Abstract

This study explores the phenomenon of the rising contemporary Islamic event industry, which has transformed the landscape of da'wah in Indonesia, specifically in the Aceh Besar region. Amidst the currents of professionalization and commercialization of religious activities, da'wah is no longer merely a means of transmitting religious knowledge but has transformed into an industrial product managed professionally. The purpose of this study is to analyze the forms of da'wah commodification and the changing relationships between preachers, sponsors, and the congregation within this event ecosystem. Using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, this research focuses on various Islamic events, da'wah festivals, and community studies in Gampong Lamtutui, Peukan Bada District. The research findings indicate that da'wah has fully entered the logic of the religious industry, where da'wah events are packaged as mass consumption products that prioritize aesthetics and audience experience. A new transactional relationship has emerged between preachers as owners of symbolic capital, sponsors as providers of financial capital, and the congregation as religious consumers. Religious symbols are now closely intertwined with market logic, where the success of da'wah is often measured by material parameters and popularity. The implication of this phenomenon is a shift in religious authority, which now depends more on economic support and industrial networks than on traditional literary depth. This study confirms that modern da'wah practices have become a hybrid arena between the expression of spirituality and the accumulation of economic capital.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has generated a complex global information landscape characterized by the proliferation of disinformation, misinformation, and content manipulation. In this context, information verification can no longer be adequately understood as merely a technical procedure; rather, it requires an epistemological framework capable of explaining how truth is constructed, examined, and justified. This study aims to reconstruct the concept of tabayyun in Hadith as an epistemology of information verification that is relevant to the contemporary digital era. Employing a qualitative method, this research adopts a thematic approach to Hadiths related to tabayyun. The analysis is conducted through stages of data inventory, thematic classification, and conceptual analysis to identify its underlying epistemological structure. The findings reveal that tabayyun is not merely a moral injunction but constitutes an epistemological system encompassing three primary dimensions: cognitive, methodological, and ethical. The cognitive dimension emphasizes critical awareness in evaluating information; the methodological dimension reflects systematic procedures of verification; while the ethical dimension underscores responsibility in the use and dissemination of information. These three dimensions form an integrated mechanism that positions tabayyun as a holistic and reflective model of information verification. This study thus contributes to shifting the understanding of tabayyun from a purely normative framework toward a more structured epistemological formulation. In the contemporary context, these findings offer an alternative to predominantly technocentric approaches to verification by asserting that the truth of information is determined not only by data accuracy but also by the integrity of the process and ethical responsibility.

Abstract

This study analyzes the phenomenon of religious transformation among middle-class Muslims in Cigadung, Cibeunying Kaler, Bandung. Amidst the rapid development of the Sharia economy and creative industries, there has been a paradigm shift in religious practice from normative-private rituals to performative-public lifestyle expressions. The purpose of this study is to examine how the Sharia economy and halal fashion serve as arenas for constructing modern religious identity and the function of religious symbols in shaping social piety images. The method used is qualitative with a sociology of religion approach, involving in-depth interviews and observation of urban religious consumption practices. Research findings indicate that for middle-class Muslims, piety is no longer measured solely by the intensity of routine worship but also through involvement in symbolic consumption circuits. The Sharia economy functions as an instrument of social distinction that blends theological obedience with class prestige, while halal fashion acts as a visual language to represent a modern and cosmopolitan Muslim identity. Religious practice has undergone a process of sacralizing transactions, where every consumption choice becomes part of the religious identity narrative. The implications of this study show that the contemporary Muslim social structure is increasingly fragmented based on consumption patterns and religious aesthetics. In conclusion, religiosity in urban spaces has transformed into a fluid social lifestyle that balances spiritual demands with the dynamics of consumer capitalism.

Abstract

This study examines the shifting socio-religious and cultural landscape within the contemporary Saudi Arabian domestic sphere by analyzing the transformation of Islamic holiday celebration practices among urban Muslim families under the influence of Saudi Vision 2030. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive-analytical case study design, this research purposively focuses on upper-middle-class households in major metropolitan centers, specifically Riyadh and Jeddah. Data were systematically collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, digital observations of family lifestyle representations on social media, and visual documentation, which were subsequently evaluated using thematic analysis alongside the theoretical frameworks of Jean Baudrillard’s consumer culture theory and social representation theory. The findings indicate that the acceleration of state-led urbanization and economic modernization has fundamentally restructured traditional celebration dynamics, shifting the center of gravity for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha from sacred-conservative tribal rituals to a highly commercialized cultural hybridity. While core normative religious obligations are carefully preserved, the domestic preparation and celebratory periods are increasingly dominated by luxury retail consumption, high-end hospitality markets, and state-sponsored entertainment events. Furthermore, the ubiquity of global digital platforms, particularly Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, has redefined traditional family privacy boundaries by turning the private household into an expressive digital stage for performing contemporary class status. This rapid commercialization introduces a distinct value ambivalence among Saudi youth, who increasingly recontextualize sacred times as secular vacations and opportunities for personal entertainment rather than pure spiritual devotion. These insights highlight the urgent necessity for family and educational institutions in Saudi Arabia to actively maintain the essential spiritual virtues of Islam modern

Abstract

This study investigates the shifting landscape of religious understanding within the domestic sphere by examining the dynamics of intra-faith conflict management in urban Muslim families with multi-organizational backgrounds and its subsequent impact on children's religious education. Operating within a qualitative phenomenological case study framework, this research purposively selects and analyzes urban households where parents maintain active, distinct affiliations with different major Islamic mass organizations in Indonesia, such as Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah. Data were systematically gathered through semi-structured in-depth interviews with parents and children, domestic participant observations, and documentary analysis, and were processed using the interactive model of qualitative data analysis. The findings reveal that domestic religious friction primarily stems from differing organizational orientations regarding furu'iyah (non-fundamental) ritual practices and socio-political views rather than fundamental theological tenets. To preserve marital harmony and ensure family resilience, couples successfully develop collaborative coping mechanisms and adaptive communication models that operationalize the principles of tasamuh (tolerance) and family maslahah (collective welfare). Over time, this continuous domestic negotiation facilitates a profound intellectual transformation among spouses, shifting their religious outlook from exclusive-organizational rigidity to an inclusive-substantive understanding of Islam. Consequently, this domestic pluralism acts as a strategic incubator for children's psychospiritual development, reducing initial cognitive dissonance and ultimately fostering high levels of adaptability and a robust foundation in wasathiyah (Islamic moderation). These insights suggest that contemporary Muslim families must prioritize substantive ethical virtues over formal organizational labels to cultivate a tolerant, progressive, and resilient future generation.
