability of existing irrigation networks. In the year of 2009-2013, the results indicated that the irrigation network reliability was not good enough. The average ratio between technical irrigation and pre technical and conventional irrigation was 0,35, the average  ratio between irrigation field and crops field was 1,9 and the rice production target was 56,75%. keywords: rice, production target, production potential, irrigation network.

Abstract

Need bricks for building materials is increasing, causing a reduction of agricultural land. One of the alternative to face this problem is the use of concrete block with a main components of cement, sand, water and other ingredients are added such ash baggase ash to reduce the use of cement. The purpose of this research was to reduce  the use of partial cement with bagasse ash in brick making toward compresssive strength and water absorption. The parameter of this research was compressive strenght, water absorption, brick size and analysis of production costs. Based on this research, it obtained that the compressive strength  of A1 was 2.146 Mpa, A2 was 2.836, A3 was 5.167. For  water absorption obtained result for A1 was 9.77%, A2 was 9.78 %, A3 was 16.05%. Brick size in this research have the same length and width for each treatment, while hight brick for A1 was 16.7 cm, A2 was 17.6 cm, A3 was 15.6 cm. The analysis of the cost of decreased production costs, A1 was 14.47%, A2 was 23.48%, A3 was 32.48%. Keywords : bagasse ash, brick
