Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of leg weight training methods on improving speed and accuracy of dollyo chagi kicks in TMC Taekwondo Mountain Child athletes. This research used a quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test control group design involving 20 taekwondo athletes divided into experimental group (n=10) and control group (n=10). The experimental group received leg weight training combined with conventional training for 8 weeks, while the control group only received conventional training. Speed was measured using photoelectric timing gates and accuracy using target scoring system. Data analysis used paired t-test and independent t-test with significance level α=0.05. Results showed significant improvement in experimental group for kick speed (12.3% improvement, p=0.003) and accuracy (15.7% improvement, p=0.002) compared to control group which only showed 2.5% and 4.2% improvement respectively. Comparison between groups showed significant differences (p<0.05) with experimental group being superior. Leg weight training method is effective for improving speed and accuracy of dollyo chagi kicks in TMC Mountain Child taekwondo athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the effectiveness of ice water immersion versus active recovery methods on recovery after 12-minute running exercise in sports coaching education students. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a sample of 30 students divided into two groups: ice water immersion group (n=15) and active recovery group (n=15). Recovery parameters measured included heart rate recovery, blood lactate levels, and perceived exertion scale. Data were analyzed using independent t-test and paired t-test with significance level p<0.05. The results showed that both recovery methods were effective in reducing heart rate and blood lactate levels post-exercise. However, the ice water immersion group showed significantly faster heart rate recovery (p=0.032) and lower lactate clearance time (p=0.028) compared to the active recovery group. The active recovery group showed better subjective recovery perception (p=0.041). This study concludes that ice water immersion is more effective for physiological recovery, while active recovery provides better psychological comfort in post-exercise recovery.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze relationship between mental imagery and speed of refereeing decision-making among badminton referees in Iraq, as it is one of the games that require a high level of mental concentration and the ability to respond quickly to changing situations. The researcher adopted the descriptive correlational approach for its suitability to the nature of the study, and a sample of (30) referees was selected representing different refereeing levels international, Asian, first, second, third). The study used a modified mathematical mental imagery scale, as well as a validated test based on real-life situations, to measure decision-making speed. Both instruments were examined by a panel of experts to ensure validity and reliability. The results showed a statistically significant positive correlation between mental imagery and decision-making speed. Significant differences also emerged between referees' levels, with international and Asian referees having higher levels in both variables compared to referees from local levels . The study recommends integrating mental skills as an essential part of referee preparation and development programs, and intensifying mental training alongside skill and cognitive training. It also suggests conducting similar studies in other sports, examining the impact of factors such as psychological stress or gender on decision-making speed. This study reflects the importance of mental imagery in refereeing performance and provides a scientific basis for developing sports refereeing in Iraq, especially in fast-paced games.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between abdominal flexibility and forward roll ability among sports coaching students at Universitas Pejuang Republik Indonesia. Floor  xercises, particularly the forward roll movement, require a combination of strength, flexibility, and coordination. The research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design, involving 21 students as the sample. Abdominal flexibility data is measured using the sit and reach test, while forward roll ability is assessed using a validated scoring rubric. The analysis results indicate a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.755 with a significance value of 0.012, demonstrating a significant positive relationship between abdominal flexibility and forward roll ability. These findings suggest that improving abdominal flexibility contributes to enhanced forward roll performance. The study recommends increasing abdominal flexibility training to support better mastery of forward roll techniques in floor exercises.

Abstract

This research investigates the effectiveness of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) on enhancing cardiorespiratory fitness among students in the Sports Coaching Department at the University of the Republic Fighters of Indonesia. An experimental design with a pretest- posttest control group was employed, involving 20 students divided into an experimental group undergoing HIIT and a control group performing conventional training. The Multistage Fitness Test was used to measure VO₂max as an indicator of cardiorespiratory fitness. The HIIT program lasted six weeks, with sessions conducted three times weekly. Data analysis utilized paired t-tests for pretest and posttest comparisons within groups and independent t-tests for between-group comparisons at a significance level of 0.05. Results revealed a significant increase in VO₂max for the experimental group from 42.61 to 48.73 ml/kg/min (p=0.001), compared to an increase from 43.05 to 44.89 ml/kg/min for the control group (p=0.047). The study concludes that HIIT is effective in improving cardiorespiratory fitness among students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of leg raise exercises on abdominal muscle strength in students of the Sports Coaching Education Study Program at the University of Republic Indonesia. The research method used is an experiment with a pre-test post-test control group design. The sample consisted of twenty students divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group underwent a leg raise training program for eight weeks, three times a week, while the control group received no special treatment. The instrument used to measure abdominal muscle strength was a sit-up test for sixty seconds. Data were analyzed using paired t-test and independent t-test with a significance level of zero point five. The results showed a significant increase in abdominal muscle strength in the experimental group after participating in the leg raise training program, with an average increase of twenty-nine point three percent. There was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Based on the results, it can be concluded that leg raise exercises positively affect the improvement of abdominal muscle strength in students of the Sports Coaching Education Study Program at the University of Republic Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of balance on agility in soccer among SSB Bajeng United Gowa players. The research method used is a quantitative method with a correlational approach. The population in this study includes all 20 players of SSB Bajeng United Gowa. The sampling technique used total sampling so that the entire population was used as samples. The research was conducted at ROMANG Rappoa field, Bajeng District, Gowa Regency in January 2025. The instrument used to measure balance was the Stork Stand Test, while agility was measured using the Illinois Agility Test. Data analysis used normality test, linearity test, and simple linear regression test. The results showed that there is a significant influence of balance on the agility of SSB Bajeng United Gowa soccer players with a correlation value of r = 0.735 and a coefficient of determination R² = 0.540, which means that balance contributes 54% to agility. Based on the results of this study, it is recommended for coaches to provide special training that can improve players' balance in order to enhance their agility in playing soccer.
