Abstract

Meiofauna were organisms that live in the interstitial. Synonyms were meiobentos. Meiofauna can also be interpreted as a small group of metazoans that sits between microfauna and macrofauna. This was caused by a very small body size and position was hidden in the sediments and did not provide direct benefits to humans (economic benefits). Meiofauna generally known only by scientists who pursue marine biology and ecology. This study aimed to determine the ecological water quality index based on the island of interstitial meiofauna Pannikiang, Barru district. The results showed that the class was the class that dominates the nematode composition and density of meiofauna in Pannikiang Island. Nematodes were very instrumental in the classroom enrich and enhance the productivity of aquatic ecosystems. Based on the ecological value of the index, the index of diversity (H'), Uniformity (E), and dominance (D) showed that P. Pannikiang have good water quality with the diversity of species and the spread of the number of individuals of each species were equal, a unified community and did not find any species that dominate the surrounding waters. Meiofauna ecology index indicates that the water condition in P. Pannikiang not currently experiencing a very severe ecological pressure, meaning that in a stable community structure, environmental conditions is excellent. Therefore, we need public participation and coordination among agencies in the District. Barru to maintain the condition of these waters.

Abstract

The influence of processing method of tire tuber (Amorphophallus sp.) toward the level of calcium oxalate at Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Makassar was to finding out the effect of tuber processing methods tire against calcium oxalate and know the best way of processing. This research conducted in experiment central laboratory of the Ministry of Health, Indonesia, and Makassar. This research consisted of the dependent variable in the form of calcium oxalate in the tuber tire and independent variables such as processing methods. Samples were tire tuber (Amorphophallus sp.) processed by boiling it (A1), salt-water immersion (A2), and wood ash (A3). The research data obtained using titrimetry. Data were analyzed using inferential analysis technique and LSD test at 0.05 significance level. Average-content of calcium oxalate of tire tuber weighing one gram for A0, A1, A2, and A3 respectively was 0.056%, 0.008%, 0.034%, and 0.040%. From the data, it appears there was the influence of processing methods, both those treated with boiling water immersion salt and wood ashes, on serum calcium oxalate in the tuber tire. The most effective way of processing was to reduce or minimize calcium oxalate in the tuber tire processing by boiling.

Abstract

Makrozoobentos living relative lived, so it was better used as a guide environmental quality, as always contact with the waste into their habitat. Bivalvia and gastropod the most widely used as bioindicator pollution because he lived. This study aimed to know the level of species diversity in the estuary in estuary of Jeneberang River, to know the abundance of mollusks and know the type of mollusks that dominate in estuary of Jeneberang River. This research was descriptive of how diversity in estuary of Jeneberang River. The results obtained based on the diversity index showed <1.0, showed estuarine of Jeneberang River including heavy polluted waters. Based on the dominance index gained value approaching zero, then there is no dominant species.

Abstract

This research was about the Classroom Action Research with the function for growing the activity and outcomes of learning through the ICT Questions Aplplications on learning biology. The Subject of this research was the student of class XI IPA1 SMA 1 Tellu Limpoe, the whole semester school year 2008/2009. It was about 31 students. The implementation of this research, there were two cycle. The data was getting trough 2 instruments, there were the data about the student’s activity during study process in the classroom which getting by sheet observation, and the data about the amount outcomes of learning. The data of student’s activity analyzed by qualitative analysis using the descriptive statistics. The amount of the analysis were: (1) outcomes of learning biology after the questions structural ICT in the first cycle in unsucces category are the score was about 66.32; the high score was  90.62 and the lower score 46.87 from the maximum score may be it can be reach 100; (2) In the second cycle it is in success category, it was about 73, 54 with the high score 91.43 and the lower score is 54.28 from the maximum score which may be can be reach 100. After that, it also expressed by the implementation-structured questions based on ICT, the disorder and belief in theirselves duringa the prosess of the study can be grown up.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of inquiry and discovery approach toward the biology-learning outcome at grade XI students in SMA Negeri 1 Walenrang. This research was quasy experiment with Posttest Only, Non-Equivqlent Control Group Design. This research was done in SMA Negeri 1 Walenrang by taking two classes as research subjects. They were XI IPA3 as experimen group with 39 students who were tought through inquiry and discovery and XI IPA2­ with 40 students as control group who were tought through expository aproach. The data of the researh was found by giving result test after all the material had been tought. The data was analyzed showed that the result of experiment group was good categorized with average 77,26 were as result of control group was wortcing on categorized with average 71,17. Based on the test by using test data analysis t where P<0,05 so that Ho rejected and H1 was accepted. It showed that there was influence of inquiry and discovery learning approach toward the biology learning outcome at grade XI students in SMA Negeri 1 Walenrang.

