Abstract

Monopolistic practices and wealth distribution inequalities contradict the principle of justice in Islamic economics. This study aims to analyze the development of the concept of distributive justice and anti-monopoly doctrine in Islamic economic thought, as well as their relevance to competition regulation in Indonesia. The study employs a qualitative method with a historical-comparative approach through a literature review of the works of classical scholars and contemporary Muslim economists. Data were analyzed using content analysis and comparative analysis with Law No. 5 of 1999 on the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition. The results show that the concept of distributive justice evolved from the normative foundations of the Qur’an and Sunnah into a comprehensive institutional framework. The Islamic anti-monopoly doctrine is built upon the prohibition of ihtikar, the hisbah mechanism, the concept of tas’ir, and the prohibition of market manipulation all grounded in the principles of ‘adl and the maqashid al-shari’ah. Although it has strong relevance to competition regulation in Indonesia, Law No. 5 of 1999 still requires strengthening of its ethical and moral dimensions, which are rooted in Islamic economic values. This study contributes to the development of a normative framework for Islamic economics as an alternative solution to monopolistic practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

The rapid growth of Islamic financial transactions in Indonesia has given rise to various new products and contracts that require a solid legal foundation in Islamic law that is scientifically sound. One of the principles of usul al-fiqh that is highly relevant but has not yet been studied in depth in the context of the modern Islamic economy is the principle of istishab. This study aims to analyze the position of the Istishab principle within the hierarchy of Islamic legal evidence, examine its application as the basis for determining the validity of contracts in contemporary Islamic financial transactions, and formulate its implications for Islamic financial regulations in Indonesia. This study employs a normative legal research method using usul al-fiqh, conceptual, and comparative approaches. Primary data sources include the Qur’an, Hadith, classical and contemporary usul al-fiqh texts, fatwas from the National Sharia Council of the Indonesian Ulema Council (DSN-MUI), and regulations from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). The results of the study indicate that the principle of Istishab, through the principles of al-yaqinu la yuzalu bi al-syakk and al-ashlu fi al-asya' al-ibahah, possesses legal force that can serve as a basis for determining the validity of Islamic financial contracts, particularly in situations of legal uncertainty arising from the emergence of new financial products. The application of istishab has been found to be relevant to financing contracts (murabahah and mudharabah), investment contracts (sukuk and Sharia-compliant mutual funds), and technology-based transactions within the Sharia fintech ecosystem.

Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and their reading comprehension in grade IX of SMP Negeri 1 Palasa. Mastering vocabulary is one of the important things that affects students' ability to understand the text they read, such as understanding the main idea, detailed information, and implied meaning in the reading. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The subjects of this research involved 69 students from grade IX at SMP Negeri 1 Palasa. Data were collected by administering tests to measure vocabulary mastery and tests to measure reading comprehension. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, the Pearson Product-Moment correlation test, and the Hypothesis test. The results showed that there was a positive and significant correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension, with a correlation value of (r = 0.597; p = 0.001). This is included in the moderate correlation category. These results indicate that students who are better at mastering vocabulary usually have higher reading comprehension abilities. This research shows that vocabulary mastery has a very important role in improving students' reading abilities. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to focus more on vocabulary development when teaching reading by using a variety of effective exercises and learning strategies. Furthermore, this research is expected to serve as a reference for future researchers examining other factors that influence students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

The low academic achievement of students in visual arts serves as the practical problem underlying this research. Specifically in folding, cutting, and pasting skills in terms of both conceptual understanding and practical ability. The study aimed to examine the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model supported by "sequence pattern board" media in visual arts lessons focusing on origami, and to determine whether this approach could improve the academic achievement of Grade II-C students. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology was employed, conducted over two cycles, with each cycle comprising two sessions. The research followed four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Analysis of the results demonstrated an improvement in student achievement: the average score rose from 85.44 (with an 82% mastery rate, classified as good) in Cycle I to 89.85 (with a 97% mastery rate, classified as "excellent") in Cycle II. Success was measured using cognitive evaluation indicators ranging from C1 (recalling) to C4 (analyzing) and project skill assessment indicators, which included folding precision, accuracy in cutting along patterns, and proper pasting technique. The study concludes that implementing the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, supported by sequence pattern board media, is effective in enhancing the academic achievement of Grade II C students at SD Negeri 1 Sokanegara in visual arts lessons on origami.

