Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of heterogeneous disorders characterized by elevated levels of glucose in the blood. One complication that often occurs in people with diabetes mellitus is the occurrence of ulcers or sores on the feet. Diabetic foot injuries are an occurrence of infection, ulcer and/or deeper tissue damage associated with neurological and vascular disorders in the limbs of diabetics. This condition will lead to prolonged maintenance time, increased maintenance costs, increased disability rate, decreased quality of life and also increased the risk of death. Diabetic foot injuries can be prevented if detected risk levels from the beginning, but often do not get enough attention due to time constraints in carrying out the assessment. Currently developed a simple and simple screening tool so that handling can be done early to prevent further complications. The purpose of this study was to analyze the risk of diabetic foot wounds in patients with diabetes mellitus in Poliklink Diabetes Mellitus General Hospital Prof. Dr. W. Z. Yohannes Kupang. This research is a kind of quantitative research with descriptive study design. The sample of research in diabetes mellitus patients in Diabetes Mellitus Polyclinic General Hospital Prof. Dr. W.Z. Yohannes Kupang as many as 30 people selected by non-random with purposive sampling technique. The results showed that most people with diabetes mellitus have a lower risk of having a diabetic foot ulcer risk, but there is a risk of being even at high risk. Therefore, health education about foot care should still be given and improved so that the prevention of diabetic foot injuries become more optimal. In addition, the provision of information from nurses on the importance of foot screening every year for low-risk, while those at risk are recommended for screening every 6 months and who are at high risk are recommended for screening every 3 months.

Abstract

Introduction: Family’s involvement is getting bigger if one of its member needs continuous help due to their health problem. Family as the closest person has the important role in determining the success of TB’s treatment. This study aimed to know family’s autonomy in taking care of its member with TB. Methode: Qualitative method with ethnography approach was used. 15 participants. Data were collected by using an interview, FGD, field note, and observation. The result of interviewed has been analyzed with content analysis method. Result: the result showed 7 themes such as 1frame of reference, 2frame of experience, 3sources of support, 4kinds of support, 5stressor, 6coping mechanism, and 7stigma. The autonomy level of the family was in the lowest category. Conclusion: Family’s perception about TB described the lack of knowledge about the concept of TB, etiology, transmission, and prevention of TB in the family. The family supported their member but minimum sources belong to the family caused minimum support also. Having a member with TB and the length of TB’s treatment became a stressor to the family. The family used adaptive and maladaptive mechanism. Social label and stigma in the community made the patient and their family felt isolated and unconsciously causes the formation of isolating TB patient in the family.

Abstract

Background: Organophosphate insecticides had been used in Kupang City of East Nusa Tenggara Province far before Kupang City was established in 1996. Determination of susceptibility status toward organophosphate insecticides i.e. temephos and malathion in Kupang City have never been conducted. This research purpose is to know Ae. aegypti larva susceptibility status from several villages in Kupang City of East Nusa Tenggara Province toward organophosphate insecticides, particularly temephos and malathion with the biological and biochemical test. Research Method: This is pure experimental research with The Posttest-Only Control Group Design for biological test and non-experimental tests with descriptive and analytical designs for the biochemical test. Material and method of a biological test are referred to test regulation by WHO (1996), whereas biochemical test is referred to Lee’s method (1991). Result: a Biological test using diagnostic dosage reveals that Ae. aegypti larva from several villages being tested has resistant (RR) status toward temephos with an average larva mortality rate of <80% and susceptible (SS) status toward malathion with an average larva mortality rate of >99%. The result of qualitative and quantitative biochemical test shows that 3 villages have tolerant (SR) status with an average score of 2,0-2,5; 5 villages susceptible (SS) status with an average score of <2. The result of the quantitative biochemical test shows that 8 villages have susceptible (SS) status with AV value of <0,700, 5 villages have tolerant (SR) status with AV value of 0,700-0,900 and 2 villages have resistant (RR) status with AV value of >0,900. The statistic analysis with Oneway ANOVA significant 5% rejects the null hypothesis (H0) which means that there has been a status decrease of Ae. aegypti mosquito larva susceptibility to organophosphate insecticides. Conclusion: Temephos insecticide is not relevant anymore to be used, and it is still relevant to use malathion in the Ae. aegypti mosquito control program in several villages in Kupang City of East Nusa Tenggara Province. Research result proves that susceptibility status decrease of tested mosquito larva in a biochemical test is known to be not caused by increasing activity nonspecific of esterase and acetylcholinesterase insensitivity, but may be caused by other the factors that have not been known.