Abstract

The research aims to know the long influence of fermentation with bread yeast in Dioscorea hispida flavor to ethanol production. This experiment research was doing in Balai Besar Labolatorium Departemen Kesehatan RI (BBLDKRI), Makassar. The sample of the research was 250 g in every sample of Dioscorea hispida flavor. It had done by chemical by use HCl which boiling in 120°C. This research used 4 M HCl which repeat in 3 times. The result of hydrolysis was 48 hours, 96 hours, and 144 hours. This research used free variable that is the long time of fermentation and variable that was the ethanol value of Dioscorea hispida that had fermented. This research used random complete planning and picnometer was used to know the ethanol value and match it at the kind of the weight table. The result of data analysis showed that the ethanol value in Dioscorea hispida flavor which fermented is 0.0% control); 0.5% (48 hours); 1.1% (96 hours), and 3.6 % (144 hours). The result of this research showed that there was the long influence of the fermentation to the ethanol value in Dioscorea hispida flavor fermentation and after doing the inferential technique analysis and between control and treatment proved that the last fermentation is obvious different with the ethanol value. So, can be concluded that longer time that used in fermentation (144 Hours), higher the ethanol value (3.6 %) in the (Dioscorea hispida).

Abstract

This study was a quasi-experimental research, which aim to know the presence or absence of difference of student?s biology learning outcome between students who taught biology by using cooperative learning model type group investigation with learning model direct instruction SMA Negeri 1 Sungguminasa.  Hypothesis of this research is differences of student?s biology learning outcome between the students who taught using cooperative learning model group investigation with learning model direct instruction. Sample of this research were students of SMA Negeri 1 Sungguhminasa class XI IPA4 as GI an experiment class, which included 47 students, and class XI IPA5 as DI control class, which included 48 students. The research was conducted in 4 times meetings. The measurement cognitive learning outcame was done by giving valuting test in form of multiple choice and essays test. The average of on the cognitif learning outcomes for the experimental class GI was 81.10 and DI class was 75.22. The affective domain of learning the average for the class of experiments GI was 82.00% and DI was 73.50%. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and inferential statistical analysis. There are the inferential statistical analyzed with the normality test, homogeneity test and hypotheses test. Analysis of the data using a t-test value (Sig. 2-tailed) 0.003 ? ? 0.05 so H0 rejected and H1 accepted with the average on the cognitive learning outcomes. From the research results can be concluded that there are differences in biology learning outcomes between students who are taught using the learning model group investigation with learning model direct instruction SMA Negeri 1 Sungguminasa.

Abstract

This research aims to know biology-learning outcomes of the eleventh grade students SMAN 4 Bantimurung by implementing cooperative learning model type GQGA in Skeletal System Concept. This kind of research was queasy experimental with randomized control group only design. Subject of this research were all of XI IPA students of SMAN 4 Bantimurung in academic year 2011/2012, which consist of four classes. Research samples who respectively consist of 27 students, XI IPA that learned with cooperative learning model GQGA. The data analyzed in descriptive and inferential ways. The research result shows that scores of students who taught by implementing cooperative type GQGA are categorized good with the average score 75,04. The result of inferential statistic analyzed with t-test with sig (0.01) < α (0.05) so that H0 rejected and H1 received. From these results, it can be concluded that there is a differentiate students’ biology learning outcomes who are taught by implementing cooperative learning model Giving Question and Getting Answer type in the concept of Skeletal System at eleventh students SMAN 4 Bantimurung. The high scores of students’ the studying result which taught by implementing cooperative learning model type GQGA were caused by a lot of ideas or thought that can be shown by the students. Students were able to create problems with design questions and answer the questions.

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata, Merr) was one type of palm tree of the family was well known area of the tropics because of various benefits. Starting from the root, stem, bark, leaves, fruits, fibers up to the treetops. The variables in this study were age starter as the independent variable and the yield of sugar as a variable independent. Design used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of three treatments with three replications. Each repeat unit there were 3 observations. So that the overall number of observation units 3 x 3 x 3 = 27. The treatment used in this study, namely: A1 = Age starter 4 days, A2 = Age 6 day starter, starter A3 = Age 8 days. The parameters measured in this study is the yield produced nata, nata yield measured by weighing the first nata formed have drained for 1 hour and then divided by the volume of juice used. Data obtained with the variation (F test) to see the effect on the level sig α = 0.01. When the results showed a treatment effect of the test followed by LSD α = 0.01. The results showed that age affects the formation of nata starter.
