Abstract

Of the many Indonesian export commodities in the plantation sector, one of the leading ones is natural rubber. This is based on the increasingly high world demand for natural rubber. Rubber is known for its elastic properties and is a raw material used in many products and equipment around the world, ranging from industrial products to household products. As is well known, Indonesia is the country with the largest rubber plantation area in the world. However, in terms of productivity, Indonesia is still below Thailand and Malaysia. This shows the inefficiency of rubber processing in Indonesia so far. Taking case in Bintan Regency, Kepuauan Riau Province, one of the areas that has rubber plantations for export, the purpose of this research and journal writing is to find out the extent of the development of efforts made by the Badan Karantina Pertanian Tanjungpinang in increasing the export of rubber from Bintan.

Abstract

This journal conducts an in-depth analysis of the impact of ASEAN agreements on the development of the archipelagic maritime sector, with a focus on the perspective of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum High-Level Conference. As a concrete collaboration platform, the AIS Forum becomes the subject of research to understand the contribution of ASEAN agreements in addressing the challenges faced by archipelagic nations in maritime development. This research employs descriptive and qualitative analysis methods by exploring journals, official statements, official news, and outcomes of the AIS Forum High-Level Conference. The results of the analysis indicate that ASEAN agreements through the AIS Forum High-Level Conference have a significant positive impact on strengthening Indonesia's leadership in global maritime issues. Interarchipelagic cooperation, particularly through the exchange of knowledge, technology, and resources, has proven to be a crucial factor in addressing common challenges in the maritime sector. Furthermore, the journal illustrates that the AIS Forum High-Level Conference serves as a platform for the aspirations and hopes of archipelagic communities, with the interests of the people being the primary focus in maritime sector development. Concrete programs, such as mangrove restoration and addressing the impacts of climate change, implemented through the AIS Forum, not only support the blue economy but also enhance environmental awareness among communities. The empowerment of local communities through sustainable governance and the management of maritime resources becomes a key element in creating sustainable positive impacts at the local level.

Abstract

This research explains the influence of globalization on cultural heritage in the Riau Islands, namely Teater Bangsawan, as one of the tourism attractions in the Riau Islands. Globalization provides challenges through changing societal preferences and declining interest in traditional Malay culture, but also opens opportunities through the utilization of social media for international promotion of local artists. By combining aspects of globalization, cultural heritage preservation, and the impact of tourism, this research offers in-depth insights into how relations between nations can be shaped and strengthened through efforts to preserve and develop local cultural heritage, particularly in the context of noble theatre in the Riau Islands. This research examines the complex interactions between globalization, cultural heritage, and tourism, and their impact on relations between nations. In an era of intensified globalization, cultural heritage is becoming an important asset in the global tourism industry. However, it also poses challenges in maintaining the authenticity and sustainability of cultural heritage. This study aims to analyze how globalization affects the representation and interpretation of cultural heritage in the context of tourism, as well as its implications for cultural diplomacy and relations between nations. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with data obtained through literature studies obtained from various sources. The results show that globalization and tourism can be a catalyst for the revitalization of cultural heritage, but also have the potential to cause value conflicts and cultural commodification. The study concludes that a balance is needed between tourism development and cultural heritage preservation to ensure harmonious and sustainable relations between nations.

Abstract

Mining activities in the Moro sand of Riau Islands have caused many serious environmental problems, especially damage to marine ecosystems and landscape changes that have an impact on the socio-economic life of coastal communities. This problem is increasingly complex with the government's policy to reopen sea sand export licenses, basically there have also been previous regulations prohibiting the practice. This research aims to analyze the environmental impacts of sand mining and evaluate the countermeasures and regulations implemented by the government. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through document studies, literature, and analysis of related policies. The data obtained is processed through a process of editing, grouping, verification, and descriptive inference to provide an objective picture of the conditions in the field. The results show that sand mining activities in the Riau Islands have an impact on coastal erosion, damage to marine ecosystem habitats, and disruption to the local hydrological cycle. Countermeasures by the government have been carried out through regulations such as Presidential Decree Number 33 of 2002 and Government Regulation Number 26 of 2023. Challenges in regulation implementation and law enforcement remain high, especially related to illegal mining activities and lack of supervisory capacity. Synergy between the government, community, and private sector is needed with the aim of maintaining a balance between economic needs and environmental sustainability. Abstract