Abstract

Free radicals are known to mediate a variety of diseases. Some plants such as the chemical content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids have been reported to correlate to the activity of free radical scavenging. One of the plants that have the potential as a catcher of free radicals is moringa (Moringa oleifera, Lamk). This research is to test the antioxidant activity and how much the activity of antioxidants found in Moringa leaves infuse spectrophotometry with DPPH. Moringa leaves infuse made in various concentrations. Absorbance measurements carried out at a wavelength of 517.6 nm todetermine the% reduction of free radicals, followed by calculating the IC50 value. The results showed that infuse the leaves of Moringa (Moringa oleifera, Lamk) has a very weak antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 2151.33 ppm.

Abstract

Red Ginger (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum) is one of the most common plant species in the world. Empirically, red ginger is used as a treatment for colds, fever, and pain as well as spices for various recipes of food and beverages. Red ginger contains volatile oil components, non-volatile oils, and starch substances. The volatile oil or volatile oil component gives a distinctive odor component of ginger while the non-volatile oil component or so-called Oleoresin is a complete picture of ginger as a flavor of spiciness. Oleoresin components of gingerol, shogaol, and resin have potential as antioxidants. Antioxidants needed the body to neutralize free radicals in order not to develop and become harmful to the body. This research was conducted to know and measure antioxidant activity of ethyl acetate fraction of red ginger riming ethanol extract (Zingiber officinale var Rubrum) with DPPH method (1,1dipheny-2 picrylhydrazyl) based on IC50 value. The red ginger rhizome was extracted by maceration with 70% ethanol solvent and fractionated using ethyl acetate solvent. The fractionated condensed extract was tested for its antioxidant activity against DPPH radical using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that ethyl acetate fraction of ethanol extract of red ginger rhizome Zingiber officinale var. Rubrum) with a concentration of 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 ppm of very powerful antioxidant with the IC50 value of 41,27 ppm.

Abstract

Background: Riskesdas 2013 data show that 43.2% of births are still at home. This situation leads to the risk of delay in obtaining services in case of obstetric and neonatal complications. According to WHO data, about 15-20% of pregnancies have a risk of complications that require adequate emergency care. Therefore, the readiness of healthcare facilities in Poskesdes or in the Midwife of Independent Practice (BPM) is needed. The culture of the Timorese Timor Tengah Selatan (TTS) is the mother is required to give birth at home round and get treatment for 40 days by a shaman or someone who is believed to have experience of caring for the mother of childbirth. Treatment of postpartum is usually a taboo of certain foods, roasted fire, and tatobi. The provision or restriction to be followed by the puerperal mother is not allowed to go out for 40 days except to the bathroom. The midwife's midwife competency is midwives providing high-quality and comprehensive care to families, groups, and communities in accordance with the local culture. As midwives in the midwife community must be able to recognize the cultures that exist in the community and should be able to determine which culture is still applicable to mothers and cultures that are detrimental to mothers and infants, besides the midwife is required to play an active role in facing the culture so as to improve the welfare mother and infant matching goals 4 and 5 of MDG's. Objective: To identify the role of midwives in the community in dealing with TTS TTS district culture about the culture of roast and tatobi in the postpartum year 2016.Types of Research: Based on research purposes researchers used descriptive research type with a qualitative approach. Result: The mothers in Mollo Tengah village community still adhere to the grilled and tatobi tradition of the mothers in the village community of Central Mollo Panggang they do at home round. The process of roasting at home round is also trusted by the local community for the antidote to severe pain especially in women after the birth process. Another reason that the underlying baked fire or tatobi is the concern of parents when the child's body condition becomes weak and not strong even will cause madness in the mother of the maternity. But in reality, this will be bad, not only the possibility of mother and baby will burn his body and affect the healing of wounds after giving birth. In addition, due to the environment of the house that is less clean because of all the activities for the care done in the house, such as cooking and roasting so that mothers and babies at risk of ARI. Some of the activities performed by the midwife at the Central Mollo district health center are refreshing cadres, including asking the help of health cadres and shamans to disseminate information about the loss of abstinence, safe bake by paying attention to the distance of embers with maternal beds, and tatobi only by using water just warm up. In addition, health cadres are also invited to do data mapping of target KIA (pregnant women, postpartum, babies, and toddlers) in the community and the provision of PMT. Discuss tubulin and also discuss the waiting house so that the waiting house can be functioned properly.
