Abstract

Traffic analysis is important through better management. By analyzing traffic, urban planning can reduce congestion. Population increase in Samarinda increases traffic and causes congestion. Congestion conditions in Samarinda are getting worse because vehicles continues to increase without road improvements, especially on Jalan Pangeran Antasari. The aim of this research is to evaluate the performance of road sections using the PKJI method, providing a visual of the condition using PTV Vissim software. The survey was carried out for 3 days on Monday 26 February 2024, Friday and Saturday 1-2 March 2024 with a time span of 15 minutes with a duration of 1 hour. Held in the morning at (07:00-08:00 WITA), in the afternoon at (12:00-13:00 WITA), in the evening at (17:00-18:00 WITA). Jalan Pangeran Antasari provides a capacity of 6072 pcu/hour. The highest vehicle volume occurred on Saturday with 2418 pcu/hour, indicating that the road section is in type A with free flow conditions without obstacles, the 10-year forecasting traffic volume is 3579 pcu/hour. Based on the Samarinda City Masterplan, vehicles is estimated to grow 4% in 10 years. If the road capacity in the current year (2024) is still used to serve the vehicles that will pass in the next 10 years then the service level shows type B. Even though the level of service has decreased, the existing infrastructure is still adequate. This reduction is not yet critical so that current road and traffic facilities can still handle so there is no need for additional recommendations.

Abstract

This study focuses on developing an Internet of Things (IoT)-based security system for swiftlet nests using ESP32-CAM and Passive Infrared (PIR) Sensors. The goal is to address the challenges of securing swiftlet nests located in remote areas, which are prone to theft and hard to monitor manually. The system combines motion detection, image capturing, and notification delivery through Telegram when connected to the internet. If the internet connection is unavailable, captured images are stored on a microSD card as an alternative. The research methodology includes the design of both hardware and software, implementation, and system performance testing. Test results show that the PIR sensor effectively detects motion within a 1-5 meter range, and the ESP32-CAM can capture and send images to Telegram in under 10 seconds when the network is stable. The system also reliably stores images on the microSD card when offline. This research highlights the system's ability to improve the security of swiftlet nests efficiently, offering a practical solution for farmers to monitor their nests in real-time without being physically present. The system’s flexibility and reliability make it a valuable tool for enhancing the security of agricultural resources.

Abstract

The concept of 'quality' is becoming increasingly recognized across industrial sectors, as evidenced by the emergence of methodologies such as TQM, Kaizen, and Quality Circles. The 5R (Reduced, Refined, Radiant, Retain, Reliable) program, which includes Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain, has become an essential component in enhancing efficiency and quality management within a company. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the 5R program implementation on the achievement of Total Quality Management (TQM). The method of this study is a descriptive approach using a case study design and mixed methods, integrating both qualitative (field observations and interviews) and quantitative data (audit scores and monthly performance metrics). This combination enables a comprehensive evaluation of the 5R program. Data were collected through field observations, in-depth interviews, analysis of audit results, and monthly performance scores from ten work areas. Manufacturing company PT ADP, as a case study, was employed to examine the benefits of the 5R implementation in relation to TQM standards. The findings contribute to practical knowledge by demonstrating that structured implementation of 5R can significantly support Total Quality Management (TQM) in manufacturing settings, particularly in enhancing productivity, discipline, and operational efficiency. The results indicate that the 5R program can support the foundation of TQM by ensuring higher work efficiency, reduced waste, and a more disciplined and responsible work ethic. The 5R culture is essential in supporting the implementation of TQM to improve quality and innovation for sustainable growth, competitiveness, adaptability, and customer satisfaction

Abstract

PT. Papertech Indonesia Unit II is a recycled paper factory that orders raw materials Old Corrugated Container (OCC) and Mix Waste (MW) is carried out every day, as a result the raw material storage warehouse often experiences excess capacity, so that its arrangement is often irregular. In order to optimize the utilization of the storage warehouse at PT. Papertech Indonesia Unit II Magelang, it is necessary to carry out a design model for the layout of the facility. One of the objectives of designing the layout of the facility is more effective use of space. The design in this study uses the method Dedicated Storage. The results of arranging paper raw materials in the warehouse using the method Dedicated Storage through addition material handling obtained a time effectiveness of 27%. Cost material handling The proposal obtained a 9% reduction in cost efficiency. Travel distance material handling on the proposed layout by 34%, with the warehouse storage capacity increasing by 10%. The proposed raw material storage warehouse layout is based on the method Dedicated Storage consists of 8 blocks, in one block consists of 6 areas, each area consists of 50 slots. The total number of slots that can be accommodated is 2,400 slots, resulting in a 25% increase in slot capacity. The floor area requirement for storing raw materials is 87.78 m x 62.24 m or 5,463 m2thus increasing the utilization of the warehouse area by 7%. The remaining unused warehouse area is 1,662 m2 with a percentage of remaining area of ​​23.32% and utilization of the remaining unused area of ​​20%.

