Abstract

Keberagaman budaya dan agama yang ada pada masyarakat Indonesia menuntut adanya toleransi antar umat beragama yang semakin penting untuk diperkuat. Dalam konteks ini, lembaga pendidikan agama seperti pesantren memiliki peran strategis dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai toleransi. Artikel ini membahas peran Pesantren Sunan Kalijogo Malang dalam mengajarkan nilai-nilai toleransi beragama di tengah masyarakat yang penuh dengan keberagaman. Fokus utama kajian ini adalah pada strategi pesantren mengimplementasikan ajaran Islam yang menekankan pentingnya saling menghargai perbedaan dan hidup berdampingan secara damai. Penelitian ini berusaha untuk menggali motivasi pesantren dalam mengajarkan toleransi, serta metode yang digunakan untuk menanamkan nilai-nilai tersebut kepada santri. Menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara mendalam. Strategi ini dilakukan oleh pihak pesantren tidak hanya memberikan pendidikan agama Islam, tetapi juga menciptakan ruang bagi santri untuk memahami dan menerima keberagaman dalam kehidupan sosial mereka. Implementasi komunikasi multikultural di pesantren ini membuktikan bahwa lembaga pendidikan agama dapat berperan penting dalam menciptakan santri yang inklusif dan toleran, serta menjaga keharmonisan di tengah masyarakat yang multikultural. Penelitian ini memberikan bukti bahwa pendidikan berbasis agama dapat mendukung terwujudnya masyarakat yang lebih damai dan bersatu. Acts of racial discrimination in Indonesia are still relatively high and vulnerable. In the midst of cultural diversity and complex lifestyles, the potential for division is very vulnerable. Ethnic diversity in Indonesia presents two different things. On the one hand, we can see that with diversity, it becomes a source of cultural wealth and national identity. However, on the other hand, the existing cultural wealth can present a dilemma. The presence of diversity in our society has many influences on all aspects of community life that differ from one group to another. This fundamental difference can be seen in the interaction patterns they live in, when they dialogue with each other to convey messages or as a form of expression to fulfill their needs.  The existence of the Batak Tribe and the Sundanese Tribe, which are part of the majority community group, is a clear example of a community that has differences in speech intonation that must be considered in its delivery. We can see that the majority of Indonesian people consider that the Batak tribe is known as a group of people who have characters as brave, assertive, and like to speak in a loud tone. This situation is inversely proportional to the Sundanese tribe. Sundanese people are considered to have friendly, polite, and soft-spoken characters. These differences in characteristics often cause conflict or problems when communicating interpersonally. Through intercultural communication studies, it can solve the problem of hate speech in this study. Samovar, Poter and Daniel have intercultural communication concepts that can be a solution to the conflicts that often occur.  The result that can be found is that by recognising the context of intercultural communication that exists in heterogeneous societies, it is hoped that people will be able to accept cultural diversity, especially regarding hate speech. Another thing that can be produced, namely the existence of a bridge for the creation of knowledge exchange to understand the existence of other cultures that live outside their society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji peran program Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) sebagai strategi community relations dalam upaya konservasi lingkungan yang dilaksanakan oleh PT. Tirta Investama Pandaan (Danone-Aqua) di wilayah Prigen, Kabupaten Pasuruan. Program CSR ini mengadopsi pendekatan berbasis partisipasi masyarakat dengan model agroforestri kopi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan studi kasus kualitatif untuk mengeksplorasi dinamika hubungan antara perusahaan dan masyarakat, termasuk tantangan sosial seperti resistensi terhadap program, serta strategi komunikasi yang digunakan perusahaan untuk membangun kembali kepercayaan masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hubungan antara perusahaan dan masyarakat tidak selalu berjalan mulus, terutama pada tahap awal implementasi. Namun, melalui transformasi strategi komunikasi yang lebih dialogis dan partisipatif, perusahaan berhasil membangun hubungan yang lebih setara, kolaboratif, dan berkelanjutan. Program CSR ini tidak hanya memperkuat citra dan legitimasi sosial perusahaan, tetapi juga berkontribusi pada pemberdayaan ekonomi lokal, pelestarian lingkungan, dan penguatan jejaring kemitraan multipihak. Temuan ini menggarisbawahi bahwa keberhasilan community relations dalam konteks CSR sangat bergantung pada sensitivitas terhadap konteks sosial lokal, kemampuan untuk membangun komunikasi lintas aktor, serta komitmen jangka panjang terhadap keberlanjutan hubungan sosial dan ekologis. This study examines the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs as a community relations strategy in environmental conservation efforts conducted by PT. Tirta Investama Pandaan (Danone-Aqua) in the Prigen area, Pasuruan Regency. The CSR program is implemented through a community-based participatory approach using a coffee agroforestry model. This research employs a qualitative case study approach to explore the dynamics of the relationship between the company and the community, including social challenges such as resistance to the program, and how communication strategies are employed to rebuild trust within the community. The findings indicate that the relationship between the company and the community was not always smooth, especially in the early stages of implementation. However, through a transformation to more dialogic and participatory communication strategies, the company successfully established a more equal, collaborative, and sustainable relationship. This CSR program not only strengthens the company’s image and social legitimacy but also contributes to local economic empowerment, environmental preservation, and the strengthening of multi-stakeholder partnerships. The findings highlight that effective community relations in the context of CSR require sensitivity to local social contexts, the ability to build cross-actor communication, and a long-term commitment to the sustainability of social and ecological relations.

