Abstract

The National Early Warning Score (NEWS) is an early detection assessment system for detecting worsening patient conditions (Megawati et al., 2023). A nurse's knowledge of NEWSS can help coordinate nursing actions or care. Scoring skills can influence compliance with the scores obtained. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between nurses' knowledge of the National Early Warning System Score (NEWSS) and its implementation in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit (ER) of Bhayangkara Hospital Level III. The type of research used in this study is descriptive analytic, examining the relationship between variables using a cross-sectional study. A cross-sectional approach is a research approach that uses a simultaneous approach or data collection at a single point in time. The population in this study was 24 nurses in the emergency department (ER) and 8 nurses in the intensive care unit (ICU). The total number of nurses was 32. The sample in this study was taken using a total sampling technique of 32 nurses. Based on the results of the study using the Chi Square test, the significant asymp value of P Value is 0.000 <0.05, The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between nurses' knowledge about the National Early Warning System Score (NEWSS) and its implementation in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit (ER) of Bhayangkara Hospital Level III Manado. The suggestion from this study is that it is expected to increase knowledge, insight, and information for nurses, where nurses are an important part of the hospital who are required to provide good behavior in order to help patients achieve recovery.

Abstract

Stunting is still a serious public health problem in Indonesia, especially in rural areas. Lembang Sa'Tandung is an area with the highest number of stunting cases in the Ulusalu Health Center working area, Tana Toraja Regency. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the posyandu service program in overcoming and preventing stunting in the area. The study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation with four key informants: puskesmas officers, village midwives, posyandu cadres, and mothers of children under five. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that the posyandu program has been implemented routinely and targets risk groups through monitoring child growth and development, providing additional food (PMT), and nutrition counseling. There has been an increase in nutritional awareness among mothers of children under five. However, the effectiveness of the program has not been optimal because there are still obstacles such as limited budget, lack of facilities and health workers, low community literacy, and lack of consistency of counseling activities and cross-sector coordination. Strengthening education, increasing the capacity of cadres, and cross-sector collaboration are needed to support the success of the program.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition in which toddlers consistently grow poorly due to prolonged malnutrition and frequent illness. This condition disrupts physical growth and brain development, increases the risk of disease in adulthood, and reduces work ability. This study aims to analyze non-dietary factors associated with stunting in Kotabunan District, East Bolaang Mongondow Regency. The study was conducted quantitatively and used a cross-sectional design. Seventy-nine toddlers aged 24 to 59 months and their mothers or caregivers were randomly selected. Data were collected through a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, as well as data from the Child Health Card (KMS) and community health center records. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate (logistic regression) methods. The chi-square test results showed a significant association between maternal education level (p=0.035), child vaccination status 0,002 access to health services (p=0.031), environmental sanitation conditions (p=0.018), and birth spacing (p=0.008) and stunting.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease that poses a public health problem. Diabetes mellitus is listed as the fourth national research priority for degenerative diseases. Type II diabetes mellitus was among the ten most prevalent diseases in the Koya Tondano Community Health Center work area, with a total number of sufferers in 2016. The increase in the number of diabetes sufferers is also caused by risk factors, one of which is risky health behavior. Education level also plays a role in the increase in this disease. Education level usually influences health behavior. This study aims to examine the relationship between education level and the incidence of type II diabetes in the Koya Tondano Community Health Center work area. This study used an observational analytical study with a cross-sectional study design. The population used in this study was the average number of patients visiting the Koya Tondano Community Health Center in 2022, namely 161 people. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling with a sample size of 115 based on the Yamen formula. The results showed that the majority of respondents (81 people) had a high level of education, while 34 (29.6%) had a low level of education. Of the respondents who had diabetes at the time of the study, 40 (34.8%) had diabetes, while 75 (65.2%) did not have diabetes. Bivariate analysis showed a relationship between education level and the incidence of diabetes mellitus in the Koya Community Health Center, South Tondano District, with a P value of 0.026.
