Abstract

The estimated number of cases of hypertension in Indonesia is 63,309,620 people. According to the 2018 National Health Research (Riskesdas) report, approximately 34.11% of the population ≥ 18 years old suffers from hypertension (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2019). Across Indonesia's 34 provinces, this condition can trigger various unexpected problems, such as threatening realities and increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, and even death. The North Sulawesi Provincial Health Office explained that cases of hypertension in North Sulawesi reached 32,742 cases. This report uses case studies, nursing care provided using electrolyte fluid therapy and medication to address fluid balance and reduce pain, as well as pain management using Benson relaxation techniques, which can also help reduce pain. The results of the study found that acute pain problems are associated with increased cerebral vascular pressure. Sleep pattern disturbances are associated with psychological injury agents. Anxiety is related to lack of exposure to information about the disease process. The final results showed reduced headaches, complaints of insomnia began to improve, and feelings of anxiety and worry have decreased. In conclusion, fluid therapy, medication, and Benson relaxation techniques can address pain, sleep disturbances, and anxiety. Families are advised to maintain and monitor their health at the nearest hospital or community health center.

Abstract

Based on the health profile in 2019, approximately 52.9% of the total number of children suffer from bronchopneumonia. West Papua has 129.1% of children with bronchopneumonia cases, DKI Jakarta 104.5%, North Kalimantan 67.9% and Sulawesi reaching 86.2%. Breathing exercises in children using the pursed lips breathing method are used to remove secretions and free air trapped in the lungs. Knowing pursed lips breathing in pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia focuses on adjusting the respiratory system for ineffective airway clearance. This research method uses a case study method with a single case nursing care approach as the unit of analysis. The unit of analysis is a pediatric client with bronchopneumonia with an intervention of providing pursed lips breathing for 15 minutes in pediatric patients with bronchopneumonia. Based on the results of the existing assessment, the priority diagnosis was found to be Ineffective Airway Clearance (D.0001) associated with airway hypersecretion. The application of Pursed Lips Breathing that has been carried out on pediatric patients with Bronchopneumonia can be concluded that Pursed Lips Breathing can help slow breathing, increase respiratory efficiency and reduce shortness of breath.

Abstract

People with schizophrenia will experience interference in their independence in carrying out functions and roles in daily life, such as caring for themselves, going to school or work and other functions. The factor that causes the high recurrence rate of schizophrenia is that families do not know how to handle clients with mental disorders when they return to the family environment, making it a burden for the family. Family psychoeducation is a form of family mental health care therapy by providing information and education through therapeutic communication. The aim of the research is to determine the effect of family psychoeducation therapy on the level of independence of people with mental disorders at the Prof. Mental Hospital. Dr. Vl. Ratuumbuysang, Manado City. This research is a quasi-experimental research. The research was carried out in May 2025 at the Prof. The conclusion from the research results is that there is an influence of family psychoeducation therapy on the level of independence of people with mental disorders at the Prof. Mental Hospital. Dr. Vl. Ratumbuysang Manado City.

Abstract

Dementia is a symptom of decreased memory, thinking ability, behavior, and the ability to perform daily activities. Brain gymnastics is a series of simple body movement exercises performed to stimulate the left and right brain (lateral dementia), lighten or relax the front or back of the brain (focusing dementia), and stimulate the systems related to feelings or emotions, namely the midbrain (limbic) and cerebrum (concentration dementia). The purpose of this study was to determine the Application of Brain Gymnastics on Cognitive Function in Patient Mrs. R with Dementia in a Nursing Home. The research method used was a descriptive type of research with a case study design, using a nursing process approach. The results of the study were the main diagnosis of Memory Disorders related to the aging process characterized by having experienced forgetfulness. Interventions were given 2x24 hours. Based on the development of the patient's condition during the 2 days of brain gymnastics, the results obtained were that the patient said she felt she could gradually recognize the day, month, and year. In conclusion, the implementation of Brain Gymnastics after nursing intervention has been shown to improve memory, although the desired outcome has not yet been achieved, necessitating continued intervention. One recommendation is the need for greater attention to dementia patients by regularly performing brain gymnastics.

Abstract

When someone suffers from hypertension, signs and symptoms will appear, namely pain in one part of the neck. Pain or stiffness in the neck muscles is caused by increased pressure on the walls of blood vessels in the neck area, resulting in obstructed blood flow, and the end result of metabolism in the neck area due to lack of oxygen and nutrients. Pain felt by people with hypertension will interfere with daily activities. Non-pharmacological treatment can reduce pain and can be done individually. The use of warm compresses is more effective for painful areas that can reduce muscle spasms caused by neuronal ischemia that inhibits the transmission of pain stimuli, causing vasodilation and increased blood flow in the area. And applying warm compresses does not have negative impacts. The purpose of this study was to reduce pain by applying warm compresses to the neck area in the elderly Mrs. S. with hypertension in a nursing home. The evaluation results showed that warm compress therapy reduced pain in Mrs. S from a pain scale of 7 down to 4. The conclusion is that there was a decrease in pain in Mrs. S with hypertension experiencing acute pain after being given warm compress therapy to the neck area.

Abstract

Aging leads to various physical and psychological changes, increasing the risk of degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Known as “The Silent Killer,” hypertension often occurs without symptoms and poses serious health risks in the elderly. Non-pharmacological approaches, such as breathing techniques, are increasingly used to manage blood pressure. This case study involved the application of the Alternate Nostril Breathing exercise as part of nursing care for an elderly patient with hypertension (Mrs. L.H.) at Panti Werdha Damai Ranomuut. The intervention was carried out for 3 consecutive days. The technique involved guided breathing exercises designed to reduce stress and stabilize blood pressure. After three days of intervention, the patient’s blood pressure decreased from 170/100 mmHg to 150/85 mmHg. The patient also reported improved sleep quality and reduced activity intolerance. The Alternate Nostril Breathing technique proved effective as a complementary nursing intervention to help reduce blood pressure in elderly patients with hypertension. This technique can be recommended as part of routine non-pharmacological care for similar cases.