Abstract

Komunikasi interpersonal antara atasan dan bawahan dalam suatu organisasi memegang peranan penting dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja karyawan. Penelitian ini dilakukan di PT Home Credit Indonesia Cabang Jambi, yang telah melakukan berbagai upaya untuk meningkatkan motivasi kerja karyawan, seperti pemberian insentif berupa gaji dan bonus, penyediaan seragam kerja, penyelenggaraan acara sosial, pemberian asuransi jiwa dan kesehatan, pembagian sertifikat penghargaan, serta pemberian peluang pengembangan diri. Namun, upaya-upaya tersebut belum sepenuhnya efektif, terlihat dari masih adanya karyawan yang tidak disiplin dan munculnya kesenjangan informasi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini penting dilakukan untuk mengetahui pola komunikasi interpersonal antara manajer dan karyawan, cara manajer membangkitkan motivasi kerja, serta hambatan-hambatan yang muncul dalam proses komunikasi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teori yang digunakan adalah Teori Kebutuhan Hubungan Interpersonal yang mencakup beberapa pola komunikasi, yaitu pola roda, pola melingkar, pola menyeluruh, pola Y, dan pola bersambung. Teknik analisis data dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pola komunikasi yang paling efektif dalam meningkatkan motivasi kerja karyawan di PT Home Credit Indonesia Cabang Jambi adalah pola roda dan pola menyeluruh. Motivasi yang diberikan oleh atasan terutama berupa insentif finansial seperti gaji dan bonus, serta dipadukan dengan pemenuhan kebutuhan fisiologis, keamanan dan keselamatan kerja, sosial, penghargaan, dan aktualisasi diri. Hambatan dalam komunikasi interpersonal yang ditemukan antara lain adalah hambatan teknis, fisik, psikologis, perbedaan kerangka berpikir, serta hierarki dalam struktur organisasi. Interpersonal communication between superiors and subordinates plays a vital role in enhancing employee motivation within an organization. This study was conducted at PT Home Credit Indonesia Jambi, which has implemented various efforts to improve employee motivation, including providing financial incentives such as salaries and bonuses, offering work uniforms, organizing social events, providing life and health insurance, awarding certificates of appreciation, and offering opportunities for personal development. However, these efforts have not been entirely effective, as indicated by the persistence of undisciplined behavior among employees and communication gaps. Therefore, this research aims to examine the patterns of interpersonal communication between managers and employees, the ways in which managers foster employee motivation, and the barriers that arise in the communication process. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The theoretical framework used is the Theory of Interpersonal Needs, which includes several communication patterns: wheel, circular, all-channel, Y, and chain patterns. Data analysis was carried out through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings reveal that the most effective communication patterns in enhancing employee motivation at PT Home Credit Indonesia, Jambi Branch, are the wheel and all-channel patterns. The primary motivational tools used by managers include financial incentives such as bonuses and salaries, combined with the fulfillment of physiological needs, job safety and security, social belonging, recognition, and self-actualization. Barriers to interpersonal communication include technical, physical, and psychological obstacles, differences in perspectives, and hierarchical structures within the organization.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berangkat dari permasalahan kompleks yang dihadapi santriwati baru dalam proses adaptasi budaya di Pondok Pesantren Putri Annur 2 Al-Murtadlo Malang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis secara mendalam proses adaptasi budaya santriwati baru, termasuk tahapan, hambatan, dan strategi komunikasi antarbudaya yang efektif untuk memfasilitasi adaptasi tersebut. Penelitian ini mengunakan teori adaptasi budaya Young Yun Kim dan teori uncertainty management Gudykunst. Menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, teknik purposive sampling informan yang akan diwawancarai yaitu santriwati baru tingkat MTs dan MA, santri senior, dan ustadzah/pengasuh. Pengumpulan data diperoleh dengan dokumentasi, wawancara mendalam dan observasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan model interaktif Miles & Huberman. Hasil penelitian didapatkan tiga tahapan dalam adaptasi santriwati baru yaitu : culture shock, penyesuaian dan pertumbuhan. Hambatan dalam proses adaptasi santriwatibaru seperti terdapatnya perbedaan bahasa dan logat yang memicu kesalahpahaman, stereotip budaya dan prasangka antardaerah dan tekanan sosial akibat aturan yang ketat dan information overload selama masa orientasi menimbulkan kecemasan serta ketidakpastian. