Abstract

Background: Nodular postscabietic scabies refer to the persistent intermittent signs of scabies that are seen in active and post-treatment period that might last for months. The spectrum of clinico-morphological ranges that can be observed with sarcoptic nodules is broad, and most of the entity's criteria can be elicited histopathologically and pathologically. The management of such nodules may be a challenge. They are commonly treated through local application of corticosteroids or injection of corticosteroids to nodules but the response to treatment is less than clent and relapses are very frequent. The objective of this study was to illuminate which of these features prevail and which ones fade in scarred sites which undergo postscabietic nodule development. The time span between August 2021 to May 2022 was allowed to collect samples from patients with (1-60) years old and full of scabies burrows who visit teaching hospitals and private dermatology clinics in Kut, Wasit Province, Iraq. Treat groups were split into 30 females, and 20 males; with persistent itchy nodular lesions of scabies demonstrated clinically and histopathologically. Everity grade scabies was evaluated by the number of lesions and rated it as severity of itching. Long-term treatment with topical glucocorticoids for 14 days in every age. Tissue from the blisters of patient was obtained after medication. The specimens were washed, fixed and cut to 4-5 µm and stained with H&E. The staining allowed us to observe the fragments of tissues under light microscope with different magnification power. We have observed excessive males and the prevalence of SCABies were more in a young adult group in comparison with other age groups. It was found that lesions with wiry projections tended to persist for two weeks to 52 weeks and the number of nodules had varied from one to fourteen lesions. Examination of Histopathological slide showing acanthosis in 80, histolymphocytic infiltration in 76, and eosinophilia in 100 of total cases in the whole period. After the scabitic nodule loop, the body experiences a hypersensitivity reaction. From the three hundred cases examined microscopically, most (80%) of them were found to be characterized by acanthotic epidermis and diffuse dense dermal lymphocytic infiltration. Neutrophilic reaction, epithelioid-granulomatous inflammation and eosinophilia have been diagnosed in 76 % sight upon while 100 % of other nodules have shown eosinophilia.

Abstract

A study was carried out to study the characteristics of sexual development and measures of secondary prophylaxis in patients with chronic bronchitis. The study included 84 children with chronic bronchitis aged 10 to 16 years. Of them, 37 (44%) are girls and 47 (56%) are boys. Moderate - severe course of the disease was revealed in 43 (51,2%) children, severe - in 41 (48,8%). It was revealed that chronic bronchitis adversely affects the sexual development of children of both sexes. The pace of development of secondary sexual characteristics occurs gradually and does not complete until the end of puberty. The comprehensive stage-by-stage secondary prophylaxis we proposed for children with chronic bronchitis disease contributed to the improvement of both the underlying disease and sexual development.

Abstract

Objective: to evaluate the relationship between body mass index and compliance in patients with coronary artery disease comorbid with diabetes mellitus. Material and methods: 148 patients with stable angina pectoris (hereinafter referred to as: stable angina - SA) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), i.e. with IHD+DM. Median age = 60.9±8.5 years. According to the blood glucose level, 3 groups were divided: group 1 – 74 patients whose blood glucose level was ≤ 10.0 mmol/l; Group 2 – 43 patients whose blood glucose level was = 10.1-15.0 mmol/l; Group 3 – 31 patients whose blood glucose levels were ≥ 15.1 mmol/l. Of the entire sample of patients, in 99 (66.9%) cases the body mass index was calculated - BMI, kg/m2 (n=99). The median BMI was 29.0±3.6 kg/m2. Compliance was assessed using the Morisky-Green questionnaire. Results: In patients with coronary artery disease + diabetes, an increase in blood glucose levels ≥ 15.1 mmol/l was associated with a trend towards obesity, which was confirmed by an increase in both the number of patients with obesity and the increase in the degree of obesity in them (p<0.05). In patients with high blood glucose levels, in terms of calculating BMI, there was a more pronounced tendency to obesity and low adherence to drug therapy, while, according to CAG data, the frequency of lesions of the circumflex artery was more than 4.5 times more prevalent, in comparison with lesions of the LAD and RCA. Conclusion: Given the increased risk of diabetes complications in obese patients, clinicians must understand how to treat obesity in patients with diabetes, including adherence to drug therapy, as well as prevention of its complications

Abstract

Epidemiological studies reveal that the risk of developing stomach cancer increase by Helicobacter pylori infection, and scientists assume that oxidative DNA damage caused by the bacteria is to blame. Oxidative DNA damage in Helicobacter pylori-infected cases was measured before and after two weeks of clarithromycin and amoxicillin (1 g/day) +amoxicillin (1 g/day) treatment using DNA chain fractures and form amidoprimidine DNA glycosylase (fpg)-sensitive regions. After treatment, it was found that the Comet method's measurement of the frequency of fpg-sensitive regions decreased (P0.001), while the frequency of DNA chain breaks remained unchanged. A favorable connection between age and prevalence off fpg-sensitive areas was found (r = 0.59, P 0.05). The results suggest that lowering oxidative DNA damage through treatment with clarithromycin + amoxicillin in helicobacter pylori-infected individuals may lessen the risk of helicobacter pylori-mediated stomach cancer formation.

Abstract

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing problem in bacterial pathogens, particularly in hospital-acquired nosocomial infections. Klebsiella is an important pathogen that causes various infections in hospitalized immunocompromised patients. Therefore, this study aims to fill this knowledge gap and provide insights into the correct detection and antibiotic resistance pattern of these organisms. we will investigate the spread of pneumonia bacteria, Klebsiella, isolate and identify it from different environmental sites, including human, soil, and water, also study the characteristics of antibiotic resistance and find similarities and differences between bacterial isolates. Finally, we detect the associated antibiotics resistance gene (CTX-M), using the genetic RT-PCR method. The study provides valuable information on the prevalence of antibiotic resistant Klebsiella spp. in different clinical and environmental sites, which can help in the development of effective strategies to control the spread of these bacteria. The study found that among all 86 isolated strains of Klebsiella spp. it was found that K. pneumoniae represents the major abundant strain in both clinical and environmental samples by percentages 41.5% and 51.5% respectively. It concerns also the highest ESBL production 71.7%, along with 58% CTX-M gene expression

Abstract

The emergence of multi-drug resistant (MDR) Staphylococcus aureus strains, particularly those expressing carbapenemase genes, poses a significant challenge in clinical settings. This study investigates the prevalence and expression profiles of carbapenemase genes (blaVIM, blaOXA-143, blaGES, blaOXA-23, and blaOXA-24) in S. aureus isolates from burn and wound patients in Tehran hospitals. A cross-sectional study was conducted using 100 S. aureus samples, which underwent biochemical testing for identification and antibiotic susceptibility testing. Gene expression analysis was performed using real-time PCR, and the results were analyzed with GRAPH PAD PRISM software. The study highlights the importance of understanding the molecular mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in S. aureus and contributes to the development of effective treatment strategies against MDR infections.

Abstract

In this study, 60 samples were collected from different sources in Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital and Karma Hospital . The random sampling process was conducted to identify the foci of pollution in P.aeruginosa, which was one of the objectives of this study and obtained diagnostic procedures. 45 samples were collected from Al-Zahra Teaching Hospital and collected from 15 samples Karma Hospital . Results of agricultural tests and tests biochemistry 10 isolates of P.aeruginosa bacteria . The pharmacological sensitivity of 10 samples was tested against 10 types of antibiotics in the method of spreading the disk to Kirby_bauer. All isolates were almost resistant . All antibiotics were resistant to severe resistance