Abstract

Siak I Bridge is located in Pekanbaru City and was constructed in 1975 and used in April 1977. The bridge has undergone a functional change; initially, Siak I Bridge served as a Class IIA collector road but was later reclassified as a Class I arterial road. This change resulted in performance degradation due to cracking in the piers/columns, which has been repaired using grouting methods and reinforced with steel jackets. Cracks were also observed on the deck slab, and grouting has been applied to these cracks as well. Therefore, an evaluation of the bridge’s serviceability and a structural strengthening study are necessary. The methods used in structural assessment/research include Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) testing, thickness test, rebar scanning, dynamic loading test and frequency testing. These tests aim to verify the bridge’s serviceability capacity. Based on the vibration frequency tests conducted on the bridge, there are three points where the actual vibration frequencies are lower than the theoretical natural frequencies. Meanwhile, thirteen other points show actual frequencies exceeding the natural frequencies. Hence, the structural health condition of Siak I Bridge comprises both healthy and unhealthy sections. Abstract

Urban mobility patterns are influenced by a complex interplay of factors, including land use, population density, and socioeconomic conditions. This study aims to examine the spatial determinants of urban mobility in Makassar City, Indonesia, to guide targeted transportation and urban planning policies, using Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR). GWR is employed to account for spatial heterogeneity, as it captures localized variations in relationships unlike global regression models. The analysis incorporates travel time, travel cost, land use, population, and poverty data. Results indicate that the relationships between these variables vary significantly across different parts of the city. Land use, particularly the mix of residential, commercial, and industrial areas, emerges as a critical factor influencing travel patterns. Population density and poverty levels also shape mobility behaviors. The findings highlight the need for spatially targeted transportation policies and urban planning strategies to address the diverse mobility needs of Makassar's residents

Abstract

Abstract – The operational road section of PT Mahakam Sumber Jaya is a supporting tool for coal production operational activities located in Separi, Kutai Kartanegara. This study plans the geometric design and thickness of the road pavement. It attempts to review the geometric planning referring to the Bina Marga standards and re-planning using Auto CAD Civil 3D software, which is commonly used in geometric road planning, while the thickness planning of the pavement usually employs component analysis methods; however, I am re-planning using the Manual Pavement Design Method of 2024. The geometric planning of the road includes horizontal and vertical alignments, while the pavement thickness planning includes the detailed planning of rigid pavement structures. From the geometric planning results with a road length of 4.539 km, a pavement width of 2 x 3.5 m, a total of 7 curves, and a thickness of 300 mm concrete with a concrete quality of Fs 4.5 MPa, layers Foundation thickness 150 mm, LPA class A 200 mm, and selected coarse granular embankment 200 mm

Abstract

Road infrastructure development often faces significant challenges due to low bearing capacity of the subgrade, especially when dealing with peat soil. This condition can lead to excessive settlement, deformation, and premature damage to the road pavement, resulting in high maintenance costs. Peat soil is inherently poor in quality, making it uneconomical to use as a subgrade for road pavements. The condition of peat soil significantly impacts road construction in Central Kalimantan Province. Therefore, one effective way to address this issue is through soil stabilization. This research aims to explore the potential of biochar and cement as stabilizing agents to improve the bearing capacity of peat soil. The study involves a series of laboratory tests, including initial physical property tests of the original peat soil, as well as index and mechanical strength tests after the addition of a combination of biochar and cement. The biochar used in this research is derived from coconut shells.The conducted tests include compaction tests to determine the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content, and CBR (California Bearing Ratio) tests to evaluate the soil's bearing capacity. The variations in biochar and cement addition were: 5% biochar with 5% cement, 5% biochar with 6% cement, 5% biochar with 7% cement, and 5% biochar with 8% cement. The research results indicate that the addition of biochar to peat soil stabilization mixtures using cement significantly increases the CBR value. Specifically, adding 8% cement and 5% biochar to peat soil was able to increase the CBR value by up to 9% from the original soil's CBR of 2.2%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the combination of biochar and cement can transform peat soil into a usable subgrade for road construction

Abstract

Penajam Paser Utara Regency in East Kalimantan Province faces a high risk of flooding due to inadequate drainage channel capacity, irregular bed slopes, and sedimentation that reduces channel cross-sections. Increased runoff caused by land-use changes has exacerbated flooding, particularly in densely populated residential areas. This study aims to prepare a comprehensive Survey, Investigation, and Design (SID) document for flood control as a basis for planning measurable drainage infrastructure development. The research methods include collecting rainfall data from the Waru Station, calculating design flood discharges using the Gumbel Type I, Log-Pearson Type III, Log-Normal, and Frechet distributions, conducting hydraulic analyses using the Strickler and Manning formulas, simulating channel profiles with the Hydrologic Engineering Center – River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) software, and performing topographic surveys to determine channel cross-sections and benchmark elevations. The results indicate that the highest design flood discharge occurs in Waru Village, reaching 4.751 cubic meters per second for a 25-year return period. The hydraulic simulations support the need for channel normalization, slope adjustments, dimensional standardization, construction of polders, flap gates, and the operation of water pumps. The study concludes that drainage development should be implemented in stages with community participation in maintenance and pump operation funding.
