Abstract

On learning physics, many students are less understanding concept well.Students only memorization theory and formulas than understand the physics so its difficult to apply knowledge in daily life. Media of instruction designed can help students for creative thinking and discover patterns so that they could understand the subject matter well. Air track is one of the media that can be used for experimental mechanics of motion. However, the barriers are is the price of air track is an expensive. According to the survey of one of the producers of educational tools, a set of air track is prices reaches 10,5 million rupiah. The author intends to make the air track based infrared sensor as mechanic learning media that cheap and qualified. So that through these device, students can improve the understanding of the mechanics and physics learning interest. The methods used in the manufacture of air track design are prototype, preparation tools and materials, prototyping, testing and analysis, as well as finalization and completion. The results obtained with the prototype units with 3 components namely fotogate, gliders, air track support, series of electronic sensors and stopwatch, ackrilic, pulley and a spring System. Air track based infrared sensor worthy of use because the friction that occurs between the glider with air track very small (µ_k = 0.12). In addition, air track can be used as a device of teaching physics especially mechanics because it makes easy for students to understand the concepts, as well as the students were very interested to learn the mechanics of using the air track.Keywords : Air track, Media, Sensor

Abstract

ABSTRACK Background: Teeth crowding is commonly caused by difference between tooth size and jaw size. One of the methods to analyze it is by using Howes method to assess whether apical base is fit to hold the teeth or not and also as determinant of treatment planning, whether patient is to be treated by extraction or expa nsion. Purpose : The purpose of this study is to describe dental and basal arch contraction distraction using Howes method, mean dental arch length and mean basal arch width of orthodontic patients at RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman. Method : The method was descriptive study with cross sectional approach. Samples were chosen using total sampling. Samples were 48 maxillary of orthodontic patients at RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman during September 2013-Juni 2014 fitted to inclusion and exclusion criteria previously set; consisted of 16 maxillary impressions of male subjects and 32 maxillary impressions of female subjects. Result : Result of this study presented mean maxillary Total Tooth Material (TTM) as 92.39 mm. Maxillary contraction distraction cases were 0 distraction case, 44 questionable cases, and 4 contraction cases. Conclusion : Based on the research has been conducted could be concluded that many patient were questionable cases. ABSTRAK Latar Belakang : Gigi berdesakan biasanya disebabkan perbedaan ukuran gigi dan ukuran rahang. Salah satu cara menganalisisnya menggunakan metode Howes yang bertujuan mengetahui cukup atau tidak basis apikal memuat gigi serta sebagai penentu rencana perawatan, pasien membutuhkan perawatan ekstraksi atau ekspansi. Tujuan : Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menggambarkan kontraksi distraksi lengkung gigi dan lebar lengkung basal secara metode Howes, rerata panjang lengkung gigi dan rerata lebar lengkung basal pasien klinik ortodonti di RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Metode: Pengambilan sampel penelitian dilakukan secara total sampling. Sampel penelitian ini 48 hasil cetakan maksila pasien klinik ortodonti RSGM Gusti Hasan Aman Periode September 2013-Juni 2014 sesuai kriteria inklusi dan ekslusi, diperoleh 16 hasil cetakan maksila laki-laki serta 32 hasil cetakan maksila perempuan. Hasil : Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rerata Total Tooth Material (TTM) maksila 92.39 mm. Kasus kontraksi distraksi maksila yaitu 0 kasus distraksi, 44 kasus meragukan dan 4 kasus kontraksi. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan dapat diambil kesimpulan bahwa banyak pasien yang mengalami kasus meragukan.

Abstract

The research about the balancing of redox reaction on chemistry subject has been done. This research was conducted on class XII IPA8 SMA Negeri 2 Palu with 28 of the student, in the first semester of the academic year 2014-2015. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative in which data processing use percentages and rating scale. The data is collected by observation sheets, questionnaires, and documentation. Implementation of lesson study on class XII IPA8 SMA Negeri 2 Palu is conducted in three meetings time (open class) with 3 phases; plan, do and see, respectively. Based on the results obtained every meeting by the researcher, the data activity of students is rising by 54.93, 59.86, and 74.30%. Furthermore, at the third meeting, the data obtained is an excellent category which means the student’s activity in the lesson study was increased. These prove that through the lesson study can increase the activity of the learning process of students. In addition, based on the data analysis of the student’s learning outcomes during three meeting times is increased. Average of completeness of student’s learning outcomes of every meeting is 67.85, 85.71, and 100%, respectively. Again, these prove that the student’s learning outcomes by classical can be increased through the lesson study.

