Abstract

Reproductive health is an important aspect in the lives of adolescent girls, especially during menstruation. Lack of knowledge and understanding of reproductive health can impact suboptimal personal hygiene behavior, thus increasing the risk of reproductive health disorders. The study aims to analyze the effect of reproductive health education on personal hygiene behavior of girls during menstruation at HKBP Pardamean Junior High School. This type of research is a quantitative study with a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest–posttest approach. The sampling technique is total sampling with a sample of 27 respondents. Data collection was carried out using a personal hygiene behavior questionnaire before and after the provision of reproductive health education. Data analysis was carried out univariately and bivariately using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results of the study showed a significant influence between reproductive health education on personal hygiene behavior of girls during menstruation with a p-value <0.05. This indicates that reproductive health education can improve personal hygiene practices among adolescent girls during menstruation. It is concluded that there is a significant influence between reproductive health education and personal hygiene practices among adolescent girls during menstruation.

Abstract

Hyperuricemia in the elderly often causes joint pain that can interfere with daily activities. In addition to pharmacological therapy, joint pain can also be managed using non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is red ginger compress therapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of red ginger compress therapy on reducing joint pain in elderly patients with hyperuricemia at Kedai Durian Public Health Center, Medan Johor District, Medan City. This study employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sample consisted of 20 elderly respondents selected using total sampling technique. Joint pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed a decrease in joint pain intensity after the administration of red ginger compress therapy, with a p-value < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest. In conclusion, red ginger compress therapy has a significant effect on reducing joint pain in elderly patients with hyperuricemia. It is recommended that future research involve a larger number of respondents, a longer research duration, and take into account other factors such as diet and physical activity levels.

Abstract

Orphanages are social institutions that have service programs that meet the needs of the community to solve social problems, especially poverty, ignorance, and the problems of orphans and abandoned children that are developing in the community. Children are the most important asset for the progress of the nation because they are the next generation who are fighting to face future challenges This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional survey research design. The sampling technique in this study was Total Sampling, but when the study was carried out with 56 respondents who attended, the sample in this study amounted to 56 respondents. Data analysis used a parametric test of Pearson correlation. The results of this study with the Pearson correlation test showed that there was a significant relationship between forgiveness and happiness with a p-value = 0.046 (α<0.05). It is recommended for future researchers to add other variables related to forgiveness and happiness such as religiosity, meaning of life, self-acceptance and subjective well-being.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the major health problems among the elderly and is often referred to as a silent killer because it can cause serious complications such as stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure if not properly managed. The objective of this study is to determine the comparison of the effectiveness of lemongrass and ginger decoction foot soaking therapy on reducing blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension in Laut Dendang Village. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test approach was used. Elderly patients with hypertension were divided into two groups: lemongrass and ginger decoction foot soaking therapy. Data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test and the Independent Sample t-Test. The study showed that lemongrass and ginger decoction foot soaking therapies both had an effect on reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension (p value = 0.001 < 0.05). The results of the comparative test indicated that there was a difference in effectiveness between the two therapies, in which ginger decoction foot soaking therapy resulted in a greater reduction in blood pressure compared to lemongrass decoction foot soaking therapy. Ginger decoction foot soaking therapy is more effective as a non-pharmacological therapy in reducing blood pressure among elderly patients with hypertension.

The use of gadgets among elementary school children has increased significantly along with the development of digital technology. Excessive gadget use has the potential to disrupt children’s physiological needs, particularly sleep quantity and sleep quality, which play an important role in growth, learning concentration, and physical and mental health. The objective This study is determine the relationship between gadget use and the quantity and quality of sleep among students in grades 4–6 at HKBP Pardamean Elementary School, Medan. The methodes This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The popula tion consisted of all students in grades 4–6 at HKBP Pardamean Elementary School, totaling 50 students. A total sampling technique was used, in which the entire population was included as the sample. The instruments used were a 21-item Likert-scale gadget use questionnaire, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to measure sleep quality, and sleep duration measurement to assess sleep quantity. The results of the Spearman’s rho correlation test showed a value of (p > 0.05), indicating that there was no significant relationship between gadget use and the quantity and quality of sleep among students in grades 4–6 at HKBP Pardamean Elementary School, Medan. the conculsion is Gadget use among the respondents was not statistically proven to have an effect on the quantity and quality of sleep in school-aged children. It is recommended that future studies include additional variables such as parenting style, academic stress, and sleep environment as potential influencing factors.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly shaping medical education, particularly in assessment, feedback, and clinical reasoning. This narrative review synthesizes recent evidence on the use of large language models, conversational agents, and AI-enhanced simulation in these three areas. The review highlights that AI can support educators by generating assessment materials, assisting rubric-based scoring, providing formative feedback, simulating patient encounters, and reviewing clinical reasoning documentation. These applications may help address persistent challenges in medical education, including limited faculty time, difficulty assessing higher-order reasoning, and the resource demands of high-quality simulation. However, the benefits of AI are accompanied by important risks. Concerns related to validity, bias, privacy, academic integrity, local relevance, and professional formation remain central, especially when tools developed in well-resourced and English-dominant contexts are applied in different educational and clinical settings. This review argues that AI should not be understood as a replacement for educational judgment, clinical supervision, or human relationships in medical training. Rather, AI is best positioned as a supervised educational tool that can extend the reach of good teaching when embedded in clear curricula, locally validated assessment systems, transparent governance, and faculty development programs. The central challenge for medical educators is therefore not whether AI should be used, but how it can be used responsibly while preserving the ethical, relational, and patient-centered foundations of medical education.
