Abstract

Academic boredom has become a significant psychological phenomenon affecting literacy learning in elementary schools, characterized by unpleasant emotional experiences, cognitive deficits, and reduced motivation. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the adapted Pomodoro Technique in reducing academic boredom in literacy learning among fifth-grade students. This research employed a true experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group involving 53 fifth-grade students at SDN Krembung 1, randomly assigned to experimental (n=27) and control (n=26) groups. The experimental group received the Pomodoro Technique intervention (15 minutes focus, 5 minutes break) for 6 weeks, while the control group received conventional learning. Academic boredom was measured using the adapted Achievement Emotions Questionnaire Academic Boredom Subscale (α=0.906). Data were analyzed using paired t-test, independent t-test, and Cohen's d. The results showed a highly significant reduction in academic boredom scores in the experimental group (M=-12.22, SD=4.19, 20.70% decrease) compared to the control group (M=-1.65, SD=2.02, 2.87% decrease). Independent t-test revealed a very significant difference (t=-5.91, p<0.001) with a very large effect size (Cohen's d=-1.63), indicating that the Pomodoro Technique is 7.36 times more effective than conventional learning in reducing academic boredom. The adapted Pomodoro Technique is highly effective in reducing academic boredom in elementary school literacy learning, providing evidence-based solutions to support quality education goals aligned with Sustainable Development Goals 4 achievement.

Abstract

The current phenomenon in Islamic education shows a shift in learning orientation that tends to emphasize cognitive and academic aspects, while spiritual and emotional dimensions are often neglected. Many students experience a void in the meaning of learning, weak social empathy, and low moral awareness amid the rapid flow of digitalization and global competition. This condition indicates the need for a curriculum reconstruction that not only transfers knowledge but also fosters emotional and spiritual intelligence based on tarbawi values. This study aims to analyze the concept of integrating tarbawi values into an emotional 4.0-based Islamic curriculum as a strategy for character building and spiritual balance for students in the digital age. The research method used is descriptive qualitative through a library research approach, with analysis of classical and contemporary literature related to Islamic education, tarbawi values, and emotional intelligence theory. The results of the study show that the integration of tarbawi values such as sincerity, patience, trustworthiness, and empathy in the Islamic curriculum can optimize the affective aspects of students and strengthen the dimension of spirituality in line with the needs of the 21st century. The Emotional 4.0-based Islamic curriculum requires educators to be uswah hasanah and able to manage value-based, technology-based, and empathy-based learning. Thus, integrative and emotional Islamic education can produce a generation that is faithful, knowledgeable, and has noble character that is adaptive to the developments of the times.

Abstract

This study discusses the innovation of learning methods at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, UIN Sunan Kalijaga, with a focus on efforts to preserve traditional learning methods amidst educational modernization. In the digital era, educational institutions face the challenge of remaining relevant without neglecting traditional values, which are an important part of the identity of Islamic education. In this context, it is important to explore how the faculty integrates technology and innovation while maintaining classical learning methods. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Faculty of Ushuluddin's strategy in preserving traditional learning methods, identify the faculty's role in developing Islamic education innovation, and reveal students' and lecturers' perceptions of the implementation of hybrid education. This study is expected to provide theoretical contributions to the development of Islamic education and become a practical reference for the faculty in formulating learning strategies that harmonize tradition and innovation. The research method used is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. The study was conducted at the Faculty of Ushuluddin, involving several students as sources. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and interpretively, using the Miles and Huberman analysis model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.

Abstract

National education in Indonesia is currently facing a serious challenge in the form of a gap between theoretical moral knowledge and students' actual behavior in the field. This study aims to analyze the integration strategy and effectiveness of the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile in Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) learning to improve students' moral attitudes amidst the challenges of adolescent moral degradation. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data collection was carried out through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 3 teachers and 10 students, as well as documentation studies of teaching modules at SMP Negeri 1 Simpang Tiga, Pidie district, which were then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The results showed that integration was carried out through three main strategies, namely the insertion of values ​​in teaching materials, a project-based learning model, and school culture habituation. In addition, a significant increase was found in students' moral attitudes, especially in the dimensions of faith and piety in the aspects of academic honesty, mutual cooperation in collaboration, and global diversity in tolerance. This study concludes that PPKn learning oriented on the Pancasila Student Profile is effective in transforming civic knowledge into real and relevant moral dispositions. Therefore, it is recommended that schools adopt Pembelajaran Berbasis Proyek as the main model and strengthen habituation as a support for the whole-school approach to character sustainability

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of political education in strengthening civic literacy among PPKn (Civic Education) students through dialogic, analytical, and issue-based learning practices. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing document analysis, indirect observation, and literature review to examine the effectiveness of political education implementation within the higher education context. The findings indicate that the integration of political education into the curriculum, the use of discussion-driven and case-based instructional strategies, and student engagement in co-curricular activities significantly enhance analytical capacities, broaden conceptual understanding of citizenship, and foster critical and reflective civic dispositions. Moreover, students’ participation in deliberative forums and student organizations enriches their political experience, thereby contributing substantively to the development of their civic literacy. The study concludes that issue-based political education, when supported by a democratic and participatory academic environment, plays a significant role in advancing students’ comprehensive civic literacy. The study recommends the development of curricula that are responsive to socio-political dynamics, the strengthening of participatory pedagogical approaches, and the cultivation of a campus ecosystem conducive to democratic practices and active civic participation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of applying the role playing method assisted by chain story media on the learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDK Maria Ferrari. The study used an experimental method with a One Group Pretest–Posttest design. There were 29 students who were all included in the sample. The research instruments were formative and summative tests, which were used as pretest and posttest. The data were analyzed using normality tests and paired t-tests. The results of the analysis showed that the average pretest score of 81.6 increased to 92.8 on the posttest. The results of the paired t-test showed a significance value of p < 0.001, which means that there was a significant difference between the learning outcomes before and after the treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the role-playing method assisted by chain story media had a significant effect on improving student learning outcomes. This method was also proven to be able to increase student activity, motivation, and involvement in the learning process.
