Jurnal ini dirancang untuk menjadi katalis bagi pengembangan budaya riset di kalangan mahasiswa Hubungan Internasional UIN Alauddin Makassar pada khususnya dan mahasiswa Hubungan Internasional di Indonesia pada umumnya, sekaligus berkontribusi pada pengayaan wacana akademik hubungan internasional. ConGlobe diterbitkan tiga kali setahun pada bulan April, Agustus, dan Desember, memastikan diseminasi karya ilmiah yang konsisten dan tepat waktu sepanjang tahun akademik. Abstract

Plastic waste, with its wide-ranging implications, has become a critical concern in both environmental governance and public health, particularly in Indonesia. The problem is exacerbated by inadequate infrastructure, fragmented legal and institutional arrangements, and limited public awareness. This study explores how participatory governance, institutional reform, and the integration of ethical principles can enhance plastic waste management at the local level. Employing a qualitative approach, the study draws insights from in-depth interviews, document analysis, and field observations of community-based initiatives in urban areas. The findings indicate that strategies such as waste banks, Islamic-based environmental education, and public private partnerships have contributed to increased community participation and measurable waste reduction. Supporting factors include a clear legal framework, decentralized policy implementation, and collaboration with non-governmental actors. Nevertheless, persistent challenges such as infrastructural deficiencies, cultural resistance, and institutional constraints continue to hinder progress. By aligning formal policy instruments with local ethical norms and everyday practices, this study offers a context-sensitive approach to sustainable waste governance, which is particularly relevant for developing regions.

Abstract

The Directorate General of Information and Public Diplomacy has established a vision of "Enhancing Indonesia's Positive Image in Supporting Diplomatic Resilience Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045." In realizing this vision, the Directorate General of Information and Public Diplomacy carries out a mission that focuses on strengthening public diplomacy, optimizing strategic communication, promoting Indonesia's soft power diplomatic assets, and strengthening the role of the Indonesian diaspora in supporting national development and improving Indonesia's position on the global stage. This paper will review the Directorate General of Information and Public Diplomacy's 2025–2029 strategic planning document. The targets listed in the 2025–2029 strategic planning document are essentially still in the implementation stage so their achievement cannot yet be assessed comprehensively. However, this paper will explore the challenges of program implementation in strengthening public diplomacy and strategic communication, promoting Indonesia's soft power diplomatic assets, and managing and strengthening the role of the Indonesian diaspora. From the findings, the author found that Indonesia's Soft Power Diplomacy strategy tends to be passive, becoming a challenge in Indonesian public diplomacy, especially in achieving the set targets. Overall, the performance targets set out in the document are highly relevant to the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, as it seeks to build Indonesia's international reputation as a capital for long-term development. Unfortunately, human resource capacity development and technology utilization remain inadequate.

Abstract

The 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup provided Indonesia with a strategic opportunity to strengthen its international reputation through sports diplomacy following challenges in hosting previous international football tournaments. This study aims to analyze how the successful organization of the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup contributed to Indonesia’s nation branding. The research employed a qualitative approach using explanatory analysis. Data were collected through library research based on secondary sources, including academic books, scholarly journal articles, official documents, and credible news reports. The findings reveal that the successful hosting of the tournament enhanced Indonesia’s image as a country capable of organizing an international sporting event in a professional, safe, and well-coordinated manner. This achievement was reflected in the readiness of sports infrastructure, effective inter-agency coordination, the promotion of national cultural identity through the Bacuya mascot, and positive international recognition of the event’s implementation. From a nation branding perspective, the most significant impacts were observed in the dimensions of tourism, governance, culture and heritage, and people. The study concludes that the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup served as an effective instrument of sports diplomacy in strengthening Indonesia’s positive international image and increasing global confidence in the country’s capacity to host major international sporting events.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze Indonesia's cultural diplomacy strategy through traditional dance in strengthening bilateral relations with Türkiye during the 2021–2025 period. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach using secondary data collected from academic literature, official government documents, journal articles and other relevant publications. The analysis is grounded in Joseph Nye's Soft Power theory and the Multi-Track Diplomacy framework developed by Louise Diamond and John W. McDonald to examine the contributions of both state and non-state actors in Indonesia's cultural diplomacy. The findings demonstrate that traditional dance functions as an effective instrument of soft power by enhancing Indonesia's national image, fostering mutual understanding and strengthening diplomatic, economic, educational and socio-cultural cooperation between Indonesia and Türkiye. Cultural activities organized by the Indonesian Embassy, the Indonesian diaspora, universities, cultural communities and media platforms created sustainable people-to-people engagement and broadened Indonesia's cultural presence in Türkiye. The synergy among government institutions, business actors, educational institutions, diaspora communities and the media significantly contributed to the effectiveness of cultural diplomacy. This study concludes that traditional dance has become a strategic component of Indonesia's foreign policy and recommends strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration to further enhance bilateral relations with Türkiye through cultural diplomacy.
