Abstract

In this research, the hypothesis is explored using the perception of people about social media as a campaign system with regard to the efficiency and moral consequences of the targeted advertising. By applying the qualitative methods, the study examines the user reaction towards emotive political advertisements and the effects of emotive political advertisements on political system trust. The results indicate that although targeted advertising serves as an effective way to make the voters interested in the immediate future, it frequently results in long-term disengagement and distrust. The respondents also raised serious concerns regarding any breach of privacy and the control of emotions appeals pointing out that there should be more regulation and transparency in political advertising. The study is relevant to the existing literature because it gives insights into the emotional and ethical aspects of digital political campaigning, the need to encourage actual political participation in the digital age.

Abstract

This study analyzes public perception of waste management policies in major Indonesian cities, focusing on the influence of environmental awareness and social participation. Using a quantitative research method, data were collected from 400 urban residents in Jakarta, Surabaya, Bandung, and Makassar through structured surveys. The results indicate that public perception of waste management policies is generally moderate, with Surabaya showing the highest satisfaction levels. A significant positive correlation was found between environmental awareness and public perception, suggesting that individuals with greater environmental knowledge tend to view waste management policies more favorably. Furthermore, social participation plays a critical role in enhancing policy effectiveness, as cities with higher levels of community engagement, such as Surabaya and Makassar, reported better outcomes. The findings highlight the need for improved environmental education and the promotion of community-based waste management programs to foster greater public engagement and support for sustainable waste management practices. These insights can inform policymakers in refining waste management strategies and increasing public participation.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Women-Friendly and Child-Caring Village Program (DRPPA) in Rembangkepuh Village, Ngadiluwih District, East Java Province, focusing on women’s empowerment and child protection. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research explores the factors influencing the success of the DRPPA program, including policy clarity, human resources, budget adequacy, and community participation. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with village officials, SAPA volunteers, and community leaders, as well as document analysis of program reports. The findings show that the DRPPA program has had a positive impact on reducing child marriages, increasing women’s economic participation, and improving child protection mechanisms. However, challenges such as limited budgets and cultural barriers remain significant. The study highlights the need for increased community engagement and financial resources to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the program.

Abstract

This paper synthesises qualitative perspectives focusing on the impacts of climate resilience interventions in post-hurricane flooding by certain neighbourhoods. The study explores the reception of the resilience undertakings and the aluted enablers and hinderances throughout one-on-one interviews with the residents, leaders, and other stakeholders. The study thus highlights the fact that excessive bureaucracy, lack of funds and low awareness of such issues remain key factors which hinder resilience processes and their implementation. On the other hand, receptiveness from the community, good leadership, and strong relations with key stakeholders were earmarked as the main enablers increasing local participation towards practice of resilience. Some participants reported that slow decision-making processes of the government hampered the implementation of vital resilience actions. Of this contingent, those with leadership and partnership showed better preparedness and flexibility. This study alleviates a literature gap by offering a qualitative analysis of the factors that influence community reception of resilience planning efforts, particularly in urban contexts. The results highlight the need for community inclusion in resilience plans and for such plans to combat challenges such as inadequate funds and bureaucracy. Future endeavours should include raising public awareness, reducing red tape proceduralisation, and finding fixed revenue sources for improving the reliability of the built environment of communities in cities threatened by climatic disasters.

Abstract

This qualitative study examines how the salience of public perception has an impact on the establishment of urban development policies. Using semi-structured interviews with local residents and municipal decision-makers, the study explores the way of how change in urban planning projects and activities is based on the changing public opinion. The results are that the two key mechanisms that emanate out of civic engagement are the delivery of feedback and the reinforcement of accountability and responsiveness, both of which are valuable in influencing the outcome of policy. The most prominent factors include socio-economic status, personal interest in the issues of cities, and trust in the leadership. These studies also outline the views of the policymakers in the eyes of the population, and, thus, prove that community involvement can be used to trigger the changes within any urban project. This research, therefore, fills theoretical and methodological gaps identified before by illuminating the intricacies of involvement of people and the resulting effects on policy reform in an urban context. The findings highlight the fact that the promotional culture of collaboration under action plans targeting urban development is more effective and leads to social trust. On this basis, it is suggested that future studies should continue with the investigation of the perception of the population at different stages of development and explore the use of online social media as an enabling tool of increasing civic engagement in the policy making process.

Abstract

This article is focused on how the government works with community and private players in enhancing good regional governance. Due to challenges like urbanization, environment, and even economic disparity, such other regional sectors can only enable development and enhance welfare through collaboration. The review also sketches out factors such as vision, appraisal of roles and responsibilities, trust and transparency that help to foster a successful collaboration. It also captures factors including conflicts of interest and objective, resource constraints, and policy and institutional constraints which facilitate the breakdown of the collaboration. Based on examples of countries and cities from across the globe, the review looks at practices that have proven the usefulness of cooperation, including Surabaya’s Green and Clean Program, the transformation of Medellin and the integration of the sound Region to show that partnerships with the ability to coordinate across different business sectors are capable of producing positive outcomes. Besides, it shows success stories and models of collaboration and highlights what promotes effective actions: involvement, commitment over time, and adaptability. Therefore, in line with the research objective, the review finds that effective coproduction initiatives are more likely to be socially sustainable when the collaborative relationships are strategic, based on mutual trust and shared vision.

Abstract

In this research, the approaches to enhance the public engagement in the monitoring of general elections in Papua, Indonesia a politically sensitive area with restricted freedom are explored. Employing both structured and unstructured research methodologies, the study identifies and examines the politics of exclusion, including political violence, distrust of the electoral process, and geographic constraints, as the chief causes of non-attendance at elections among citizens. As it can be seen from the above analysis, political victimisation, especially from political big-wigs and relevant local offices, appears to predominate as a barrier to stakeholder engagement. As the way forward for all these challenges, the study proposed an increase in the protection of whistle blowers, utilizing online means for remote monitoring of electoral activity, and CSO’s strengthening to improve electoral inclusiveness. Overall, the study accrues important findings on the ways that legal, technological, and community driven approaches advance democratic accountability as well as seek to achieve a more transparent electoral process in Papua.

Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing the performance of State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in the Semarang City Government environment. Using a quantitative approach, the research investigates how leadership styles, motivation, work environment, and career development opportunities impact ASN performance. The results show that leadership style is the most significant factor, followed by motivation, with both significantly affecting the work performance of ASN. The work environment and career development, though important, were found to have a lesser but still notable influence. These findings align with existing literature suggesting that leadership, employee motivation, and a positive work environment are essential for improving public sector productivity. The study provides recommendations for enhancing ASN performance by focusing on leadership development, improving job satisfaction, and providing more career growth opportunities.