The rise of cyber fraud targeting Telegram users in Malaysia poses a major threat to the trust and financial security of the digital platform. Therefore, this study will focus on two main objectives, which are to identify the strategies used by scammers to target adult users of Telegram Malaysia and evaluate the effectiveness of public awareness efforts aimed at educating the public about scams among Telegram users. By using Uses and Gratification Theory, which states that individuals engage with media to fulfill social and psychological needs, this research explores why scammers exploit Telegram's large user base and secure messaging for financial gain. To ensure accurate and reliable findings, a quantitative methodology was employed, using a structured questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, gathering responses from 416 participants through the integration of purposive and convenience sampling, chosen for its efficiency in reaching a diverse respondent pool. The results show that users are aware of online scams and can identify their various patterns as well as prevalent tactics. Susceptibility can be caused by a variety of factors, including a lack of awareness, being easily deceived, and financial desperation. Hence, in order to prevent cybercrime and promote digital safety, it is crucial to put pre-emptive measures into place, collaborate with governments, and launch effective awareness programs. In conclusion, social media platforms serve as vital tools for disseminating scam-related information.

Abstract

Technology and innovation are pivotal in advancing the tourism sector and shaping tourist activities in Malaysia. In response to challenges such as social distancing and safety regulations following the COVID-19 pandemic, chain hotels are forced to find new ways to attract customers. Since digital tools greatly impact tourists' accommodation decisions, it's crucial for hotels to be adaptable in their digital marketing efforts. Hotels that do not leverage digital marketing are missing out on significant opportunities to grow their business and enhance their market presence. Tower Regency Hotel in Ipoh, Seri Malaysia and Syeun Hotel have seen a decrease in the number of guests checking in, which directly affects their business because they do not use digital marketing as much as other hotels that can survive over the long term, like Impiana Hotel Ipoh, MRoof Hotel, Weil Hotel and MH Hotel. Therefore, this study aims to identify the most effective digital marketing strategy to enhance hotel performance in Malaysia. Researcher use a systematic review method, taking into account potential articles published from January 2021 to May 2024 on encompassed renowned open-access journals and platforms, such as Wiley Online, Emerald, Google Scholar, Taylors and Francis Online, Elsevier and Springer Link, along with other relevant online articles retrieved via Google search. Variations in the terms used in this research include digital marketing strategies, service quality and hotel performance. Results indicate that the most impacted digital marketing strategies and services on hotel performance are user-friendly websites and apps, mobile check-in/check-out, digital keys and 24/7 customer service. Future research should improve studies on the benefits of digital marketing strategies on customer satisfaction and service quality

Abstract

This study employs a descriptive survey design to comprehensively assess consumer behaviours towards health products promoted on TikTok, targeting Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above. Despite the platform's increasing popularity for health product advertisements, scepticism persists regarding the efficacy of products endorsed by TikTok influencers. Findings reveal a positive response towards TikTok's influence on purchasing behaviour, with users acknowledging the need to verify health claims before making purchases. While there's a slight preference for health products endorsed by influencers, informed decision-making is emphasised. Positive feedback from TikTok users influences others' decisions to try health products, but concerns arise over potential misinformation dissemination and discrepancies between healthcare provider recommendations and patient preferences. Users prioritise influencer credibility and medical expertise, although not all actively seek health-related content. The study sheds light on TikTok's role in shaping consumer perceptions and behaviours, guided by the Transactionality Paradigm Theory. Future research could delve into long-term effects of TikTok endorsements, strategies to mitigate misinformation, and regulatory oversight to enhance consumer trust in health-related advertisements on social media platforms.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to study policy decisions adopted by countries in the West African region (ECOWAS) to mitigate the effects of COVID-19 on food supply. This article was carried out using an exploratory research method using qualitative data from bibliographic and documentary sources. Information was extracted from the Food and Agriculture Policy Decision Analysis(FAPDA), which describes policy decisions taken to mitigate effects on food security. After studying these data in relation to the Global Food Security Index (GFSI) indicators, it was found that political deliberations were focused on food access and availability. In terms of access to food, policies for transforming food into cash and policies for social protection measures standout. In terms of food availability, macroeconomic policies and policies to support food production stand out. The implications of COVID-19 increase the risk of food insecurity, especially in subSaharan African regions.