Abstract

Daun serunai (Chromolaena odorata L) mengandung senyawa utama yaitu senyawa flavonoid, saponin, triterpen, steroid dan tanin. Diketahui daun serunai memiliki aktivitas farmakologi antelmintik, antimalaria, analgesik, antiinflamasi, antipiretik, antispasmodik, antimikroba, antifungi dan diuretik. Efek analgetika daun serunai berasal dari flavonoid yang terkandung di dalamnya. Metode penyarian daun serunai dilakukan secara maserasi menggunakan alkohol 70%, bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas ekstrak daun serunai sebagai analgetik pada mencit putih jantan. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan metode pengumpulan sampel secara purposive sampling, menggunakan hewan uji mencit jantan putih yang terbagi menjadi 5 kelompok (kontol positif (kalium diklofenak), kontrol negatif (Na-CMC 0,5%), dosis (50 mg/kg BB, 100 mg/kg BB, dan  200 mg/kg BB), diinduksi nyeri dengan menggunakan asam asetat 0,5%. Daya analgetik dihitung dengan menghitung jumlah geliat mencit selama 1 jam. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji kruskal wallis. Ekstrak etanol daun serunai memiliki potensi efektivitas sebagai daya analgetik terhadap mencit putih jantan (p 0,043 > 0,05) dengan persentase daya analgetik pada dosis 50 mg/kg BB (28,5%), dosis 100 mg/kg BB (58,8%), dosis  200 mg/kg BB (67,3%).

Abstract

Konsumsi bahan bakar di Indonesia telah melebihi produksi dalam negeri. Dalam kurun waktu 10-15 tahun ke depan cadangan rainyak bumi Indonesia diperkirakan akan habis. Oleh karena itu, usaha untuk mencari bahan bakar alternatif yang dapat diperbaharui (renewable), ramah lingkungan dan bernilai ekonomis, semakin banyak dilakukan. Limbah industri kayu dan pertanian seperti serbuk gergaji ulin dan serbuk gergaji kayu biasa yang banyak terdapat di Banjarmasin belum termanfaatkan sepenuhnya. Proses pembuatan briket diawali dengan cara mengeringkan serbuk gergaji ulin maupun serbuk gergaji kayu biasa di bawah terik matahari untuk mengurangi kadar airnya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkkan dengan massa yang sama, briket biasa maupun briket arang yang dari serbuk gergaji ulin lebih baik dari serbuk gergaji kayu biasa, karena menunjukkkan waktu yang paling lama dan nyala api yang lebih stabil serta lebih ramah lingkungan dan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar alternatif pengganti bahan bakar  minyak.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of gadget toward early childhood speaking ability especially those in the age range of 3-4 years. The 3-4 years old children generally have enthusiasm in speaking, their curiosity tend to be greater, such as telling something that happened around them to the closest person. However, the presence of gadget in this digital era has negative influences on their speaking ability. The majority of children in Indonesia spend time playing gadget. The study seeks to explain the use of gadget toward early childhood speaking ability. The methodological approach taken in this study is literature review by connecting this study with existing literature and previous researches which have limited investigations. The result obtained in this study indicates that the use of gadget can delay the children speaking ability, especially children aged 3-4 years.

Abstract

 Telah dilakukan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan tujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman  dan respon siswa kelas X – D MAN 3 Banjarmasin terhadap mata pelajaran kimia pada pokok bahasan penyetaraan persamaan reaksi sederhana.Penelitan tindakan kelas ini menggunakan metode telunjuk kanan dan telunjuk kiri. Subyek penelitian siswa kelas X-D MAN 3 Banjarmasin sebanyak 38 orang, yang terdiri dari 13 orang siswa dan 25 orang siswi. Penelitian dilaksanakan dari bulan Oktober 2014  sampai Januari 2015 didukung dengan dua orang guru kimia yang mengajar di kelas berbeda bertindak sebagai pengamat (observer). Data yang dikumpulkan melalu teknik tes dan non tes dan analisis menggunakan uji presentase.Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pada siklus 1 kemampuan guru menerapkan metode telunjuk kanan dan telunjuk kiri pada pokok bahasan penyetaraan persamaan reaksi sederhana adalah baik dan ada peningkatan pemahaman siswa. Ketuntasan belajar pada siklus I secara klasikal mencapai 70,75 %, sedangkan siklus II mencapai 97,20 %. Selain itu, terdapat peningkatan keterampilan kooperatif terutama kemampuan siswa untuk melakukan hubungan sosial seperti mau bertanya pada orang lain, menghargai pendapat orang lain, mau menerima saran orang lain dan mau menyumbangkan ilmu, yang sebelum tindakan kurang mampu dan setelah dilakukan tindakan menjadi sangat mampu.