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan wawasan teoritis dalam kajian komunikasi antarbudaya dan rekomendasi praktis bagi pengelola pesantren untuk mendukung proses adaptasi santri baru secara lebih optimal, menciptakan lingkungan yang inklusif dan kondusif untuk pembelajaran. Komunikasi antarbudaya yang efektif berperan sebagai kunci utama dalam mengelola kecemasan, mengurangi ketidakpastian, dan membangun identitas baru santri sebagai bagian dari komunitas pesantren. This study stems from the complex problems faced by new female students in the process of cultural adaptation at the Annur 2 Al-Murtadlo Islamic Boarding School for Girls in Malang. This study aims to analyze in depth the process of cultural adaptation of new female students, including the stages, obstacles, and effective intercultural communication strategies to facilitate this adaptation. This study uses Young Yun Kim's cultural adaptation theory and Gudykunst's uncertainty management theory. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the purposive sampling technique was used to select informants to be interviewed, namely new female students at the MTs and MA levels, senior students, and female teachers/caregivers. Data collection was obtained through documentation, in-depth interviews, and observation. Data analysis in this study used the Miles & Huberman interactive model. The results of the study found three stages in the adaptation of new female students, namely: culture shock, adjustment, and growth. Obstacles in the adaptation process of new female students include language and dialect differences that cause misunderstandings, cultural stereotypes and regional prejudices, and social pressure due to strict rules and information overload during the orientation period, which cause anxiety and uncertainty. The results of this study provide theoretical insights into the study of intercultural communication and practical recommendations for boarding school administrators to support the adaptation process of new students more optimally, creating an inclusive and conducive environment for learning. Effective intercultural communication plays a key role in managing anxiety, reducing uncertainty, and building a new identity for students as part of the boarding school community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas strategi komunikasi interpersonal yang digunakan guru pendamping dalam menumbuhkan kepercayaan diri siswa tunarungu wicara di lingkungan pendidikan khusus. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi untuk menggambarkan praktik komunikasi sehari-hari antara guru pendamping (GBK) dan siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi interpersonal yang efektif dibangun atas dasar empati, kesabaran, serta kemampuan menyesuaikan metode pembelajaran dengan kebutuhan unik setiap siswa. Guru pendamping memanfaatkan media visual, teknik interaktif, dan komunikasi nonverbal untuk meningkatkan pemahaman serta keterlibatan siswa. Selain itu, membangun rasa percaya menjadi kunci dalam mendorong partisipasi aktif, mengurangi kecemasan berkomunikasi, dan melatih keberanian siswa untuk mengekspresikan diri. Penelitian juga menekankan pentingnya dukungan dari sekolah dan pemerintah melalui penyediaan program pelatihan serta fasilitas yang memadai guna memperkuat kompetensi guru pendamping. Lingkungan belajar yang inklusif dengan dukungan keluarga dan masyarakat terbukti berkontribusi besar terhadap pengembangan keterampilan komunikasi dan kemampuan adaptasi sosial siswa. Dengan demikian, strategi komunikasi interpersonal tidak hanya berperan dalam meningkatkan rasa percaya diri, tetapi juga membangun kemandirian serta integrasi sosial siswa. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk mengkaji dampak jangka panjang dari strategi ini dan pemanfaatan pendekatan berbasis teknologi dalam pendidikan anak berkebutuhan khusus. This study explores the interpersonal communication strategies employed by teachers and companions in fostering self-confidence among students with speech and hearing impairments in special education settings. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation to capture the daily communication practices between companions and students. The findings reveal that effective interpersonal communication is built upon empathy, patience, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to each student’s unique needs. Companions frequently utilize visual media, interactive techniques, and nonverbal communication to enhance understanding and engagement. In addition, trust-building plays a crucial role in encouraging active participation, reducing communication anxiety, and promoting self-expression. The study also highlights the importance of institutional and governmental support in providing adequate training programs and facilities that strengthen companions’ competencies. An inclusive learning environment, supported by parents, schools, and the broader community, is found to significantly contribute to the development of communication skills and social adaptability of students. In conclusion, effective interpersonal communication strategies not only improve students’ self-confidence but also foster independence and social integration. Future research is recommended to examine the long-term impacts of these strategies and explore technology-based approaches in supporting the education of students with special needs.