Abstract

This study analyzes how adaptive policy connects bureaucratic reform with digital-economic development in Lamongan Regency. It employs a qualitative single-case design and a transparent document-analysis protocol. Documents relevant to the 2021-2025 policy period were retrieved from official planning, regulatory, performance, public-service, and program repositories and selected according to institutional traceability, substantive relevance, temporal fit, and evidentiary content. Data were extracted into a matrix, coded deductively and inductively, triangulated across source types, and checked against contradictory evidence. Limited benchmarking with Banyuwangi and Sumedang was used to identify transferable service-integration practices. The findings show that bureaucratic reform in Lamongan is supported by digital service development, leadership and apparatus capacity building, and results-oriented performance management. In 2024, the regency recorded a bureaucratic reform score of 86.48, an accountability score of 83.18, a public satisfaction index of 88.02, and a public-service compliance score of 93.7. Digital-economic initiatives, including Pasar Online Lamongan and Mall Oleh-Oleh Lamongan, broadened the instruments for market access and enterprise assistance. However, the reviewed documents do not establish a direct causal relationship between these programs and long-term improvements in citizen welfare or business resilience. The study concludes that adaptive local governance requires process and data integration, inclusive multichannel access, cybersecurity, outcome-based evaluation, and institutional continuity beyond individual leadership.

Abstract

In order to influence consumer purchasing decisions, hotels are being forced by the increasingly competitive nature of the hospitality business to enhance their digital marketing strategies, especially through online promotions and user review management. The purpose of this study is to examine how hotel reservations at the UNP Hotel & Convention Center in Padang are affected by online advertising and customer evaluations, both independently and in combination. This study employed a quantitative method with a causal-associative design. 98 individuals were chosen for the sample using purposive sampling; information was gathered through a questionnaire and multiple linear regression was used for analysis. The findings demonstrate that room purchasing decisions are positively and significantly impacted by internet advertisements and customer reviews. Online advertising and customer reviews account for 85.9% of the variance in purchase decisions, whereas factors beyond the purview of this study account for 14.1%. Additionally, online promos had less of an impact than customer ratings, suggesting that these reviews are the main factor that customers take into account when choosing a hotel. Both factors have a substantial impact on purchasing decisions at the same time. The relative contributions of online promotions and customer reviews to decision-making are empirically supported by this study.

Abstract

The Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG) is one of the Indonesian government’s strategic policies aimed at improving the population’s nutritional status, supporting educational quality, and strengthening social welfare. Although various studies have examined the program’s impact from health, educational, and economic perspectives, research that integrates the implementation of the MBG within the Maqashid Syariah framework through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach remains relatively limited. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program from the perspective of Maqashid Syariah and its implications for public welfare. The study employs a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines. Literature was obtained through searches in the Google Scholar, Scopus, Crossref, and Garuda databases using predetermined keywords. After undergoing a process of identification, screening, feasibility assessment, and selection based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, 15 articles were identified and analyzed thematically. The research results indicate that the Free Nutritious Meals Program makes a positive contribution to improving nutritional status, educational quality, and community economic empowerment, while also supporting the achievement of the Maqashid al-Sharia objectives, particularly in the aspects of hifz al-nafs (protection of life), hifz al-‘aql (protection of the mind), and hifz al-mal (protection of property). However, the program’s implementation still faces various challenges, such as equitable distribution, the effectiveness of oversight, interagency coordination, and the sustainability of funding.

Abstract

This study examines the determinants of the Farmers’ Terms of Trade (NTP) in Java, emphasizing the role of food inflation as reflected in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of the agricultural sector, and rice prices as a strategic commodity. The study employs quarterly data from 2017–2024 obtained from the Central Statistics Agency and other official sources. The Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach is applied to analyze both short-run and long-run relationships. The stationarity test results indicate that all variables are stationary at the first difference. The ARDL(1,1,1,1) estimation produces an R² of 0.9916, with a significant Error Correction Term (ECT) of -0.9527, confirming the presence of cointegration and a strong adjustment mechanism toward long-run equilibrium. Empirically, CPI, GRDP, and rice prices have a positive and significant impact on NTP in the long run, while their short-run effects are not statistically significant. Diagnostic tests confirm that the model is free from classical assumption problems, stable, and consistent. Causality tests reveal the dominant role of rice prices in influencing other variables. Robustness checks using the VECM approach further validate these findings, offering important policy implications.

Abstract

This study investigates and analyzes the effect of internal auditor competence, professional skepticism, and the implementation of Risk-Based Internal Audit   (RBIA) on the internal audit quality. Also it examines and analyzes the role of the top management commitment as a moderating variable. Furthermore, the study applies quantitatively, with explanatory approach. The data were collected using a purposive sampling. In line with that, 117 cross sector internal auditors in Indonesia were chosen as samples, based on inclusion criteria given. Moreover, a closed-questionnaire and a Likert scale were used to support the data collection. Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with SPSS was used to examine direct effect among variables. It was also implemented to investigate effect significance of moderation interaction statistically. As a result, the study shows that internal auditor competence, professional skepticism, and the implementation of RBIA have a positive and significant effect on the internal audit quality. Additionally, the moderation testing indicates that the top management commitment strengthens the effect of internal auditor competence as well as the implementation of RBIA. Unfortunately, it does not moderate professional skepticism. Therefore, the increase of internal audit quality forces the optimization of auditor capability and the  empowerment  of management support  structurally, including  sustainable consistency of audit recommendation within the organization.