Abstract

Pelabuhan Belawan terletak di Kota Medan Provinsi Sumetera Utara. Pelabuhan Belawan merupakan salah satu pelabuhan yang memiliki peranan penting, karena letaknya yang berada di Selat Malaka yang berbatasan langsung dengan Negara Malaysia dan Thailand, dan Pulau Sumatera Indonesia. Alur pelayaran Pelabuhan Belawan mengalami sedimentasi yang cukup signifikan setiap tahunnya, yang berasal dari sedimen litoral. Solusi teknis yang disarankan untuk mencegah sedimentasi tersebut adalah bangunan pemecah gelombang atau breakwater di kedua sisi alur pelayaran, jenis rubble-mount. Dalam desain rubble-mount breakwater, hal yang sangat penting adalah menentukan tinggi gelombang desain yang tepat sebagai input perhitungan berat armor yang akan digunakan. Tinggi gelombang desain merupakan tinggi gelombang periode ulang tertentu di lokasi struktur, yang mana gelombang tersebut telah mengalami transformasi selama perambatannya dari laut dalam. Data gelombang yang digunakan adalah periode dan tinggi gelombang yang merupakan hasil proses hindcasting data angina jam-jaman selama 10 tahun. Selanjutnya dilakukan analisis gelombang ekstrim yang hasilnya berupa tinggi gelombang berbagai periode ulang untuk setiap arah, dimana tinggi gelombang periode ulang 100 tahun akan dimodelkan transformasinya menggunakan software 2D. Berdasarkan hasil pemodelan transformasi gelombang ini, maka didapatkan tinggi gelombang desain untuk perencanaan rubble-mount breakwater Pelabuhan Belawan.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the toxicopathological effect of Ailanthus altissima extract in liver and kidney of the mouse. The treatments in this study were: (1) negative control (carboxy methocellulose), extracts with concentration of (2) 1 mg/kg BW, (3) 10 mg/kg BW, (4) 100 mg/kg BW, and (5) 1000 mg/kg BW. Every treatment consisted of 5 mice. After receiving A.altissima extract for seven day consecutively, the mice were then euthanized with overdose of ether. The liver and kidney were taken and then fixed within 10% solution of Buffer Neutral Formalin (BNF). Histopathology slides of liver and kidney were processed and stained with Hematoxylline Eosin. The cell degeneration and cell death were observed with video photo microscope. The lesion of cell death and degeneration of hepatocytes and epithelium of kidney proximal tubule were counted. The data were analyzed statistically with ANOVA test continued with Duncan test. The result showed that cell necrosis of hepatocytes was not significantly different (P>0.05) compared to control treatment, while cell necrosis was increasing in the treatment of ≥ 10 mg/kg BW in tubuli of the kidney.

Abstract

OsHox-6, belongs to the transcription factor homeodomain leucine zipper (HD-Zip) protein sub-family I, has unknown function. This study was aimed to characterize the phenotypes of two homozygous transgenic rice lines (S29-62-2 and S.40.4-158-1) containing an extra copy of OsHox-6 gene under the control of a rice constitutive promoter, OsLEA3, and to evaluate their tolerance to water stress. A real-time quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) showed that the transcript expression of OsHox-6 gene in the transgenic lines increased 5-10 folds under a normal irrigation and 10-20 folds after exposure to water stress conditions as compared to its wild type control. Transgenic plants overexpressing OsHox-6 exhibited phenotypic alteration at the normal irrigation by inducing tiller formation, suggesting a decrease in the apical dominance. Transgenic plants also showed significant enhancement in the total grain number, however, the number of empty grains  also increased significantly (~16-22%).  After imposed to the water stress, the number of empty grains in the transgenic lines was even higher (up to 83% in average). Furthermore, observations on the water loss rates, relative water contents and drought resistance indices (DRI) suggested that the overexpression of OsHox-6 did not significantly increase tolerance to water stress.  Further research is required to reveal the detailed mechanisms of OsHox-6 in response to water and other abiotic stresses.
